Tweet Your Support: Get Namco To Bring Us Tales
It's not so much that JRPGs don't exist anymore, it's that they don't seem to exist over here. Publishers like Namco Bandai think we can't tear ourselves away from Call of Duty long enough to care about anything else.
But we know role-playing fans still exist, and we think enough people would buy a game like Tales of Vesperia to make it worth Namco's while to bring it stateside. That clearly isn't going to happen - although it almost seemed inevitable at one point - and we never got the upgraded Tales of Graces, either. So, for our strong RPG following at PSXE, we turn you to RPG Land: it may or may not work but at least it's something. At least it's proactive. Namco just refuses to bring any Tales titles to the US and if you want that to change, hop on Twitter and post the following:
"@NamcoGames + @namcobandai I would buy Tales games for PS3."
Yeah, there's no knowing how many people would need to do this to warrant Namco's attention. But you never know what might happen... And the ideal result would be that Namco responds and when they make a bit of money with their new US endeavor, other Japanese publishers might do the same. In many ways, we should really thank NIS for bringing us so many JRPGs in the past few years because the sub-genre is running really low, and is almost dead on consoles.
Anyway, off to post ourselves. ...are we really the only ones who wouldn't mind playing some Black Ops and a Tales game in the same day? Sadly, we just might be...

Namco - Keeps on supporting the wrong console and then don't mind keeping some games exclusive to Japan while posting loss.
SE - They got too many fans so now they're trying to get rid of them all.
Alrighty then, a message to them, 君たちは愚かです!!!!!!

Wait, what? Tales of Graces F isn't even out in Japan yet, so it's a little early to be giving up on it. Of course since we didn't get the original Wii version either it seems unlikely.
I played through Vesperia PS3 in Japanese and really enjoyed it (it was a great way to practice my Japanese, too). I'm thinking I might import Graces F as well. Got to love region-free systems like the PS3.

Of course while I was att it I added a similar message for Xenosaga and one for Soul Coliabur 5 for good measure. If the dolts at namco games can pay attention to one message they can pay attention to them all. If not, it makes no difference anyway, so nothing to lose...Tweet away!
Since they already have the game working on PS3 in Japan and the majority of the voice work was already done for Vesperia (on 360), it can't cost more than $1M to localize and publish. Considering that they will net a minimum of $20 per copy sold, that's only 50,000 copies to make a profit in the western market. There's simply no way that they can fail to make some profit on a localized tales game. It makes zero sense to keep them in Japan only.
The same is true of the Idolmaster games. Once again, not releasing these games on PS3 is simply leaving money on the table. Namco really must not want to make money at all.

It was weird there was a Kratos in that game though, and he didn't eviscerate anyone...
I'm sick of this anti-RPG industry we have now. There is (or should be) room for all genres, even if they will never hit Call of Duty numbers. RPG is and will continue to be my favorite genre, FF7 being my favorite game of all time. Why did it have to change?
I was talking to a good friend at work the other day, and I showed him an article for The Last Guardian, and I expressed to him how I excited I am for that game. He took a look at the article, looked at me with a confused look on his face, and asked, "Why?" Now keep in mind this is a gamer that only plays CoD games and Madden. My response to him was "You just don't get it, man."
The sad reality is, this is the predominant gamer type today. We are a dying breed, my friends. And that saddens me.

And apparently there's this new Tales game which is exclusive to PS3, I'm not concern if it will stay exclusive but will it make it's way out of Japan?
