Gran Turismo 5 Pre-Order Incentives
Now that Gran Turismo 5 is definitely coming next week, have you dropped your deposit yet?
If not, you have your choice of pre-order incentives from various retailers near you. It seems like GamerDeals has the big ones covered: Amazon will throw you a free $10 video game credit and the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Stealth Model Car, which is very sweet. You can save a few bucks by getting it at Buy.com, where you can purchase GT5 for $54.99 (free shipping) and while GameStop has no more Collectors Editions available, you can still get two exclusive cars if you pre-order; the McLaren F1 Stealth and the Joey Logano NASCAR vehicle. K-Mart gives you a $25 gaming coupon, and Wal-Mart has yet another different bonus car; the Honda NSX GT500 Stealth Model Car. Which one appeals to you? Of course, the game itself remains the biggest appeal, as hardcore racing fans the world over will finally get the game they've been waiting on for years. Have you been patient?
It's too bad about the lack of Collectors Editions but hey, the true fans pre-ordered long ago, right?

I'm not a day after Thanksgiving freak shopper. I've worked retail where I observed 5,000 years of human evolution de-evolve into our lesser more hominid-like ancestors--figuratively speaking. I'm not a fan of Darwinism as I do believe in God and Jesus =)

Sorry for you who lucked out on the collector's edition. I'm getting mine on day one from amazon.
I'm also getting the SLS AMG stealth car with my collector's edition. I preordered mine back on July 24th, I would of preordered it a long time ago, but I was short on money.
GT5 is selling very well, good luck with getting a copy for you who are not preordering, expecting to walk in to a store and pick one up. I really hope you can do that, I hope Sony and PD has millions of copy's on store shelf's on launch. I hope no body goes home with out a copy.
I got a Shelby Cobra for one of my DLC(all five cars have Chrome paint, performance package/tuned)!
see you all on the track:D
GT5(GOTY) countdown: 6 days 1 hour!!!

I must admit, thus far the Dirt series may have a better damage modeling engine than GT5. I am not going to be blinded by this title. It should have those things in there as standard. The EGO engine for Dirt3 looks even better thank Dirt2.
I really hope GT5 is everything it was promised to be... gulp!
Unless I am expecting too much!
Q!

Oh, and incidentally, I put up my part 2 of my Need for Speed Hot Pursuit review now that I have the actual game and not just a demo. It's in the User reviews section.

no scratch that, i can not believe it does not have most racing wheels support!
WTF?
whats the point of making a racing game and not supporting a racing wheel?
i dunno whats wrong with this game, but all the cars feel so sluggish and heavy.
theres a massive delay between turning the analogue stick and the car turning.
feels like im driving freaking tanks, not cars.
i was expecting this to feel like burnout paradise, but it does not, it feels like, well nothing ive ever played before.

remember it's an arcade racer with car to car combat (of sorts) so the driving physics are not going to be terribly real, they can't be. You can't drive a car at 150+ MPH and slam into another car without fatal results for all concerned. If you don't like arcade racers that feel and play like arcade racers, then you probably need to wait another week for GT5. If you're after the arcade racer fun, then it might be an idea to worry less about the unreality of it, and more about the fun.

i thought this would control the same as burnout, but its totally different!
the cars feel so heavy, you have to hold the stick for a few moments before the car starts turning.
you see a corner coming up, so you start turning and you go from the inside of the corner to just before the wall on the outside before the car starts turning.
i keep slamming into the wall because i ask the wheels to turn and instead of turning i get put onto a waiting list!
the cars feel so heavy, they under steer so much its not funny!
even the muscle cars, they dont under steer, they over steer!
you smash the accelerator mid bend in a muscle car and your going to spin, but in this the car just under steers.
i dont want this to be a sim, i would hate it as a sim, i want it to control and feel like burnout paradise which it could not be further from!
i think they did it like this to try and force people to drift around every single corner, but that does not work either, again because of the lag.
the game tells you, to drift come off the gas than slam it on.
so you anticipate a corner, you turn in a little early, come off the gas than back on and the car under steers, than just before you slam into the outside wall the back steps out.
your constantly waiting for everything, the back should come out as soon as i stamp on the gas not 4.2 seconds later!
if they fixed the controls, and added G27 support i would freaking love this game!
id give it a 10/10.
but like this, i can only give it a 4.
even on the PC version, that has wheel support if you drive on a straight and do a full rotation it takes a few moments for the car to steer.
if i turn the wheel the car should turn immediately, but it does not, every time i ask the wheels to turn i get put onto that darned waiting list!!!!!

Just slightly disappointed that the US Collector's Edition comes with a Nissan GTR model.
I could have opted for the Asian Collector's Edition which comes with a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG but the Apex manual is in chinese so...........
