Gran Turismo 5 Course Maker Footage

The purpose of this story? To show you that if you so choose, you could allow Gran Turismo 5 to swallow your life for the next year.

Typically reserved for the hardcore racing enthusiasts, this is a franchise that has never skimped on content or detail, and that goes double - or perhaps quadruple - for GT5, which features quite the robust course maker option. To get a better look at the creative process, check out this new video that popped up on YouTube recently. There are quite a few preset tracks to toy around with; you can set all sorts of parameters for each new track you make, and then you can head out and take a test spin.

It doesn't seem that difficult but it should make for some very interesting personal productions, and it certainly gives racing fans another great option. GT5 will be more customizable and more "free" than any entry in the past, and that fits right in line with this new generation. And now that we have only a week and a half to wait, we're starting to salivate...how's about you?  Or are you more of a Need for Speed follower?

I definitely love this series more than the NFS series. Counting down the days until I get to create some tracks. I hope it is truly 10 days left and not another pseudo-date.

Well... that is slightly underwhelming. I suppose that with a bit of practise anyone would be able to make the track of their dreams, but that video leaves me feeling a little let down by this portion of the game. But what in the hell am I complaining about? 27 unique tracks, over 1000 cars, go-karts, some of the best graphics and lighting effects ever seen in a game and a course creator. Forza-whatnow? I reckon this will actually be quite fun, making impossible tracks :D.
Peace.

Hot damn, does anyone else just totally dig the laidback music/sound effects of all Gran Turismo menu's? Absolutely love the sounds they use, maybe it's just me.

Can't wait for this though, I love Laguna Seca, and I will be spending countless thousands of laps on Nurburgring, but being able to throw a new track out there and taste it brand new each time, that's going to add a great layer of uniqueness to this series.

Nov. 24th is going to be a great day in the history of gaming.

Thefootage looked as though the resolution and color depth (n particular) had been dropped to shrink the filesize. On my screen it looked more like test footage than game footage. This is one of the problems with trying to take 1080p video and compress it sufficiently to send across the web. By the time you're done, the resolution is crap and the color depth is crappier.

It's not the "same." The style is the same, but the songs themselves are different.

It's like FF. You can recognize FF music when you hear it. Speciall if it's composed by Nobuo Uematsu.

THIS IS Gran Turismo after all.
And it's not the same, it just reminds you of the past GT music.

It's like keeping something same and fresh.

GT's music has always been about class.

Classy music fits what GT is all about to a "T".

I'm going to try to get the best out of this course creator. Not that it makes/breaks the game for me or anything (and it shouldn't for anyone else either). But it should be fun trying to see if one can build an amazing track.

Since I know Red Rock Valley from GT2 won't make it in, I hope I can do something similar to it. That track is still my favorite of all time...

I seriously hope they consider bringing back more race tracks from past GTs.

All I ask is for Red Rock Valley though...

The game has more course, cars and features than any racer I know of, and you're bitching about it already? Crap you're a negative person.

weather effects, night and day cycles, they originally promised the game would be locked at 60FPS, but a few weeks ago kaz said it drops below that at times.
dont have many tracks either.
they FINALLY added in damage effects, but, well if those ferrari pics we saw a while ago are what the retail build is like, i wish they left it out!
since when does a crashed car look like melted plastic?
should of hired the guys at criterion, the damage effects in burnout paradise looked amazing!
i know im being harsh on this, but come on they have spent 6+ years making this dam thing, so excuse me for expecting perfection!

Weather effects:Check
Day and Night cycles:Check
The game only drops the framerate when all 16 cars are on the track and raining. Considering that the game is rendering all that at 1280x1080 is absolutely amazing.
More tracks:DLC
Damage:Check

Be able to play GT5 for the next entire year: priceless!!!
