Rumor: New SSX In The Works
What was the best PS2 launch title? The correct answer - at least as far as critics were concerned - was obvious: SSX.
And although it spawned plenty of new installments, we haven't heard from the acclaimed series for some time. This is why long-time fans are now very excited: according to Superannuation and as noted by Scrawl, EA has recently registered five new domain names related to the popular franchise. All the domains hint at the name of the title - "SSX: Deadly Descent" - although we have no further information at this time.
Existing domains are: DeadlyDescent.com, DeadlyDescents.com, SSXDeadlyDescent.com, SSXDeadlyDescents.com, and SSXFirstDescent.com. As Scrawl points out, the latter might be for a PSP/DS version of a new SSX entry. And you know, we really haven't had an awesome snowboarding game this generation, although Shaun White Snowboarding was decent. The return of SSX would be absolutely huge, and we're hoping EA makes it official some time soon...perhaps before the year is out.
Yeah, we know, you bought your PS2 for Tekken Tag Tournament, right? But SSX was basically godly at that time.

On Tour was ok but I prefer the original characters to the "create your own character" deal.
it's kinda lazy of them not to develop previous characters while creating new ones.
Snowboarders with personalities > Player created characters.
I'm a BIG fan of snowboarding games. Going all the way back to Cool Boarders 2 and 3 and 1080 for N64.
I hope this is true. Imagine what the snow will look like on these consoles :O man....
Can't wait. This will easily be one of my most anticipated games if true.
I think what killed SSX after its many releases was the fact that they cheapened out and wanted to release it on every console/handheld they could. A lot of copy-pasting from their previous games.... Over saturation kinda killed it.
Just focus on a ps3 version and we'll be set.
I hope it focuses more on racing than on tricks this time too. The original SSXs were true "racing" titles. But as they went on the "tricks" part kinda overwhelmed the experience imo.
Haha yeah I love snowboarding games.

And it would be epic if they brought back the tricky bar, the best part of the second game

And I never bought Tekken Tag Tournament. Tekken just plain sucks in my opinion.
Wish they'd hurry and bring us Killer Instinct 3. They started it soon after KI2, but never finished :(

To me, the series has really been up and down but I'll gladly welcome a new installment since there's been a definite lack of awesome snowboarding games on this new generation of consoles. I just hope it's better that the SSX that appeared on the Wii.
