Guerrilla Gives Thanks For Killzone 3 Beta Feedback
The purpose of a beta test is to allow gamers to test the game and provide feedback. ...and boy, the participants in the Killzone 3 beta have most certainly performed their duty.
Developer Guerrilla Games has been absolutely swamped with a huge amount of feedback and suggestions from those who tried the beta, and they're definitely going to listen. We remember it as being one of the most stable, impressive betas we've ever seen but one can always make improvements, yes? Guerrilla is loaded with very ambitious guys, and they're very happy with the results of the test; this is the public message of thanks they recently issued:
"Thank you, because we now have what we need. Actually, we have received so much feedback, suggestions and bugs, that the general discussion part of the forum has served its purpose and has been closed. There is enough info on there to make six Killzone games, not just one. We know what your opinions are; we know what you think should be altered or different altogether. And we know what we need to focus on to make Killzone 3 all it can be when it launches in February 2011!"
The team plans to work on several issues, and they've already said they'll address matchmaking flaws, which we did run into a few times when playing. Also, they intend to fine-tune elements like weapon damage, recoil and range, weapon distribution over careers, career abilities, and those frustrating spawn campers. They still have some time before that late February launch...we just can't imagine what the finished product will be like. It's going to be.....wow.

I know this beta was supposedly greater than a full game (I wasn't in it) but I hate to see when people prejudge an unreleased game entirely on an online beta. It's a privilege... bitches.

I know what you mean, but the difference between playing a beta for the fun of it, and QA/bug-testing jobs where you walk into walls (and other exhilarating use-cases ) for 8 hours a day is approximately the difference between gamer's Heaven and Hell, and for that reason, many of us would pay for the former, but wouldn't do the latter even we were paid to do it.

I could not participate in the beta, but from my experience with Killzone 2, the mulitplayer took too long to get going. Once you get certain abilities, its incredible fun. But getting to that point was a bit of drag. I hope they address it this time around.
