Portal 2 Pushed Back A Few Months

Well, this is okay. January and February are too jam-packed, anyway.

It was initially revealed that Valve Software's highly anticipated sequel, Portal 2, would release on February 9 but now, the developer has revealed that we have to wait a couple more months. The game is now scheduled to arrive during the week of April 18 (April 20 in North America and Australia; April 22 in Europe); it's the second reported delay as the title was actually first expected out for this holiday season. But not afraid to poke a little fun at themselves, the designers said this delay is the "shortest in Valve history." Ha. This sequel follows up on the events of the first game, and will boast a single-player campaign that is supposedly twice as long as that of the original. The big focus is on the new multiplayer co-op mode, though, and it'll actually tell a "parallel story" and last just about as long. So in order to get the most out of the adventure, you kinda have to do both.

But like we said, with Killzone 3 hitting in late February and other big titles slated for the first quarter, we can live with this delay.

Sad news, but there are a crap ton of other games early next year so its not a huge deal.

Oh, I can definitely see the great pun in what Valve just told us...

"Portal 2 gets a 2 month Portal 2"

Valve=delay. Not that I care.

What are January and February jam packed with? Killzone 3 is a lock, but I'm not aware of any others.

Dead Space 2, LBP2 and MVC3... And I think that those four are enough to last the first two months. Well, I won't be getting MVC, but the others are must haves.

Dead Space 2 is a must have for me, but I suppose I can wait a bit to get it.

Don't forget Bulletstorm too, that game looks awesome and I'm already sold.

Then there's the new Ace Combat.
I'd say February is pretty much loaded.

good news for them as its gives them a little extra time to polish. I really wanna see how steams works is going to be intergrated into PSN. I mean i was interested in Portal 2 anyway cause the first one was great but Valve have piqued my interest further with intergrated PSN/Steamworks connectivity.

Bagh, good for them. I like to look at delays as an opportunity for further polish. I'd rather devs take their time and make their game shine than rush out a buggy product like Craptivision. *cough*BlackOps*cough*

Problem is, COD BO is the biggest seller of all time ( for one week).

It's not going away.

Game looks good, might have to depend on the review score to be interested in this.

And good thing it's delayed though, cause I already have 3 games to buy in February.

Can Ben or anyone else confirm whether it'll be split screen co-op aswell? I think this'll be amazing to play sat next to a buddy.

@ LotusFlower,

I am almost certain it will have split-screen as well, either way its co-op is some respects. Honestly this is sad news but I am going to need more time for big games releasing in that time zone.

That's enough hope for me.

We need more old school co-op back. Too much online ain't healthy!

It's been confirmed already that players will be able to enter split screen temporarily to coordinate actions but the game will not be played in split screen the whole way.
