Naughty Dog Debunks Uncharted 3: World Of Deceit Rumor

I debated whether or not I should post this, just because it's essentially non-news now. However, I decided it could act as clarification for those who still aren't in the know.

It started with an Amazon France listing for a game called "Uncharted 3: World of Deceit." Not long afterward, the entire gaming community was abuzz with all sorts of speculative questions; people wanted to know everything from the story to the environment to the possible release date...not recognizing that nothing even remotely semi-official surrounded the title itself. Thankfully, Naughty Dog's Arne Meyer made the following post on the NeoGAF forums:

"The guy used the Uncharted universe as the basis for mock work for one of his classes and even listed it as such where the pieces were posted: Uncharted 3 pieces I did for architecture class.

So, totally fake and I didn't even have to say so. :) Nice try websites who should actually read the sources of their scoops and do some smart investimagating before posting. It's not rocket science."

Now, we have no doubt a third Uncharted installment is already in the works but clearly, this isn't it. We probably won't hear anything solid concerning the project for at least a few more months and for the record, it's typically a bad idea to call anything so blatantly unofficial "fact." But hey, we all make mistakes. Just thought we should issue the clarification.

I try to not get too excited about Uncharted 3 rumors for several reasons:

1.I can wait for Uc3 (Still playing the amazing 2nd one)

2.I want them to take their time on this game and try to make it even better than Among Thieves

3.It's still too early for them to start production on Uncharted 3

yeah, Jakman, NaughtyDog isn't Insomniac. ND actually sleeps so it takes them twice as long to make a good game. So they'd better be cracking away at U3 by now.

The mark of a quality franchise: The devs take their time and don't put one out every year.

I'm just fine waiting on Uncharted 3 for however long it takes ND to make it. We don't want it to do like Tomb Raider did and become material for the refuse bin after part 3. I hope Drake has a long life in games and even if Nathan Fillion gets the movie role they never, EVER, link up an Uncharted movie and an Uncharted game in any conceivable way.

This story reminds me of that mock Uncharted III logo that popped up a few months ago--the dinosaur one.

And as long as it's not "Uncharted 3: Escape from Jurassic Park" we'll be in good shape

Frankly, I'm just glad the Multiplayer community in Uncharted 2 is still going strong. I usually play with people I know, but it's still nice to know there are still a huge number and variety of people to play with.

Anyways, as for Uncharted 3, it's inevitable, but it's more of an epic E3 reveal kind of inevitable.

Killzone looks more realistic whereas Uncharted seems to have a sort of cartoonish aesthetic. This was done to avoid potentially dipping into the uncanny valley, and is potentially the reason for what you regard as worse graphics.

If it's a FPS or RTS I will most certainly get it for PC. If it's any other genre than I'll get it for consoles. Something I've always been upfront about and something I think is reasonable.

You're position on the SP aspect of gaming isn't as reasonable, IMO. Also you're a big fan of Reebok.

Pardon me for intruding, i distinctly remember someone saying that FFxiii on release was more worth his purchase than GOW3 because of it potentially being an 80-100+ hour adventure vs an 8-12 hour adventure that is GOW3, therefore offering him more bang for his buck :) He said that he'd wait for a good deal on GOW3 eventually, iirc, which he did. Perhaps, Alienage means the same thing? Maybe for a regular $60 dollar purchase, he expects a certain game length and/or replay value, but is not against the idea of playing a game that is otherwise, when it comes down in price.

HOT DAMN! More U3 rumours. No, wait... That's not a good thing. We need something more concrete than rumours. Ah well, we know it should be releasing towards the end of next year, based on Naughty Dog's current running speed, and so should probably maybe get an official unveil around about E3. Or maybe they'll announce it earlier then do a twenty minute gameplay demo at E3 like they did with GoW3. I'm rambling, in short, me wants.

yea, uncharted is my favourite gaming franchise and part 3 is a ways off. plus naughty dog just moved to a larger studio a few months back, im sure they are working on preliminary ideas but i wont expect the game anytime soon.

as long as they keep supporting part 2 with some double money weekends and more DLC, (Coop!) it'll hold me over until part 3

Yea i hope we can hear some real news about the game from ND soon... if uncharted comes out next year then sony will have a crazy lineup... Including KZ3,Resistance 3,Infamous 2,and LBP2

Well, I have been making the assumption that ND hasn't been sitting on their hands this whole time, so regardless of UC III news being false, I am sure its it the working. I whole heartedly support ND and I will wait till hell freezes over to play UC III if I need to. Can't wait to hear some official stuff, but I am honestly cool with waiting till E3 so they can make a huge presentation about it. I think ND deserves that. :)
