Uncharted 3 VGA Trailer, Launch Date Of November 1, 2011

If you didn't tune into the Spike TV Video Game Awards, you missed a few mind-boggling trailers, and a few release dates.

First up is the incomparable (yeah, I'm prematurely using such a descriptive term; what of it?) Uncharted 3: Drake's Fortune: below you will find the trailer that debuted at the VGAs and in addition to being fall-over-dead gorgeous, we know it has a launch date of November 11, 2011! You can find a few more details at the PlayStation Blog, where we also learn the game will make a big splash on Jimmy Fallon's show on Monday night.

If there's one game that will have our attention throughout 2011, it's this one. When we said it will become the greatest game ever made, we weren't kidding around. For some reason, Naughty Dog seems capable of raising the bar beyond what all other developers are doing. But you never know...maybe it'll be a disappointment. Maybe we'll all be saying, "damn, this is nowhere near as good as the godly Uncharted 2!"

...okay, that seems unlikely. Chances are, Drake and Co. will once again rule the school. Am I the only one who actually gets shivers thinking about the final result...?

UC1: awesome looking water effects
UC2: best looking snow ive ever seen in a game

The way Naughty Dog is going they will be unrivaled when it comes to environmental effects. The only studio that might question their top spot might be GG.

On topic: That looks awesome! If that was all in-engine, I seriously expect it to beat the ever-loving crap out of Among Thieves graphically. But forget graphics, those lines were enough of a hook to get me interested in the story, again. Why... Why do they taunt me by teasing me with such an unappetising morsel now when the game is still so far away? *Breaks down and cries for a while.*

OH! I just remembered. This trailer relieves my earlier worries about the appearance of Nate. It must have simply been the angle that the screenshots were taken from or something, because it seems here that he looks the same as he always did. Whew, thankful for that.

If that was actual in-game footage then that is frightening. Just when you think console visuals have reached it's peak performance on PS3, Naughty Dog rapes your claims & raises the benchmark even further. They must slaughter the PS3's cell.

Scary thing is this is early footage so it's only going to get better from here. My only worry is Chloe, please bring back the Aussie crumpet.

This and ME3 for Xmas next year? You're having a laugh if 2011 isn't going to be the best year for this gen of consoles.

It's no way that was true, ingame footage (as some claim around here), it was *obviously* a cutscene. However there's not a shadow of doubt that this game will be candy for the eyes.

Naughty Dog stated on their twitter that the trailer was all in-game engine. So yes those graphics are and will be the best on a console.

Ingame *engine* yes of course, the engine that created the animated sequence. But that's *not* the same as ingame footage.

Geez, guys. Why are you all so jumpy? Do you take every single word that not unconditionally praise thee holy console as deep, personal insults?
To push a 3D rendered image live and to render a scripted sequence are two so entirely different jobs from a technical point of view that it makes totally sense to differenciate between them. And you don't have to be a computer viz to understand that:
Use your common logic, for crying out loud. If there was no difference then why are there such things as "cutscenes" in the first place. Why not just blend all those awsome scenes into the actual gameplay?

Thaats right... Because, oh blimey, there must be a difference in there somehow.
So go shove those thumbs of yours somewhere they belong.

It really took you that long and that many edits to type all that Beamboom? You know full well there is a difference. Stop arguing semantics. The fact of the matter is the cut scenes use in game assets and NOT prerendered cut scenes made with Maya we are used to seeing. There is a HUGE difference and you now it. Don't get butt hurt because you got called out once again.

@Alexander, i never said they weren't ok to play. its known Beamboom likes to talk down PS3 exclusives while talking up multiplats. Most tend to be halfassed and mediocre in comparison. I mean c'mon, this is the guy who said Uncharted 2 wasn't that great.

I don't wish to get into the debate about in-game vs. cutscene stuff, but I do want to say that you can hardly say this site is full of people who praise things for no reason or get upset because most people don't agree with your distaste for a title that has clear and extremely high critical acclaim.

I don't particularly care for the God of War games, but I would never and have never said they aren't that good.

Now, I for one, think your grammar et. al. is fantastic for English being your second language. However, maybe it would be fair to consider that it is possible to not really care for a title that is top quality. For example, I don't like God of War, but I fully admit it has immense production values and has tremendous redeeming qualities.

Perhaps you could say the same for Uncharted 2. Obviously, yes, the majority of people have recognized that it is top quality. Perhaps it would be easier to acknowledge your opinions of dislike if you were also able to recognize what it does well. Is that unfair?

Oh thank you Underdog, for your reply. Thank you for voicing the fact that it *is* possible to dislike a highly acclaimed release. Og and by the way, I share your opinion about god of war too, I've just never dared admit it until now. In general, if a game becomes too much of a "railway experience", I automatically fall off, no matter how impressive the visuals are (as is the case on both these mentioned titles). And this is all I have said about U2, that it was too linear for my taste. Really, that's all.
And for that I meet hostility by certain members of this community no matter what I say. Cause I *did* say that "there's not a shadow of doubt that this game will be candy for the eyes", but that's not noticed at all.

Of course a game scoring 85+ on gamerankings is a quality release. That goes without saying in my book, it's just too obvious. And for those who do not mind "following the dotted line" Uncharted is clearly one of the best titles out there. But what's the reason of me saying that, it's been said a million times already.

Regarding this site being full of people praising for no reason, I do think that there is an unbalance towards the exclusive titles. I just think so. For example, is *really* Killzone better than *any* other fps out there? That's been claimed in the comment field of almost every article covering a fps. Now, I own killzone as well as others and really, it's not in a league of it's own, objectively speaking. It just is not. I like it because I like sci-fi settings in my games, but this game is "just another good fps". If you claim it to be anything more than that then I think, and this is just my opinion, that there are people praising it for no reason.

And if you add to this the slander of a release like modern warfare, who judging from the comments on this site is the worst pile of junk ever produced by man, then it is hard to argue against this site being rather heavily biased towards exclusive releases.

Seeing the exclusive release of the Uncharted 3 trailer while watching the VGAs was awesome. It why I even tuned into the lackluster show. Awesome anticipation, awesome delivery. Well done Sony/Playstation.

Now lets pack 2011 with the absolute must haves, the price drops, more 3D titles, AAA Move titles, and better marketing and Playstation's set to put the competition to rest!

So true! Actually, for this xbot I picked up a PS3 about three months ago. Uncharted 2 and LBP plus Blu Ray made it a no brainer for me. It was time. Then I picked up Resistance FoM, Batman AA, MoH, CoD: BO, NHL 11, Madden 11 & LEGO HP. And I bought the Move version with the giant hard drive. I know that's a lot of multiple plats - point is the PS3 sparked my interest in gaming again. The Xbox has become kind of stale - especially with exclusives. I mean, I dig Gears and Halo, but not much there beyond that, IMO. Plus I love the DS3 controller. Very comfy!

It's clear MS has no real plan for 2011 or 2012. They are losing ground to Sony daily and with only Forza 4 and Gears of War 3 coming out next year, Sony has them beat on all fronts. Though I really don't understand the need to continue to buy Xbox after Xbox here in the states. Seems the Kinect bundles are selling faster than the Move bundles. So I guess Sony has them beat on most fronts.

Not gunna lie, Mass Effect 3's trailer had better graphics than Uncharted 3's. I had a hard time telling if it was real or not. I'm positive U3's graphics will be better in game though.

Mass Effect 3 was a prerendered cut scene. Uncharted 3 uses the in game graphics engine for it's cutscene just like God of War III, so no Mass Effect 3 doesn't look better.

Yea i just watched it again, its a freakin pre-rendered cut scene much like Square does for their Final Fantasys and just like that new Batman trailer. Its NOT ingame footage. Mass Effect 3 will use Unreal 3 and we already know its not capable of better graphics than Naughty Dog's Uncharted engine. Uncharted 3 will have better in game graphics. Guaranteed.

Also, i miss read the last part of your comment, so i apologize. we agree Uncharted 3 will have better graphics in game but you saying Mass Effect 3 had better graphics in the trailers is a non sequiture since the Uncharted 3 trailer uses in game assets and the Mass Effect 3 trailer is all pre-rendered. Probably made with Maya.

What in the world did I just see? Oh I know, sheer EPICNESS. Makes me wish that ND could do an Indy game *sigh*.

But really I'm making a budget now for all the exclusives that are coming out for the PS3. This is insane.

Utter awesomeness. So beautiful. Btw did anyone else notice that the gun he pulled off the dead guy was an ak-74. Looks like ND is switching up some of the weapons which is awesome.

By the way love how Crash is giving them the two thumbs up! Wish they'd make a Crash game in between the Uncharted games...

Yes, it was was and it is called the AK-74. My point is that they are adding more weapons to the game instead and having the same as 1 and 2

Amazing, a full year away and it already looks better than 99% of action/adventure games out there.

But eff the graphics, Nathan Drake is the man!

Wonder who will be next year's babe :D (haha I love that line in UC2)

I bought Among Thieves when it came out, but only rented Drake's Fortune when i first got my ps3. After seeing this trailer, I think I'm gonna go buy Drake's Fortune right now. Trailer was badass

Naughty Dog= my favorite developers

Square Enix=no so much

As a reaction to this awesome news, I have temporarily put aside Gran Turismo 5, and have started playing Uncharted: Drake's Fortune again - this time on crushing difficulty.

And hell yes, its crushing alrite!

Once I'm done with that, I'll try to "crush" Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

How the hell am I supposed to have the time and money to play Uncharted 3, Elder scrolls V, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, Portal 2, Killzone 3, Little Big Planet 2, Resistance 3, Ratchet and Clank One for all, The Last Guardian, Twisted Metal, Batman Arkham City, Motorstorm, Dragon Age 2, iNFAMOUS 2, ICO collection, MGS:Rising etc. I still haven't even gotten to AC: Brotherhood, Read Dead or Arkham Asylum yet! We'll also probably get Modern warfare 3, another Assassins Creed and maybe Agent/versus13. Plus there are a number of games that I'm not really into that a lot of people like such as Bioshock infinite, Mortal Kombat, DC universe, FF14, Sorcery, Marvel vs Capcom 3, Shift 3 and Dead Space 2. Great problem to have though!

Why? you can get Uncharted 1 for less than $30 now and Uncharted 2 with all the DLC for less than $50. Seems theres no reason to wait until this one releases. You have a year to play catch up.

Among Thieves - $28

At your local Gamestop - I see no reason to wait! I bought AT first, played through 5 chapters and decided the story was too good to NOT know what happened previously. I stopped playing it, bought Drake's Fortune, completed it, and am now about 1/3 the way through AT. I'm glad I did it that way. Trust me - it's worth it.

get UC and UC2 before UC3 comes trust me, not only do ALL of the Uncharted games have awesome graphic but they also have excellent stories. You need to caught up with the rest of the group.

Funny thing is, Ive actually only rented both uncharted games, never purchased them. I guess the reason would be is that I play them for the campaign mainly and hardly ever play multiplayer. But I can fortunately play them frequently even though I dont own them. Thanks to my friend who lives just down the road who I borrow a few games from (and vise-versa). Reckon the only time im actually gonna buy the games is when the 'trilogy edition' is released which will contain all 3 (we know its gonna happen...). Just thought i'd share that lol.

2011 is shaping up as another banner year for PS3 exclusives I can't wait for InFamous 2 and Uncharted 3. Next year contenders for GOTY could be PS3 heavy. I'm so glad I didn't get a 360 back in 2007.

Fallon show kind of sucked. Rather disappointing, imho. The developers weren't really interviewed, and therefore they didn't an opportunity to discuss Uncharted 3's development or uniqueness. And the gameplay portion showed just a typical fighting scene in burning building.

Gameplay shown didn't reveal anything of the spectacle uniqueness of Uncharted's vastness. Yeah, the scene possessed a great Uncharted surprise when the floor dropping away just when you think you're going to escape, but nevertheless the gameplay wouldn't have impressed any non-gamers to start believing this game is something they should check out. Instead it just reinforced the shooting and fighting stereotype of games that so much of the non-gaming public hangs onto.

I think they should have chosen some gameplay which illustrated some of the great comedy dialogue and presented some sense of its characters and popped into an environment of breath-taking Uncharted awesomeness. A dark burning interior of a building with shooting - come on! Kind of typical, really.

Oh well, despite being the first let down I've ever felt from a Naughty Dog presentation, I'm still glad I gave up some of my precious sleep to catch Fallon's show tonight.
