Japan Studio Reveals PSN Move Title: Beat Sketcher

Japan Studio always has interesting ideas. The latest combines rhythm and drawing, and it looks pretty darn cool.

As revealed at the PlayStation Blog, Beat Sketcher is designed for the PlayStation Move and will be available on the PSN by Thanksgiving. Basically, one utilizes the Move controller as a drawing tool or paintbrush; if you need to practice, you can try copying brushstrokes in the Challenge Mode, or experiment with friends. Then there's the appealing Creation Mode, where you simply create an image from scratch. The twist is that the developers have implemented...well, "beats," as the title implies. You can follow those rhythmic beats and sound effects are attached to your brush movements; it's sort of hard to explain, so watch the demonstration video at the Blog. Said Sound Creator Ichiro Ebisu:

"I tried to express that this game allows not just to draw, but also to generate music made with individual sounds by each stroke, which is Beat Sketcher’s unique feature. Also, I completed the artwork making full use of the ‘Auto Sound Tool Select’ feature and ‘Eyedropper Tool’, and tried not to use the Tool window as much as I could."

So, who's willing to give it a try in a few weeks time? It certainly looks interesting, and one could really flex some significant creative muscle. And remember, they say you don't need to be an artist to have fun, so accessibility shouldn't be an issue.
