Prince Of Persia Trilogy Gracing US Network Soon

In addition to Ubisoft's financial report, we got some game news, too.

Although both Driver and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier have been pushed back, one particularly appealing collection is headed to the PlayStation Store. The Prince of Persia Trilogy, which features high-definition remakes of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones, will soon be headed to the US PSN. This cool collection was initially announced as a retail release for European, Middle Eastern and African territories, and it seems the disc version will remain exclusive to those regions. But hey, if you want the shinier, glossier versions of three pretty great PS2 games, you can always download them when they become available. We don't have a price or release date for the collection just yet but it's enough to know it's coming.

If you're unfamiliar, these were three very well received titles, although Warrior Within wasn't quite so impressive in the eyes of many.

So it is possible to get it delivered/imported to North American (both Canada or USA) from Amazon.co.uk then? Also I've read that games aren't region locked, thus can be played on any PS3, however movies are and can only be played in that specific region?
Thanks for your time and input.

games are region free, movies are not.
though you have to be careful, all games are region free, but most DLC is not.
i imported rock band 2 since it did not release here from the US, than bought a heap of DLC from the AU store and it would not work.
I rang sony and they told me most DLC is region locked to your game, so if you have a US game you must have US DLC.

I've never been able to get into the PoP's. I know the games were recognized for their great animation, and it seemed like they were the games that sort of kicked off the "bloom lighting" craze during that era. I'm semi-curious about these HD releases, though. If the price is right, I may give 'em a shot... that is, of course, if nothing else is stealing away my time. =)

BUt why no disc version?

I like fighters, and most arcade style "pick-up and play" games in digital--you never know when you get that "fast twitch'n urge."

But for basically every other type of game, I'd rather have them disc based. I value my HDD space. And it's always nice looking at the fancy looking plastic cases and colorful instruction manuals... except Black Ops.. worst instruction manual ever.. EVER! Not that it matters, the CoD's have been played the same for what seems like forever.... and FYI, I did not purchase Black Ops. Blockbuster gave me all the guts with the game. So I went ahead and wrote in the 360 manual with a black marker "KILLZONE FOREVER SUCKAS!!"...

well, not really, but now I wish I had... the manual would've had at least one bit of useful info, and if I was really lucky a PS3 convert ;)

I don't mind this being digital - hey Sony should do a GOW collection + POP trilogy bundle.

Better yet, Ubisoft should do a Prince of Persia/Splinter Cell Ultimate Collection. Now THAT is something I'd drop money down for day one!

I would've bought PoP but since the trilogy isn't on disc then i guess they are forcing my hand to pass... i don't have much space on my HD and i really don't like non-physical games... at the end of the day holding onto to something in your hand that you purchased is better than seeing it on-screen...guess thats why i never got into buying stuff on HOME. The same would've applied to the GOW collection.

Well that's good news for you guys... I can't help but wonder why, though, America usually only gets the PSN releases while SCEE provides disc based version of some of the titles as well, such as WipeoutHD, R&C: Quest for Booty, PAIN, and this... Probably something to do with download speeds.

Well, I personally can't wait to see this sitting in store, because you can rest assured I'll be picking it up. One of the series I've been most interested in since getting my PS3, but didn't want to start on the newer entries.
Peace.

It is interesting you mention internet speeds.

My area has the potential to support 200mb broadband, yet what do we get? 2mb.

ISPs suck here in the UK.

Don't look at me mate, if I want a broadband connection it's capped at, I think, 256kbps and a 2GB D/L limit per month... UK might suck, but Australia needs a whole new word...
Peace.

I'd much rather have the games on disc myself. If possible I'd like to import it from the UK. As long as the packaging is in english, as well as the manual and game have the option to play in english, great.

So this isn't going to be on disc in NA, huh? That's too bad I was gonna ask for it for Christmas! O well I may download them, after all they ate 3 of my favorite games!

I really liked all 3, all 3 were very well done, the first brought awesome fighting mechanics and platforming, and that set up for some great things to come out of the series... And the stories in tHem were very good. I thought warrior within wa awesome too. It is my least favorite of the 3, only because I didn't like playing through the same territory time an again, it felt repetitive. Had it not been for that I would have appreciated it that much more! Either way great game, and one of my favorite franchises! I love all the pop games even the new forgotten sands, and the First PoP for this generation consoles.

Exclusively for PS3?
That's rare, Ubisoft giving exclusive to Sony.

If it's a matter of North America recieving it only as a downloadable option then I'm sure the exclusivity on the side of Sony is because the PSN doesn't set file size limits where Xbox Live has a 2gb limit on all files. They wouldn't be able to release it on Live anyways so no returns for them.

I'd buy if they were on disc even though I have my PS2 copies still. No Trophy support? You think they would since all the other rereleases have been.

People are importing the disc version? Must be nice being rich. All that money just lying around for has-been games that are available through PSN.

Me? I'll pass. You just know they'll be asking $20 each and that's too much.

Nope, this collector isn't about to make a flash drive collection

So, if they're too lazy to bring a disc version over to NA, then they've told me outright that they don't want or need my money.

And that's fine with me, I just won't importing it, but I will get it, cheaper, used, & much later on, eBay or somewhere else.
