Quick Spike TV Video Game Awards 2010 Wrap-Up

Of course, we had to tell you all about Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception and Resistance 3, but this year's Spike TV VGAs was full of fun stuff.

First up is Mass Effect 3, which showed up as expected. Here's the world premiere trailer straight from the show and if you're a fan of the first two games, you're probably going to adore this entry. The video doesn't clarify intended platforms but at the end of the clip, it says we'll get ME3 for the holiday 2011 season. ...great, another huge title for next Christmas.

Secondly, for all you superhero fans, we caught a glimpse of one of the new villains in Batman: Arkham City: Professor Hugo Strange. The trailer just oozes the slick, professional quality we now expect from Rocksteady; Arkham Asylum was a technical triumph. And this doesn't just look good...it looks downright awesome.

Next, there's the announcement of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which is bound to satisfy the hardcore role-players out there. I was never able to get into this franchise but with such a lack of JRPGs these days, I might have no alternative but to try it. The release date? Oh dear lord...November 11. Better just hibernate towards the end of next year.

Lastly, we'll show you the trailer for Mortal Kombat. We now know that Kratos - the God of War himself - will join the ranks of legendary MK fighters, and we also know it'll support stereoscopic 3D. Woah...fatalities leaping off the screen into your living room! This reboot should be ready go go in April, so make sure your buddies are aware; nothing is more fun than beating on a friend in MK. Well, almost nothing.

These are the highlights but when we update our videos this week, we'll be sure to bring you most every last trailer from the VGAs, and that includes Portal 2, the newly revealed SSX: Deadly Descents, Prototype 2, Insane, Thor and more. Okay, this felt like covering an actual trade show and I didn't expect that. But I can't let it all go until Monday. ;)

so many games next year. there at at least like 10-15 games i want next year. $60 a game that will add up fast. thats like $600-$900 plus tax through out the year easily. i dont know how i will do it. plus games from this year i missed still...

2007 no games. 2011 to many games. its like ps2 all over again. i cant keep up with all the games.

Mass Effect 3 for the holiday season of 2011....Bioware's writers are going to be on their buts 24/7 everyday until 2012 practically, juggling the moral dialogue choices and consequences....both products will be epic, and with The Last Guardian and the Team Ico Collection among others releasing around that time, I'm going to have a hard time choosing what to get....

the VGA was rigged... the only 2 things that were hot were RESISTANCE 3 AND UNCHARTED 3... PERIOD.

Man, those are some godly titles. And I'm kind of wondering what it is Sony will be pulling out of the hat tomorrow, today? My guess is either the officially official revelation of Sly 4, or an entirely new IP, which is what I want more.

A new IP?? I doubt it. But i'm very curious. I even doubt it if that shadow of the colossus type of game is even coming out this year.

Is it just me, or did anyone not notice the big N didn't show up to promote anything? Oh, by the way, did anyone see who won for best graphics game?

I doubt it too, but I'd love to see it. The Last Guardian is supposedly scheduled for a 2011 release, whether it hits or not is a different matter, and God of War III won best graphics. Have fun.

P.S. Besides the 3DS, what does Nintendo have left? I think they're killing off the Wii titles so that their studios can focus on its successor, which will be announced towards the end of next year. Just a thought.

Nintendo usually plays pretty close to the vest when it comes to new consoles. I remember hearing something along the lines that they don't want to be copied or something. I just hope their next console is in HD. Imagine a new Zelda with GOWIII-esque graphics...well I can dream, anyway.

If Nintendo would have stuck with the original name they had for the console (I much rather preferred Revolution over Wii) and if it had powerful graphics like the 360 or PS3, then I would have taken the Wii more seriously.

I dont know what to say... Im mind blown by the amount of greatness shown! I dont know what ima do with myself for the next year! Resistance 3 looks fricken unreal! Uncharted 3 looks as real as anything id see with my own eyes, and well elder scrolls v has day one written all over it. I think elder scrolls 4 took up more of my time than any other game! Played through it with 3 different characters to experience different things n just logged insane amounts of hours in to it! Also kratos is BA!

Sony needs to lock up insomniac. I know they got the ratchet and resistance names on lock but from The looks of it and obviously by the quality product they produce every single game of theirs is worth checking out and does great things!

Cant wait for this time next year! What do we got though just about a month for lbp2 abd not much longer for kz3! Sony is killin it right now! So r the developers! Sheesh!

Hey lawless, ff13 got that game beat, at least in the graphic department. By the way, did you beat the game. Every scene wasn't the over the top CGI. I'm saying that because, with the exception of the hair, it's very difficult to tell the difference.

The airship, grand pulse, the stage where they encounter the dinosaur on a busy street. Have you've seen there weapons at max? I've seen only the girls. The buffers and spells. The bosses and the slick menus. Have you've seen the way Fang seperates her spear like it was numb chucks during the fight scenes?

Well, at least the best looking rpg game to date period on a console.

As far as nintendo goes, Zelda and the 3ds. I really doubt it if they'll try to push a new console during the same year as the 3ds, or announce it at the e3 show.

Yeah, I finished both God of War and FFXIII, and I've got to say that the awards show got it right. The CGI of FFXIII was phenomenal, and the in-game renders were no slouch either, but it didn't have quite the same level of detail as God of War III, and I preferred the art style of the latter as well.

Okay, had to re-adjust my most wanted list of games in 2011. This is just insane now!!!

Uncharted 3, Resistance 3, Last Guardian, Team ICO Collection, Mortal Kombat, Marvel Vs Capcom 3, Infamous 2, LBP 2, Dead Space 2, Twisted Metal, Gears of War 3, Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age 2, Batman Arkham City, Duke Nukem Forever, Portal 2 AND Killzone 3!!!

(pant, pant) Phew! Was gonna buy back a few old games I traded ages ago, like Bayonetta and RDR, but I guess I won't have time for them with all that!!! Holy crap, 2011 is already shaping up to being the greatest year in gaming ever!!! And that's not inlcuding Bioshock Infinite!!!

Seriously?!?!?! We gamers can't keep up!! This is just getting ridiculous!!! Too many great games!!! Not fair!!!

The UC3, Resistance, and Batman trailers were amazing but the best part of the show was Kratos at the end credits where he destroyed his award. "I OWE YOU NOTHING!" Totaly worth ten minutes of DVR fast forward time.

The VGA's were a joke. An excruciatingly painful joke to watch unfold. Dane Cook is just awful. I had to mute everything but the trailers, which didn't disappoint.

Olivia Munn's dress was the best part of the show.

Some great games were showcased but left me feeling a bit demur. Mass Effect 3 looked cool but then a trailer for Halo Reach was shown. For a few seconds I thought it was another trailer for ME3. Same with Prototype 2 and the new (not showcased) Deus Ex game. It takes me a while to distinguish the differences between all of these games set in a dystopian future anymore. I'm thinking of one game and it turns out to be another. I'm far less likely to buy the game when that happens.

Sony's offerings have uniquely differentiating qualities to them. You instantaneously know what game it is.

It looks like the graphics are getting a major overhaul which is a plus and this time around were not playin as Alex Mercer but trying to kill him that should make for one hell of a boss fight. Also I hope they do a better job with story cause the storyline of the last one kinda sucked ass I only played it because runnin around at car speeds on foot destroying tanks and helicopters is fun.

So Elder Scrolls V... probably the best announcement/news for gaming I heard all year.

Uncharted 3 would be but I knew that was coming where ESV I just found out about recently and if they can stick to that release date I'll be so pleased!

I really didn't think that Kirby's Epic yard shoulda been a contender for best graphics, even for a wii game it's good but there's other games that look a lot better than that! Also I was really hyped for resistance 3 but I really didn't like the live action trailer because it was not very creative. Though I think the story sounds pretty decent, as we get to play as cappelli (however you spell it) also the chimera look a lot better then the ones from resistance 2. The ones from there looked wierd as their heads were so big and stupid. These ones look more serious and meneceing and i look forward to how is gunna turn out. I hope they do something like nazi zombies for the chimera like waves and waves of chimera come at you. and you have to run around a part of the city fighting them off or something like that.

Have you played it? The game looks photo realistic at times and the lower 480p res adds to that realism considering all the stages and characters are made out of some form of soft fabric. I think the game is very deserving of the award. One of the best looking Wii games to date. Looks better than some PS3/360 games in comparison.

Just about of them were impressive but the guy hosting in my opinion was kinda wack, & so was the other two guys attempting to tell lame ass jokes. If their were no host and just announcements of the winners and showed the world premiere of the new trailers then as far I'm concerned the show would have been allot better.

The Uncharted 3 trailer DOES INDEED use in game graphics assets. NOT a pre-rendnered cutscene like the Mass Effect 3 and Batman trailers.

I guess you misunderstood me so i'll break it down for you; when i said "Really?" in response to your statement it was to show disappointment in the news of what you you said (the titles of the exclusives we've been waiting to hear about). The statement that followed, "I, and i think everyone else, already knew that", was to say that that wasn't really news here since Myself and most of the others had already been discussing said titles. Next time I'd advise you ask the context of a statement if you do not understand as opposed to spouting off and assuming.

I wasn't aware I'd need to explain such a simple comment. If I were being sarcastic I'd have done the whole </end> sarcasm thing. I'm not a jerk and I wouldn't attempt to shoot anyone down, I think those who follow my posts know that. HMMMMM!!.. well there really isn't that many exclusive fighters for the 360 sort to speak. Virtua Fighter 5, Soul Calbur 4 and tekken 6, all play exactly like the PS3 versions and I've never played Tao Feng or any of the Dead or Alive games if there are any other fighter exclusive to the 360 I've either never heard of it or never played it. Microsoft is too much into they're shooter games to really push for anything other than Halo or Gears.

Are we looking for a 2012 or 2013 release for white knight chronicles? By the way, dont forget about dc universe, yakuza (maybe in 2011), ff13 versus announcement in 2012 if your lucky), Christine maybe, and a few japanese rpg's.

Ahhhh, i thought there was suppose to be a ps3 exclusive or a major announcement today. It's probably an official announcement of a game that they already showed trailers for. Oh well.

I highly doubt there will be live action cut scenes. I am pretty sure they use live action in the trailer for the previous one. They are pretty much doing what Halo did.
I am also curious when this announcement will be announced or if it already had.
