Castlevania Ships A Million In The US And Europe
It certainly turned out well for fans of the series, and many consider it to be the first great 3D installment in the esteemed franchise.
And now, Konami has announced that Mercury Steam's Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has shipped 1 million copies in the US and Europe. Developed with the help of Kojima Productions, the game has proven popular thanks to "rich storytelling, innovative gameplay, intricate graphics, and iconic voice acting by some of the world's most recognizable voice talents including Patrick Stewart, Robert Carlyle, Natasha McElhone and Jason Isaacs. The game will be released in Japan next month, and we'd expect it to be popular in that region. Said Shinji Hirano, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.:
"Castlevania has truly reinvented itself with its move to next gen platforms and we're extremely pleased at the positive response we've seen toward Castlevania: Lords of Shadow globally, mainly due to the dedicated fans who have supported the series for so long. The remarkable sales achieved in such a short time are a true testament of the work and dedication that went into this project, and we're very grateful to have partnered with such fine talent in the rebirth of one of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.'s most successful franchises."
When Gabriel Belmont's beloved wife is murdered by the evil forces of darkness, the hero seeks revenge and in the process, discovers what awaits the world if he doesn't succeed. Only the God Mask can purify the land and Gabriel's quest to obtain it is loaded with all sorts of threats and perils...but of course, that's what makes it fun. Maybe once it's out in Japan for a while, we can get some actual sales numbers from Konami.

Like I'm sure Heavenly Sword 2 would beat Castlevania, Ninja Theory just didn't did the right thing, still good luck with Devil may Cry Bizarro.

so what the bloomin hell were they playing!?
when you have crap like BO selling in 1 day what these have in over a month, thats when you know your in serious trouble!
tis what i cant understand about the industry these days, crap sells well and gold sells poorly!
WTF?
i thought we were suppose to reward developers for creating good games, not crap ones!
in that case everyone go out right now and go buy rouge warrior.......... if you can find it!

IMO this is the better game, combat system and story is far superior but there both fantastic games.
remember this is shipped numbers, so thats not sold numbers thats how many konami has sent to stores.
last time i checked enslaved was around the 850K mark, which is more or less what this would be at give or take a small margin.
i thought at least this would be selling 2M easily, i mean it is a established series.
allot of people are fans of the series so i am shocked to see it fail so miserably.

If past and current media create trends is any indicator, I expect very weak sales given the fact the japanese game industry have greatly contracted. To put it striaght, I expect it sell in the area of what Vanqished sold.
