Jaffe: Here, You Need A PS3 To Play Twisted Metal

Just as a reminder, Twisted Metal will only be available on the PlayStation 3. It's another in a long line of top-notch exclusives; i.e., reasons to own Sony's machine.

But David Jaffe and Eat Sleep Play are aware that some people don't yet own a PS3. So, to remedy the situation - at least in regards to one lucky gamer - they've decided to hand out a PS3...no joke. After a fan asked Jaffe if the new TM iteration would arrive on the 360 (and we all know the answer to that), Jaffe decided to get into the spirit of giving. Thanks to Eat Sleep Play and Sony Santa Monica, Jaffe has arranged for the fan to get a free PS3; you can check out all the ongoing details at the legendary developer's Twitter page. So basically, someone asked if a certain game would be coming to their console, they received an answer they probably didn't want to hear, and the designer gave that person the console they needed. How freakin' sweet is that? Maybe this could be the start of a new trend. Maybe more developers should take the proactive approach and supply hard-up gamers with the necessary system, thereby decreasing the level of whining and fanboy idiocy. Talk about an act of charity that's good for the whole...

But don't expect Jaffe and Co. to do this more than once. I'm sure a lot of people are gonna try, though.

I bet that kid will prolly get twisted metal, beat it, and never use his PS3 again... I mean, I don't see why anyone shouldn't have PS3 by now... that's where all the AAA exclusives are at... So if that kid didn't have a PS3 already, it's most likely because he's 360 fanatic... Unless he's like 10 in which case he's excused because he wouldn't have money to get both systems although i'm assuming he's older

Yeah but you know it might also be because the guy didn't have an extra 300$ to fork for an extra console. Plus when you already have a system you are generally less inclined to buy another one since you constantly tell yourself... I already have that... Do I really need that? I'll miss a few titles but mine does a good job.

So I think what they did is great lol gona give Ps3 devs good karma.

If the kids just snother MS fanboy, then he'll probably sell it as soon as he gets it, just to only buy more 360 FPS's

I know the two 30-something box bots at my work would certainly do that.

What are you smoking!... Twisted Metal has always been a Sony owned franchise and has always been exclusive... So for someone to go and ask if twisted Metal is coming out for Xbox is like saying is Mario or Zelda coming to the PS3

All I read was that it was a "guy" who asked the question, not a "fan". So, how do you know this guy knew it was a PS3 exclusive? Could be he never had a PS console and hadn't heard much of the franchise and when he heard of it in the Q/A session being referenced, he wanted to know if it would be available for the console he had.

Just because Jaffe said "some guy" doesn't make it wrong to assume the "the guy" is a fan of the game or of Jaffe and his work. I'll say it again.

It has been known for many years that Twisted Metal is only on Playstation. The only people who ask if Playstation exclusives will be on Xbox tend to be Xbots who think everything should be on Xbox regardless of the lack of quality. I can't prove 100% that he's a Bot. But I can "make the observation".

I've both sides of the argument, & I'll add my lil 2 cents.

Jawknee I understand where you coming from but SirLoin of Beef(weird name but cool) has a valid point with his argument(not trying to take sides). And yes people know that twisted metal is a long running PlayStation exclusive, but so was the DMC franchise & Final Fantasy franchise and look what happen, they're both multi-platform now, so I don't think that asking Jaffe about whether or not the game is comin to the 360 was a stupid or dumb question maybe he was hoping that Jaffe would do to Twist Metal what Capcom & Square-Enix with they're former long running PS exclusive Franchises.

I mean think bout it this way, If I use to have a PS2 wanted to upgrade but could only afford the an xbox, but also want a PS3 but couldn't afford one then wants wrong with hoping that some of the sequels to to games I loved playing through the PS1 & 2 era's would end up going muli-plat.

Yes, but you can't use that same argument, as Sony wasn't the IP owner of those said games, Sony owns Twisted Metal, the same way Nintendo owns Mario or MS owns Halo. It's going to be theirs forever, unless they go crazy and decide to multiplat them for money and lose the console flagships...ha

There's plenty of videos of people (Usually on launch day) that wait outside a retailer, get their new item (360, Wii, PS3, iPad, etc) and then go outside to smash it to bits right in front of those that are still waiting in line. Why they do this I don't know but these jerks exist.

Wow. Here a guy does something nice and generous around the Holiday season and it gets turned into an xbot preparing to destroy a PS3, OR he will always be haunted by this one act of charity/kindness for the remainder of his professional career. I agree. I read through the questioners tweets (and be warned, he must enjoy butchering the language) and it seems that the kid didn't realize that series was an exclusive. When it looks like he was told it was only for the PS3, he said something like "well, time to get a PS3 then". An hour or so later, based on time stamps, is when it seems Jaffe offered the console to him.

It was very cool for Jaffe to give this kid a machine, especially so close to the holidays and when the economy is still not all that healthy. He seemed genuinely happy to be getting it.

Why is this kid getting flamed? Jealousy? it must be. Being a multi console owner isn't the norm, especially the two consoles that happen to cost the most. I own only one system myself. Maybe he played stupid to play TM, the point is he was given a free ps3 out of sheer generosity.

If you really think about it the boy had to know it was PS3 exclusive. He was probably hoping for some venom on Jaffes part and was surprised with a new system. Good for the dev for not falling for it and good with the boy with his new,awesome,bluray playing system. :)

On another Jaffe/Twitter note, I like some of his other comments, these concerning TM being "on the PS3 only"...

our games in every home in the world...even the ones w/out electricity. F*ck it- we don't care! It's just that we value our relationship

with Sony very, very much. They give us extra time to make the game great, lots of creative and marketing and business support. And we like

the people over there tons; they are like family. Why is it so hard to understand we'd like 2 stay in that kind of working relationship?
