sorry jawk, i'll probably end up getting it but not until a good deal. treyarch is pretty good with single player. theres people that i'd probably play with. although i'll try not to spend as much actual money on it. either use my best buy certificates or as a used game.

I agree with you Johnld, I'm more interested in the SP game, and will wait until there's a discounted price. If it's anything like MW2 I'll just have to wait until about a week or two before Christmas and some store will have it for at least $10 off. If not I'll probably just rent it. Too much good stuff coming out between now and Killzone 3 in February.

Longer than he's been alive, that is a pretty bold generalized statement. I sense you have some extreme hatred for this series due to the fact of it's hype. As a personal musician for far longer than I will admit, I will say your that closed minded views on music will not excel your talent. I don't particularly like Brit or many others, but I will respect they are musicians. Just think this whole thing was a little immature and uncalled for.

I for one am actually looking forward to this next CoD despite previously saying it wasn't all that exciting. Maybe I just feel like playing another shooter after all the cool action games I've just played.

tbh i dont like that arguement of music and fast food as i love fast food and listen to all types of music from heavy metal to whats in the charts i think its very closed minded......and iam a musician myself being able to play a few instruments and write my own songs

I believe there is a big difference between the terms entertainer and musician. While musician's entertain audiences, I believe there is a difference. I know some great musicians that make crappy entertainers. They aren't entertainers, they're musicians.

Brit is not a musician. But she is a fantastic entertainer. Perhaps if she wrote her own music, could legitimately play an instrument, or ... well... sing.... I would be more likely to call her a musician. As it is, she is an entertainer.

That is my opinion... it's not an original opinion. My mom and sister (both professional sopranos with degree's in music) share that opinion, and due to my respect of their knowledge, I share their beliefs. Mind you, not blindly. I've been playing piano since I was 5 (although stopped lessons at the 8th level of Royal Conservatory of Music), played trumpet with a B-500 symphonic band, and I have a few awards for voice, but I'm not a professional, by any means. Still though... enough experience to have a plausible opinion, I think.

I think you're all taking it way to seriously. I must admit Mozart was a great composer, although I don't generally listen to his music. Britney's music is obviously inferior to Mozart's, but you can't deny her songs were at least decent, especially if you compare it with some of the crap that's on the radio today.

About the most sells equals the best, even Jawknee can't deny this game is gonna be very good, no matter how you put it. I'm not gonna say it'll be the best. Right now, for instance, I only have money to buy one more game by myself this year, and I've got GT5 preordered at a local gamestore. If I would have more money, I would certainly buy Black Ops as well.
IMO GT5 will be better than COD BO, although

I'm sure BO will sell better. Better sales rarely equal better quality, though it is a good overall indicator of quality, I mean, casual Wii games aside, how many times do you see a crappy game sell extremely well?

You could argue that it's fanboyish, or you could look at it from a customer service standpoint.

If I'm a PS3 owner going into a gamestop in search of PS3 games, and the guys in the store are wearing 360 shirts with 360 necklaces lanyards, with the 360 playing demos on the tv while the PS3 tv is turned off, with 360 posters in the forefront, while I gotta trek to the back to find the PS3 stuff, and I ask about a PS3 game, and they ask if I've tried it on 360... I'm gonna feel a little bit like they aren't there to serve my needs.

I'm not gonna get mad about it... but I'm also most certainly not willing to have an argument about why I don't want to try a 360... and if they aren't interested in promoting services I'm looking for, I'm gonna go elsewhere...

I mean, if I compare television providers, I'm going with the one that has a sweet sports package since that's primarily what I watch. Sure the other one has the same channels, but they don't package it together in a way that's appealing to me. And if they aren't making an effort to give me a nice presentation of the package I want while trying to sell me the movie network package I DON'T want, I'm gonna go with the company that WILL package what I want and cater to what I need best.

So it's hardly fanboyism. I've had numerous negative experiences with gamestop trying to force 360's on my head. Eventually, it gets frustrating. Hard to blame someone for going to a company that makes it easy to buy PS3 related goods.

Well, I want it for the Vietnam operations.

Plus now that I've sen this new trailer, I want it even more now that I caught a glimpse of President Kennedy being forever immortalized in the game.
And I still got chills upon hearing his legendary & historic ....

Also biker, I do have to correct you on one thing, Congress balanced the budget under Clinton. Not clinton himself. A House and Senate controlled by republicans. The house of representatives controls the money. Not the president.

I was just going to get this game through Gamefly, but I think I'm going to have to pre-order it and get it at mid-night. Game looks pretty sick.

@ Bikersaint... I am totally shocked at your presidential kudos. I have found a new respect for you. Anyway, Black Ops looks slick. It seems that Activision sets the bar now for 1st person military shooters. People buy those games like crack fiends for a reason. Anybody saying the COD franchise is garbage is a little slow in the brain. You've gotta give that franchise the props it deserves and move on.

One of the greatest things i've never seen before done in a SP call of duty that i see in this game, is that the MAIN character speaks! that's the single best thing i've ever seen in a Call of Duty game ever.

It's strange to me how theres a strong determination of "love it or hate it" with the COD series. Its another Military FPS yep. Which I will totally agree is OLD news hehe. We have seen a million of the damn things. However, I don't quite understand why those who dont like it, have to HATE it so hard.

Most times, if you dont like a game you just say "eh nah. not my thing" but with COD I honestly feel that there is a following of gamers that litterally want to destroy the franchise. They form a pack, and go tearing COD to shreds, and I just DON'T get why. If you don't like it, thats totally cool. But you dont have to sweat bullets and get so uptight over it that it causes a tension in the gaming community.

Playful debate and banter is great for the gaming community. But this COD stuff is starting to sound like a fanboy war on crack. I have never seen such a war from people who don't like the game. most times, if you don't like a game, you mention your opinion in passing, but then you drop it.

I dunno, I for one am excited for Black ops for one main reason: FPS MP like MW2 is mindless for me. I enjoy being able to play a game and not have it demand a huge amount of brain power after a long day at work. It is polished, looks interesting enough to keep me wanting to toss it in the PS3 for some quick fun, and I can play it with my friends that are (forgive me for saying) less educated about gaming. Just my .02. I just wish this war could stop, at least here. We have too good of a community for it. :)

I'm with you there Steel. While I do have my reservations with MW2, it was generally a fun game, and I got my money's worth. The big detriment to CoD's popularity lies with two things: Activision openly using CoD franchise to milk out the gamers, and the ability to do greater. While I believe BO will do great, the past showings gave light to the idea that instead of becoming greater, it became more of the same. That's the double-edged sword there, coz some like it the same, some don't (some days i did like it, some days i didn't)

*Edit: And agree with the mindless thing there. After a stressful day, mindless gaming doesn't sound so bad...

I have 100% completion on the trophies... And I am eternally frustrated with the problems. in MW2. My hatred for CoD has nothing to do with fanboyism, but the fact that they continually make a monstrosity of a bank account while never correcting some major gameplay flaws.

Now, I don't care about stupid things like screen-tearing or minor technical flaws. What I hate about CoD is the absolute glitchiness of the Multiplayer experience. I'm sorry but if you HAVE to put in an auto-aim feature in your game, PLEASE take out the glitchiness associated with it. I can't stand quick-scope glitchers. Anytime it takes zero skill due to an ability to exploit a hole in the programming, I have an issue with that. Especially if you're making ridiculous amounts of money on that title.

So, while I have 100% completion, I REALLY hate the fact that the CoD franchise has no pride left. If Black Ops wasn't already purchased FOR me, I would not be getting it.

In fact, I am willing to bet money that quick scope glitching, and a host of issues found in past CoD titles, will STILL be present.

Sales vs quality argument.

Sales aren't perfectly correlated to quality, but even so there is a correlation; you just have to apply all factors of which sales is a key one.

We can all pick out exceptions to the rule, ( britney / mcds - yawn ), but it would be remiss to exclude sales as a valid indicator.

I don't know. I think if it weren't for that multiplayer video we got some time ago I wouldn't be in the least bit interested. Buying CoD for the sp campaign is like buying a Big Mac for the ketchup packets.

Thankfully, that mp video was awesome and I do believe the added online features are going to be the best yet. Only question still remaining for me, is whether or not Treyarch has somehow discovered the ability to design great online levels.
