Fate Of Two Worlds Decided On February 15
If you're a superhero fan and a fighting game enthusiast, there will be no better option in 2011.
According to Joystiq, the highly anticipated Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds will launch in North America on February 15, 2011 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 (it'll be available in Europe three days later). Unsurprisingly, fans will have the option of the Special Edition, which features a steelbook case, a prologue comic, a one-month subscription to Marvel's online comic service and a download voucher. The voucher will net you two new characters: Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath. If you pass on the special edition, you can still nab both characters, but you just have to wait four weeks. You can find the details on that Special Edition at Gamestop.com and we have to admit, $69.99 isn't a bad price for everything you receive. It's not terrible, especially with all these ridiculous $100+ packages on the market. Those things are getting crazy.
If you've been waiting patiently to throw down with all the Marvel and Capcom legends once again, you now have a date, so circle it on the calendar.

Capcom's been on my $#!+list after RE5 and Dead Rising 2. The quality of DR2 was absolutely crap. RE5 vs RE5:Gold. Had I waited for the Gold edition, I wouldn't have had to dish out all that extra cash for the DLC - which should have been included in the game. Hear me out on this one:
They offered DLC for multiplayer mode. I stupidly paid the $5.00 for the new mode. The file size? 380Kb. What this leads me to believe is the game came packaged with the multiplayer mode and the DLC simply enabled it.
Capcom DLC is all crap. Costumes for $2-3? Milking the customer... well not this one anymore.

This is from the ground up rebuilding of the franchise using an engine that only two characters in the game have been rendered on before (Chris and Wesker; and now Jill, I suppose, so three). The game was announced earlier this year with an intended release date of Spring, next year. A year -- or a little less -- is not that long of time to build a fighting game with 52 plus characters from scratch.
As for the DLC, as far as I can tell from following the development of the title since the announcement, Jill and Shuma weren't intended to be in the game at all. The announcement of them being DLC could simply mean that the devteam doesn't have the time to finish them before the disc goes gold. It could mean a lot of things. Why does everyone instantly jump at the "OMG CAPCOM IS RIPPING US OFF!" conclusion from the beginning?

More-so than any of it's predecessors.
It brought on full 3 vs 3 play, a simplified 4-button attack system, and even more insanely crazy full life bar combos. And with it, insane balancing issues that staved off certain fighting gamer types--myself included.
I liked XvsSF when it first hit the arcades, it was interesting and different. But after the two consecutive follow-ups, MvsSF and MvsC, and the whole genre push towards tag team play--Tekken, DOA--I grew concerned that too much of the genre was leaning towards the button sequence tapping combos as a measure of one's skill.
I don't mind some good juggles etc, but the emphasis was just so heavy. I think Tekken 6 goes a little too nuts with this as well.. and TTT2 was exactly news I was really excited to read.
I'm thinking this new MvsC is more of a reboot than a direct sequel. Gone is the CPS-2/Naomi chipset and now something totally new. New animations, new everything.
Though, I'm not too eager about this one as I'd prefer to see something like the most recent arcade iteration of VF5 come PS3-side complete with online play. Or even a new DOA.

i used to bring my ps2 in high school amd we'll have a group of people playing. all we needed was mvc 1 and 2, dragonball gt final bout, and dragonball ultimate battle 22. thats how fighting games should be played. at least thats my opinion most likely because i was so jaded with soul calibur 4. i mean if you're releasing a reflex dependent game, there shouldnt be any lag at all.
