1 Million Move Units In North America, More Titles Coming
Sony has provided an official update on the status of their new motion-sensing technology, PlayStation Move.
You may visit the PlayStation Blog for the news: the gist of it is that Sony has shipped 1 million Move units in North America, and the library of Move-compatible titles continues to grow. Coming up are games like The Fight: Lights Out, SingStar Dance, and the Sly Collection. Next year, even bigger titles will feature Move capability; you'll be able to play super huge games like Killzone 3, LittleBigPlanet 2 and SOCOM 4 with Move. If you haven't yet sprung for the new peripheral, here's a list of the current titles:
- Brunswick Pro Bowling
- EyePet
- Get Fit With Mel B
- Heavy Rain
- High Velocity Bowling
- Hustle Kings
- John Daly’s ProStroke Golf
- Kung Fu Rider
- MAG
- NBA 2K11
- Planet Minigolf
- Racquet Sports
- Rapala Pro Bass Fishing
- Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition
- R.U.S.E
- Sports Champions
- Start The Party!
- The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn’s Quest
- The Shoot
- Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2011
- Time Crisis: Razing Storm
- Toy Story 3: The Video Game
- Tumble
- TV Superstars
Even if you're not convinced just yet, Move still has a long ways to go. We'll be interested to see how things progress, and whether or not it proves to be a better motion option that Microsoft's Kinect, which launches this week.

In a word: absolutely. In more words: absolutely, so long as you don't mind sacrificing all of the dignity you've spent your whole life accruing. We've spent several days playing our way through the launch titles and concluded that it's impossible to maintain any sense of self-respect while playing. Although different games will vary in how physically demanding they are, most will have you leaping, ducking, waving and kicking invisible opponents in the shins. It's embarrassing, but that's a big part of the fun. Similarly, watching your friends flailing around like loonies is a treat not to be missed.
Playing Kinect is also exhausting. We may be out-of-shape journalists, but we defy anyone not to end up panting. If you have kids, the attraction of a gadget that's both entertaining and exhausting will be strong. We found that Kinect frequently lagged or failed in its attempts at tracking us mid-game, but we'd be lying through our teeth if we said that these issues stopped us enjoying ourselves.
Kinect won't satisfy the hard-core gaming crowd, but we think it'll delight children and make for an excellent entertainment piece at any party. There are a few things that might stymie your enjoyment of Microsoft's motion-gaming monolith, though."
playing without a degnity ,LOL this is something new

Basically, MS understands they have a very tiny window of opportunity to sell the most possible units, and that is right now. I don't see any sustained sales opportunities for this.
The Move might be different though. It could see a steady growth in ownership as I am sure a lot of PS3 owners are taking a wait and see approach to it, wanting to see how developers can integrate it into their games.

But please note that the story is reported without that qualification about the US market, so it' looks like IDC are reporting that Kinect will outsell Move overall.
Gotta love that kind of sloppy reporting and biased research.

No, I don't know many people with the amount of empty open space in front of their TV that Kinect requires. Even if they do ship 5 million, I will always wonder how many are actually bought by consumers (and not given away by BK), and not permanently stored in a closet.

Dance Central and Michael Jackson The Experience for Kinect.
I know it sounds weird to buy a peripheral just for 1 or 2 decent games, but when they're dancing games of this quality, I personally like it and would get it.
Move will be on my wish list once Sorcery and Killzone 3 are out. And SOCOM 4. Actually, apart from dancing and health games, Kinect really doesn't have as much going for it.

Michael Jackson is coming for the Move too, so expect more-precise dancing in that version.
Dance Dance Revolution is releasing for the Move this month.
Finally, Singstar Dance is also releasing on the Move this month.
There, the Move has your dancing covered.

The only reason that people were standing in line for two days, was because the word "FREE" was attached to M$'s Times Square Event.
They gave away some various FREE Xboxs, Kinect's, 2 or 3 Kinect games, free 1 year XBox Live Gold cards, plus some other minor swag.
I'll make bet that if the word "free wasn't thrown in, it would've been much more of a non-event no-show than what the Brinks trucks that M$ paid out their wazoo, to make it seem like.
Anyway with M$'s $500 million+ ad campaign my opinion is that I don't foresee M$ making much mony on Kinect, and here's why.....
M$ doesn't care about the profit since they're already rich with filthy money, it's all about big numbers.
M$'s mentality is to just keep on trying to flood the market with their inferior products in the hope of sinking all their competition, no matter what the cost....
just as they've always tried to do.
But guess what, M$???

THat's okay though. PR tricks will sell it through, though. That's right. The day before it launches MS builds hype by claiming it'll sell, not 3million, BUT 5 million units before yesterday folks!
Do I hear 7, 8, even 10 million?
Remember 360's unveiling event that had MS announcing they hope to have 1billion 360's in households across the globe?... (maybe it wasn't a billion but it was some astronomical number no one would believe)

another thing to consider is that they're practically giving kinect away, to inflate the numbers in my opinion. The toys r us in new york will give out 150 dollars worth of kinect games to the first 3000 customers on launch day. i believe that they give away 3 games free but they will still charge $60 retail for kinect games. not kinect compatible games, the ones that can only be used with kinect.
theres also a publicity stunt where mark wahlberg is giving away a bunch of kinect hardware to some boys and girls club charity. aside from that, they're pulling out all the stops and having a huge kinect launch party. check kotaku for picture, its just plain stupid. They're really trying to sell this hardware on hype alone and sadly theres a lot of idiots that will buy this stunt.

if your releasing a new product your suppose to release it with plenty of accessories.
its like ford releasing a new car, having thousands of orders than when they come in they tell the customer o sorry we actually have not had time to get some proper tires for it so you wont be able to drive it for another 8 months.
WTF is the point of releasing something if you cant use it with anything worthwhile?
heavy rain is the only decent game that supports move at the moment, and why would you go back and play it if you already have the plat like i and many already do?

What I think is interesting (and the story about Richard Marks the other day backs this up) is that Sony has experience selling motion control accessories with the EyeToy and PSEye. So they know what the normal take-up rate of such things is, and yet they underestimated the demand a bit. Even so, it's clear that Sony anticipated that demand would not be in the 3-5 million range in the US market , unlike another console company. I have a feeling that either there will be a lot of Kinect boxes on shelves, or there will be a lot of Kinect units in closets post-Christmas.
I'm actually beginning to really hate the constant US centric numbers game that some in the gaming media and Microsoft wish to continue to play. They will talk of the US market in isolation without making it clear that they are talking about the US market and not the Global picture. So you see headlines like "IDC : Kinect to Outsell Move!", which might (stress *might*) be true in the US, but is most certainly not true in the Global market. It's the same smoke and mirrors game that allowed Microsoft to talk up the US sales position of the 360 vs PS3 as if it was the Global picture. It's the same smoke and mirrors game that has led to a legion of fanboys who are not aware that outside the US, the PS3 has been outselling the 360 for at least two years.
I know that the console fan wars have existed for longer than this generation, but this generation seems to have been dominated by false and misleading propaganda much more than the previous generation, and has been much more vitriolic than before too. It's odd considering that the Internet is supposed to be this great and neutral source of information. the internet has instead become one of the greatest tools of mis-information ever devised, and people just continue to lap it up.
The Eye of Moron - how I hate thee.

Move gaming is going good. I must say the learning curve isn't steep as much as it is different. Toss in two moves and I feel like a patient trying to overcome symptoms of turrets.. not sure that's how your spell it! Hah! Absolutely blows my mind away with it's accuracy, though. The gladiator game on sports champions has some minor quirks when doing moves in succession, but it feels like glitches that are software related..

M$ you make a fool of your shelfs, Kenict is a joke. Your 360 is one as well. lol
I wonder if m$ didn't have the money they do, say the same as Sony where they will be in the video game market, would they still be producing the 360.
