EA Puts NBA Elite 11 On The Bench
Well, considering the situation, it was probably the right move.
EA recently scrapped the long-running NBA Live franchise and had intended the new NBA Elite name to take its place. However, EA Sports was inclined to delay the game until next year, all the while watching 2K Sports grab the attention of all b-ball fans with the stellar NBA 2K11. Now, EA has announced that the reboot, NBA Elite 11, has been canceled. The update came as part of EA's post-earnings conference call but the company wouldn't give any particulars about the cancellation; all they would say is that any future Elite titles would be handled by Madden developer EA Tiburon. NBA Elite 11 had been in the works at EA Canada. Analyst Michael Pachter had stated that the unfortunate delay would've cost EA around $60 million, and publisher Take-Two stands to make a killing in Elite's absence.
Well, now that basketball aficionados know there is only one game that might satisfy their desire, they can just pick up NBA 2K11. No worrying about whether or not they should wait.
