PSXE Poll Update: Uncharted 3 Most Wanted PS3 Game

Well, we don't blame the readers one bit. And in fact, we agree.

While the huge Grand Theft Auto following gave it a run for its money, Naughty Dog's Uncharted 3 won out as the most wanted PS3 title. It's not hard to understand how the upcoming third installment in the franchise - which hasn't been officially unveiled, but is most certainly in development - beat out both Grand Theft Auto V and Final Fantasy Versus XIII. It's obvious: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was one of the most memorable video game experiences in history, and is widely considered to be the best title of the generation thus far. It's interesting, though...although the original Drake's Fortune was excellent, would you have predicted that Uncharted 3 would outstrip the industry's biggest names in a "most wanted" competition? It's just incredible what Naughty Dog has managed to do, and we all wait with bated breath for the unveiling of the third iteration. It's going to be one hell of a production.

Now, we turn our attention to potential Game of the Year candidates. We're in November now and there are only a few titles left that have a chance of being GotY. Now, our question isn't what you think should win the illustrious award, but which title do you think will win here at PSXE...? We might be leaning in a surprising direction... So what say you?

I say Heavy Rain or Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood....I won't make my final decision until I get the latter.

But if the vote ends before the 16th, HR hands down.

I don't think ACB is going to take it. There are just too many other games. Better games. Not saying ACB is a bad game but the beta was pretty lack luster and the AC franchise, having a nice following, just isn't GOTY quality. Especially when compared to the other games we have seen this year.

I have to kind of agree with Mell. I personally would like to see God of War III or GT5 win, i wouldn't be surprised of RDR wins. It wasn't my personal favorite but it was a fresh titles in a sea of FPS's.

To be honest Jawknee, I hate deciding the GOTY, there's always a high level of quality of games releasing every year IMO, because the games I WANT to buy and WANT to play, are usually 90+ games, when it comes to scores.

This year alone, a couple of the many games I bought were Red Dead Redemption, Heavy Rain, Mass Effect 2, and Halo: Reach. Quality games, and I never like to favour one game I own over another because I always get this bad feeling in my stomach; I love all my games, they're like my children, in that I can't prefer one over the another, to the extent that the game I chose is GOTY material, that it's above on it own level compared to the rest.

Because all the games I've bought and played this generation so far are GOTY material to me, and I get really appreciative when I have a list or poll to work with because my answer wouldn't be specific, it would always be "all" or "every game I own is GOTY to me".

Hence my answer, based off of the poll here at PSXExtreme, is either HR or AC:Brotherhood, because I feel that my two picks had and will have respectively, a huge impact on the industry.

So I'm happy if most if the accolades go to either one of them when the aswesome PSXE crew present the awards at the end of the year.

Yea i just can't see what ACB is going to bring to the industry the previous two games didn't. Yea it has multiplayer that could be cool but judging from the beta, its kinda meh. I know what your saying i just think if AC was going to revolutionize the industry or genre it would have already.

i say heavy rain wins at PSXE just by knowing how much they fell in love with it... GT5 shouldn't even be a choice but it's holding second place for some reason... and god of war III, while GREAT, was just more of the same... my pick is either red dead redemption or fallout new vegas... with heavy rain in 3rd place of course...

i've done all there is to do with RDR and loved every minute of it... i am 50 hours into fallout new vegas and i am not even close to seeing all there is to see, lol... and heavy rain WOW'd me, just like it did for the staff here... so currently, RDR would be my pick... but in a couple more weeks it will probably be new vegas, once i finally beat it...

I picked The Last Guardian. Love me some Uncharted but we already got two Uncharted games this gen and zero from Team ICO.

EDIT: Black Ops winning GOTY...that's funny. :P

EDIT 2: I guess Joe Danger is equally funny. Haha!

Indeed Uncharted 3, I got a hunch that it will be announced at E3 2011.

As for GOTY at PSXE, I'd say it'll be GT5.
And obviously the top 2 is GT5 and GOWIII.
RDR will eventually fall behind and Heavy Rain will catch up.

Well, I started my gaming year with Valkyria Chronicles, after that Uncharted 2, then I replayed GTAIV (with trophies now, then it was all about my 2nd playtrough Fallout 3 (with trophies too, then I started playing my 2ndplaytrough Dragon Quest VII, then I bought Infamous, played it, then Ratchet and Clank Tools of Destruction. Between all of them there was always a little bit of Disgaea 3 and Demon´s souls,.

Between GT5, Heavy Rain, GOW3, RDR, AC:B, and COD:BO, I'd say it it would be a safe bet to say GT5 wins...IF, that is, it makes it in the holiday season. Let's hope for the best, so to speak.

So many good games...so many seem to be worthy GOTY contenders in my book. Generally, I'm leaning toward GoW3, HR, GT5, RDR, and ACB. From there I'd dwindle it down to HR, GoW3, and ACB. Then maybe HR and ACB. Those two will battle it out for the prize. (Considering ACB doesn't commit seppuku). Pretty epic list you got there.

Pretty sure it's only your opinion that RDR is better than those PS3 exclusives you listed...an opinion not shared by most critics, by the way.

And based on the review scores for New Vegas, it's highly doubtful ANY source will nominate it for GotY.

So i guess we can cross out RDR, that leaves HR (Ben's personal favorite), GOW3 (Arnold was happy to review instead of HR), GT5 (if it makes it this year, and we know both Ben & Arnold are automotive enthusiasts), AC:B, and COD:BO (see what i did thar). Since it will be a mutually agree upon choice between Ben & Arnold, GT5 has the strongest chance if it makes it by the holiday season. If not, there will be a banging of heads!

GOW3 only because it's one of those exclusives that pushes the console to new limits, however would imagine GT5 plans to do the same.
However I feel that peace walker should get some kind of honourable mention.

Yeah, Uncharted 3. I think that was a given. If ND push it as hard as they pushed Among Theives, it will creep into the best game ever crypt and steal the title from whatever Nintendo game is currently holding it. The Last Guardian is a close second.

My personal GotY is probably Enslaved. It may not have the most refined gameplay, or be especially technically proficient, but the storytelling is rock solid and moreover believable, and it is fun.

Considering that it isn't on the list, I'm going to say Heavy Rain. Although GT5 is a very solid contender. The only other possibilities (IMO) are GoWIII and RDRedemption, but I don't think either was strong enough to pull it.

Well my GOTY is Fallout New Vegas so far. GOWIII is a good second with RDR following it. Heavy Rain may be GOTY based on originality. Let me see how AC Brotherhood turns out. ACII wasn't GOTY quality so nothing gives me incentive to believe this will be either.

God of War 3 was an amazingly epic title, one of my fav games i own. the scale and intensity of some parts made my adrenaline pump bigtime. but i reckon it will have to be read dead. only because it has heaps of replay value. once u finish G.O.W 3, twice. you have to wait at least half a year or so before you can play through it again for you to feel pumped up again.

with read dead there was soooooooooo much opportunity to create your own fun. like punching out a whore at the pub then hog tieing her chuckin her on the back of ya horse taking off to a train track under a bright full moon dumpin her onit and sit back and have a smoke. hahahahahahahahahahah

HR. Coz its a 10 in "hook" factor. Uncharted 2 never let me go until i finished it. RDR, while engaging, had some start-up time to get me into it. GTA4, i still hadn't come around to playing since the first few missions aren't too interesting IMO. GoW3, epic scale but its a bit like a "been there, done that" game (which isn't a bad thing for GOW) that didn't bring much new in terms of gameplay, but then again, it retaliated with grand locations.

Then again, GT5 is coming....

Some of those games aren't even out yet, so I don't know. If there's one thing that the last few weeks should have taught us, it's that pre-release hype is absolutely no guarantee of ultimate quality.

It isn't a surprise that Uncharted 3 is the most wanted. Most of the people on this site are loyal PS3 fans. No multi-plat stood a chance in that survey. I'm not saying its undeserving though. In fact, I can't F'n wait for UC3. I still play at least 2 hours a day in the multiplayer deathmatch because its just so sick! I hope they put a good story in like the one in Drakes Fortune and add to the multiplayer. This is a pre-order game for me and I rarely pre-order any game. Oh and they better have Chloe in UC3. In fact, she needs her own game.

Oh by the way. I'm glad we finally got a good weekly poll question. The last couple of poll questions were kinda of weak and predictable. The poll question above is very intriguing. My guess is heavy rain, gt5, or ac: brotherhood! Those seem to be among the favorites, although it's tough to say the 2 of the 3 havnt been released.

My personal goty so far is RDR! I love this game, and the undead nightmare dlc only solidified it as my fav. Game this year!

I was telling Maxpontiac I havnt yet got to play new Vegas which a lot of people are liking, and we also still have big titles left to be released so who knows how I'll feel 2 months from now but RDR is #1 in my book!

I would say GOW3 as well. No it didn't do anything new, but it was almost perfect in every way. Plus i thought it ended the trilogy with justice.Just so epic!!! RDR was uber fantastic and a great accomplishment, its one of the only open world games that i've played all the way through. Such a great game. Heavy Rain was fanstastic as well and i think it deserves to be on the list just because it is such a new experience. For best shooter of the year... BFBC2 hands down. I really liked Bayonetta too even though it was a bit broken on the PS3. And i'm just going to throw this out there cuz it's one of my favorite games, FIFA 11. It's just one of my GOY's. Nothing more...

My winner is GOW3. I believe Heavy Rain will win the PSX GOTY. I am not entertaining a release of GT5 for this year until the game is in my hands.

Ben, Is it possible to institute some sort of member voting system? You know, "You have been voted OFF the Island" type of thing. I ask this because everyday I see a comment or two that are simply there to derail the entire thread. This site is not alone of course but this is the only site I actually care to protect from just plain illogical behavior. I admit that the exchanges are quite entertaining but it seems that in general the membership prefers to remain on topic and if there is to be a debate it will be with true passion and honest opinion. As well as respect for those personal opinions. I know that it is a very sensitive topic looking at it from an administrative point of view but give it some consideration.

About the next poll, there is a problem. I know that Spike's VGA were held on the 16th last year. They most likely will be held around the same time this year. If they have the awards show and Gran Turismo 5 is not released yet, that creates a problem. What if Gran Turismo 5 is really the best game of the 2010?

Spikes VGA's aren't the end all be all of Game awards. In fact, most people i know take what Spikes VGA say with a grain of salt. If GT5 is all it's cracked up to be then it will get the recognition it deserves. Spikes VGA show fails most of the time anyway.

I still can't believe that many people like the GTA franchise... I mean, there are games I don't like that I can understand other people liking (GOW, I believe is an amazing franchise, but it doesn't click with me, for example), but I just don't get GTA... I don't get it!
