BioWare: There Are Just Too Many Games Coming Out
How many times have you said to yourself, "damn, too many games, too little money (and/or time)"? Well, take heart, because BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka agrees with you.
In speaking to Develop, the BioWare chief spoke a bit about what he finds disappointing in the video game industry today. And you know, it's extra interesting because we usually forget that game designers have to be well aware of the competing products, so they often have to play a lot of different titles themselves. Said Muzyka:
"There's too many games released. It's interesting, because it's very, very busy, it makes it very hard as a player to keep up. The releases clump up - even though that is changing a little bit.
For us, we have to play our games, play competitor's games, play other relevant games, and play the handful of games we just really want to play more of and finish. I try and play two-or three hours a night, but that's hard and it's not enough."
Muzyka did mention that his all-time favorite game might be the original System Shock and in fact, the team actually utilizes a fan website with patches so the aging title will continue to work on their laptops. But it's certainly cool to hear a developer side with the frustrated gamers who just can't seem to keep up. Of course, it's a matter of time; the holidays are always jam-packed but be wary of the first quarter...it's turning into a logjam, too.

Erasethe word "food" & replace it with "game" and that fits me to a tee, I'd rather buy a game & starve..
Best of both worlds would be if the game case came wrapped in a germ-free tasty edible cover that would fill you up until you've bought the next game.
MMMMM, just make mine a rich "low-cal" upside-down Pineapple cheesecake smothered in sweet Almond sauce, please!

Ben, this kind of goes to your old question about if hardcore gaming leaves with age. It's more like there are just a lot more fantastic games with each generation so you want to experience them all so farting around in one game for a month isn't as feasible. Back in the day the greater percentage of games were crap.
But if BioWare is playing other games I hope it tells them that they have to hammer out their Dragon Age style frame rate issues.
I haven't played System Shock, but I'm officially in love with the BioShock series Mr. Bubbles.

Even worse when you take a backlog of games you still have yet to play/beat.
I hope to collect most of the ps2 games I missed in the era before they completely run out of copies.
Now I wonder, is it better to have more good games coming out or just a few great ones per year? I know the obvious choice is more but still

But if I had the time I would buy and play Castlevania, Enslaved, Need for Speed and even WRC Rally.
Choices choices all those choices.
Maybe some game companies should merge and in stead of separate making 2 or 3 similar games, bundle forces and make 1 really really good game.
