Enslaved DLC Adds Pigsy Gameplay And 3D Option

You know what we like? Downloadable content that expands upon the single-player story.

Namco Bandai has announced the first batch of DLC for Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. It's called Pigsy's Perfect 10 and it'll be released later this year along with the option to play the game in 3D. The new pack tells a side story to the main plot, and it's focused on Trip's fat friend, Pigsy, who wants to build a perfect companion out of scrap parts. Yes, we will play as Pigsy, which means we'll have a very different gameplay experience...Pigsy is no Monkey, remember. If you played the game, though, you remember Pigsy's grappling hook and sniper rifle, so that right there should give you a clue... The addition of 3D is pretty cool, too, and remember that you don't need a 3D-compatible TV and the corresponding glasses: it's TriOviz, which means any TV can manage it (it just isn't as good as true 3D).

We're not sure when these updates will come, but at least we know they'll arrive for the PS3 and 360 versions of the game before the year is out. How often do we get DLC that isn't multiplayer-oriented? Of course, there is no multiplayer for the game in question but even so...the point remains. Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is one of the more enjoyable experiences of the year. Give it a try if you haven't already.

I'll pick up Enslaved on the cheapness, but I don't think I'll be purchasing this DLC at any point. Got no 3D and got no interest in Pigsy. Also slightly afraid of what his "perfect 10" would look like.

Hey guys, I believe this update is designed for TriOviz 3D. Meaning it works on basically any TV. You won't need a fancy 3DTV. Batman's 3D mode was the same way.
But keep in mind, TriOviz isn't as good as a 3DTV's 3D.

Is that the same as the theaters and home dvds where you wear the nerd glasses that have no power to them?

I don't really know. IGN appears to have the most comprehensive coverage on this particularly announcement. It looks like the game has both 3D options for users.

"In addition, when a player downloads the new DLC, the core game will receive a TriOviz for Games Technology update, enabling all aspects of ENSLAVED: Odyssey to the West to be experienced in eye-popping 3D. The lush environments and action packed fighting sequences will literally jump off the screen, providing players with an exciting, immersive experience. Fans that have a 3D-enabled television can play the DLC in 3D utilizing Stereo 3D Active Shutter Glasses.

For gamers that do not have a 3D-enabled television, Stereo 3D vision will be available on all 2D HDTV sets through the use of innovative TriOviz INFICOLOR 3D glasses. These glasses will be available for purchase via ....

TriOviz for Games Technology adds incredible depth-of-field while maintaining the integrity of the original gameplay and visuals. Players can experience both the main game as well as the new Pigsy story in 3D. The retailer bonus alternate costumes for Monkey or Trip will also appear in 3D for those that have them already. I'll leave it. Give people without 3D HDTVs (basically everyone) a reason to be excited. ;)

Wasn't Ninja Theory the ones bitching 'bout how they'd need to sacrifice resolution to implement 3D?

SEems everyone opted for Castlevania. Pretty much every where i went Casltevania was out of stock or low in stock while Enslaved was over stocked.

Looks like going multiplat isn't even going to rake in what HS did.

Thanks Temjin001,

I just checked all through their site, and it says that the Batman GOTY game will include 2 pairs of their TriOviz glasses.

They're coated cardboard with some kind of special green lens, but at least they're not as funky looking as all of my red & blue glsses are.

I still haven't played through Batman. I gave it a rental and it seemed good. Maybe I'll experiement with this TriOviz stuff if I get around to playing that game.

I guess the TriOviz works pretty good, but if my memory serves me right, it doesn't reproduce the special effects in 3D. So basically, you see the depth of the characters and the BG's in 3D, but nothing else. Seems sort of odd to me. But maybe it's better than nothing.

EDIT: I rented inFamous at the same time and it got nearly ALL of my time =)

if you had tried 3D you would not be calling it overrated.
go play mafia 2 on a decent spec PC with 3D, and i guarantee you wont be calling it overrated anymore!
wait for those glasses free 3D TVs, just hope your sitting dead center otherwise, i hope you like blowing chunks everywhere because thats all you will be doing!
funny ninty forgot to mention that when showing off the 3Ds, will be a nice feature on the way to work on the train.
always said trains needed more decorations.

huh, how ironic considering when monkey walks buy some crates he asks whats that and trip says some outdated tech.
take a closer look and you will see its boxes to 3D TVs.
glad to see them adding in 3D for non rich bastards, hopefully more developers add that to there games.
i hope KZ3 has it, because i sure wont be buying a 3D TV anytime soon!

Now this is a game for which I would buy the DLC, not only because it features entirely new gameplay and plot, but also because Enslaved is simply fun.

I should finish the game tonight, which means that I'll put up my review within the next couple of days. Keep tuned.
Peace.

I take it this will not be free DLC. I loved Enslaved so may just may have to purchase this if it is not for free anyway :)

The game has a fat guy called Pigsy? Talk about a facepalm waiting to happen.

Anyway, sp dlc doesn't usually add anything (unless you're Rockstar) but I guess it'll come down to pricing. If they think they're going to charge for 3D they've really lost their minds, but I can see spending a couple bucks for another run through a game.

After the demo I was officially turned off to this game. I know about how demos usually don't do the game justice but from the start I thought the characters were of a bad design, the story seems ok but everything screams lame. The worst part of it all, that said that the PS3 has issues, HOW?! Ninja Theory made Heavenly Sword a PS3 exclusive!

Heavenly Sword had it's issues too. I just don't think Ninja Theory is very good at making games. They should just start making animated movies.

They are way over rated in my opinion and that dude with the "creature on his head" as Shams put it(LOL!) bugs me.

I think they are talented, but need some specialists on the team to address their many technical issues. The problems in HS were okay back in 2007 when few knew much about the PS3 but they aren't okay now.

oh yeah, and neither is the Unreal 3 engine.
