Sony Replenishes Move Stock In Reply To Kinect Launch

Microsoft's Kinect is all primed and ready to go but Sony already got a jump with their new motion-sensing technology, PlayStation Move.

And just in time to counter the launch of Kinect, Sony has restocked retailers with plenty of Move controllers and accessories. This according to Punch Jump, which reports that GameStop has announced Move restocking this week. Move has been increasingly tough to find but GameStop now has Move in stock (on their website and at many brick-and-mortar stores); high demand has caused it to disappear quickly from the likes of Wal-Mart and Amazon.com. Released on September 17, Sony has reported that over 1 million units had been sold in the Americas, with another 1.5 million in Europe (we have yet to get numbers from Japan). A bunch of Move-oriented titles are already available and many more are in the works; if you didn't already know, you can grab a Move controller for $49.99, a Navigation controller for $29.99, or a Move bundle that includes the wand controller, the PlayStation Eye, and a copy of Sports Champions for $99.99. Got yours yet?

So far, Sports Champions has proven to be a solid launch title, although admittedly, Time Crisis: Razing Storm was a mess. But we're fairly certain that the best Move stuff is yet to come...

Good call on Sony's part. I really am unhappy Time Crisis turned out so poorly as I am a giant fan of light gun games but I have high hopes for Sorcery!

They should also make a new commercial with Kevin Butler.

I like the original one but I've seen it too much already. Make a new one!

By making a new one it'll also feel as if it's just as new as Kinect.

already bought the move and directional controller.....there was a deal at toysRus for buy 2 get 1 free....couldnt pass that up :) the next move title that looks somewhat interesting is Sorcery

Still not in the sweet spot price range for me and I know it isn't up to PSXE to report much on the competition so I should do my homework because I'm kind of curious about what a Kinect lineup for launch titles will look like.

i saw an article on kotaku where people in new york are lining up to get kinect now, it releases the 4th. the reason theyre doing that is because microsoft is giving away 150 bucks worth of kinect stuff to the first 3000. i guess they're trying to pad their sales figures. they were giving away 3 games so i guess they can say those games at least sold 3000 at launch.

on a seperate topic, i was just at my local frys and this guy just dumped 4 move and 4 navigation controllers into his basket. told him ps3 can only handle 7 bluetooth contollers, guy didnt listen and bought a few charge stations.

I have both a 360 & PS3, but the only thing I've seen from the kinect so far is you being able to interact with all the apps thats on live via voice command & a interactive pets game for small children & of course the infamous lose weight exercise thingy or whatever the hell that exercise game was suppose to be that they showed earlier this year. I could be thinking about it to much after all I don't think that kinect is aimed at they're hardcore gamers. I'll admit that the voice command concept is kinda cool if all you want to do is just browse the menu & all the apps, but playing actually games & I'm not talking bout the little pet game for kids. I honestly don't see the 360 gamers being able to play halo or they're precious gears of war games with Kinect, or maybe Microsoft will comes up with something, who knows I could be wrong of course.

I don't know that this helps people or not, but Costco has the move sports champions bundle for $89.99 rather than $99.99. It. Isn't much but ten bux is ten bux! Then again costco makes you pay annually.

Kinect is going to sell... bigtime. I don't know if Sony will be able to stand against it to be honest, particularly not with the rather weak Move line-up. Sports Champions is certainly a solid title, but everything else that I've seen which requires Move is a bit... iffy. Of course I'm only talking about what has been released. There's plenty of promise in the future.

Kinect is aimed at the casuals and knows it, although I'm surprised I haven't yet seen a Play School styled title for it. I mean, the concept is brilliant. Play School + Kinect and parents would go gaga for it for their children... I should stop trying to give MS ideas.

And exactly what titles does the kinect have thats going to determine whether or not it sells.... big time, please by all means enlighten us on this topic, cause from what I've seen kinect is a voice command gimmick for all the apps and menus & thats about it. If the move library is weak then kinect lineup is even worse. Not to mention the games kinda look like crap.

I've not really seen anything for the Kinect that screams "purchase", either. The only piece of software that held my attention was that creepy "Project Milo" thing and that's coming out for it, from what I've read.

I can tell you that i dislike motion gaming but consider Move the top dog in that area, but he's right, Kinect will outsell Move and sell....bigtime.

At GAME today, one guy was in the office all day phoning people to collect the Kinect pre orders on said date. He said they're through the roof.

We may not like it, agree with it, but Kinect will be a fad for awhile and could be dangerous....and this is despite quality. We all know s**t sells more most times.

I'm not saying it has the apps to sell, but there are a ridiculous amount of people that have bought into the gimmick, and with MS's marketing campaign, you can only bet that it is going to happen. From what I gather though, it works as a fitness machine far better than does the Wii, simply because the movements are registered.

Unbelievers rejoice, but let's wait to see who is right when the sales figures start trickling in. I hope it doesn't sell, but I don't doubt that it will, that all I'm saying.

still yet to play a game to justify the purchase.
played the shoot yesterday, and it was well whats the easiest and shortest way to say infuriating and broken?
all the action shots have a specific move and they NEVER work!
the slow time one has you swing the controller like a lasso over your head in a 360 degree circle, i would be lassoing like a veteran cowboy and it wont work.
the shock wave has you point the controller at the ground and fire.
so i point the controller at the ground and fired, and the game fires a bullet instead and i loose my multiplier!
than theres the rapid fire, exact same thing as the shock wave except you point your controller up instead of down.
same result though.
o, and before you ask, yes i did have plenty of the moves.
the fight lights out is not exactly getting good reviews, nor is time crisis!
move at the moment is looking like the biggest waste of cash in the history of the industry!
hopefully eccochrome 2 can change that, when it actually releases!

The 360 move, you are supposed to spin you whole body around with the controller, not just spin it over your head like a lasso... Wow you really are a "casual" gamer. Other than that, for what's out so far, I'm enjoying the Move.

Heavy Rain with the Move is a blast. Tiger Woods took a little getting used to but I'm having fun with it. As for future games? You know that they're only going to get better.

The Move is doing exactly what it's meant to..give you an different way to experience a game, with PS3 graphics and potential. Sure Time Crisis kind of crapped out, but as Ben said in the review, it's only in the Career Mode. Arcade mode is as good as it was in Arcades.

Definitely looking forward to trying Killzone 3 move and Socom 4. It won't replace the DS3 for me, but it will be fun to switch it up with the move every now and then.

But maybe that's just me..I have a tendency to look at things a little more positively, instead of simply bitching about the fact the I don't have the patience to try and figure something out....

Just kidding :P I'm honest to god surprised at those sales figures, I thought it would get about 1 million worldwide in the first week then just a few thousand each month. Kudos to sony though, hell if there's a price drop for them I'll pick it up at christmas!

I'm enjoying Playstation Move more than I thought I would. I already have PSMOve and quite a few big budget games that support it (Heavy Rain, MAG, RE5, and Sport Champions which is actually LOTS of fun). Sorry Kinect, you were too late to the party and I still don't like the idea of NO controller...

Now that I think about how are they going to aim the kinect at causal gamers when the majority of they're gamers lean more towards the hardcore crowd. Considering that the majority of the 360 library is compose of 1st person & 3rd person shooters, how exactly are they gonna be able to play those games without some kind of controller. I see kinect selling even less then the move has.

I was never really excited about motion controls and I'm even less excited by Kinect. But for sh@ts and giggles, got in on the Burger King contest to win one thinking it was never going to happen. Of course, I won. Still don't give a crap and I'm probably going to put it up on Ebay as soon as I get it. Is there anyone that is excited for this thing?

I got my codes e-mailed for free and won on the third code I entered. I would give it away but I have a sneaking suspicion that this is going to sell to the un-informed masses (i.e. non-hardcore gamers) so I might be able to turn a good profit off this when I receive it next month and sell it on Ebay (assuming that it sells out in stores).

That's all cool and great...but what Sony NEEDS to do is to lower their prices for the move I don't want to pay $40 to 50 dollars for just one wand!! LOL
