PSXE Poll Update: GT5 Faces Little Competition
We did expect the result but we didn't realize it would be such a blowout. Eh, maybe we should've known: no racing game, even if it's as entertaining as Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, can survive in the expansive shadow of Gran Turismo 5.
In our recent poll, we asked you if you'd prefer to have either the new NFS or GT5 (or both/neither) and although we gave you that attractive "both" option, it seems PSXE - along with a great many other PlayStation 3 owners around the world - is just crazy about Polyphony's impending title. Scheduled to release this week on the 24th, GT5 is the game many have been waiting on since the system arrived; it launched in North America almost exactly 4 years ago. The press and gamers everywhere are just chomping at the bit; a couple weeks ago, it was all about Call of Duty: Black Ops and now, most headlines include the words "Gran Turismo." In some ways, it's a little surprising. It's as if the entire planet suddenly wants to become a professional racer; GT is always about hardcore simulation so it'll undoubtedly scare many away with its realism and authenticity. But hey, maybe we shouldn't complain about the rampant popularity.
This week, given the latest response, we just gotta know: what percentage of PSXE readers will own GT5? Perhaps it'll give us an admittedly vague indication of the overall sales potential of the game... Despite what might be a steep learning curve for many, it seems a lot of people really, really want it. So, do you?

And it should probably get some sort of entry into those horribly picked Spike TV VGA's.

After the 24th there will be no racing game that can compare to GT5.
This brings me back to the days when GT3 was going to be released (that was a BIG release for Sony)
Let's see if American/UK gamers truly appreciate quality.

In fact I think the experience is much more fulfilling when you can master the game offline. Then go out online if you want after you have finished the whole game.
Though I'm sure there will be beginner events/rooms online so that's another option.

With that said, GT5 will be at my door step after work on Wednesday (hopefully an early closing is in store for us) and I will play the heck out of it this coming weekend for sure. Maybe pop in NFS when I struggle or want a break from THE racing sim.

The tracks in GT5 will eat up so much of my time already, but just saying that's on my Wish list DLC, most wants, for any game.

I've said it before, and that is a brilliant idea. Imagine if Polyphony were to license the GT5 physics engine to R* for the next Midnight Club. That would result in a rather epic nerdgasm from me. The idea of a full-fledged racing simulator in an open-world environment is awesome. Of course, it would be harder than Demon's Souls, but that's just necessary.
Peace.

Anywho, Gt5 is a day one purchase for me. I have Wednesday off so i'm going to pick up my collector's edition after i get some stuff done around the house. While i'm out i need to pick up wiper blades so i'll replace those and eat lunch while it installs. Then all afternoon is just me in my sweat pants in front of my tv.
