SSX: Deadly Descents: An Experience "Worth The Wait"
You may have caught the teaser trailer when watching the Spike TV Video Game Awards this past weekend and now, EA has made it official with the press release.
Electronic Arts has announced SSX: Deadly Descents, in development at EA Canada for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Apparently, there's actually a wee bit of story in this one; "players will explore the story of a team who seek to be the first to descend the faces of the most treacherous mountain ranges on the planet." Okay, so that doesn't mean there's much of a "story." Whatever. It's SSX! From the Himalayas to Antarctica, we'll tackle the most harrowing hills in the world and the key is to survive...the second key is to "look good doing it." Said EA Sports president Peter Moore:
"An entire genre was born from the original SSX a decade ago, and it’s time to reboot one of the most popular franchises of all-time in an unpredictable and unexpected way. Fans have been begging for this since the launch of this generation of consoles, and we have an experience that will be worth the wait. This franchise has always been about racing, tricks, characters and fun – SSX: Deadly Descents will deliver all of that, and more, on a global scale, with rich online experiences, and with the sense of adventure never before imagined on a snowboard."
This is one sports franchise that definitely needed to return. It was one of the most revered titles in the land when it launched alongside the PS2 back in 2000 and successive iterations were also warmly received. Things sort of tailed off, though, and we haven't heard from SSX in a while...thankfully, it's back. Yay!

I still can't get that out of my head after I watched the premiere trailer.
Sony needs to bring back Cool Boarders.
I still have SSX 1 and SSX 3 so I'm a big fan. The trailer for it though was so bad, I was almost expecting to see guns and tanks.
Hmmm not sure how I feel 'bout this whole "survival" stuff. But if it adds another layer to the challenge then hey why not.
Still that will mean that the game will mostly be dark and grimy...
I loved the colorful snow in SSX1 and 3 :(

Only DSL? Well dang.........
I would've thought that the techie you are, would have already linked up every satellite dish & electrical power grid on Planet Earth, sucking all that inFamous Cole juice out of them, just for your own personal amusement by now.
Hell, I would have even figured that just having your drapes opened, alone would produce enough energy to light up the Western hemisphere.

So many good memories. I was excited when I heard a new SSX game was announced but from the looks of it, the best days of SSX 3 are gone. This new one does sound promising however. I'll give it a shot. Hopefully DJ Atomica won't blather on too much. EA Sports... BIG!

However if EA is behind this SSX and they put in the same formula as what they've done with the Skate series then this one will be a buy for me.
On a side note, if any of you guys are into the whole First Descent/Ascent type films, check out Jeremy Jones "Deeper" amazing Snowboard flick. Another one that has to do more with Climbing then anything is "The Asgard Project" Just in case anyone is interested.

I will hunt down Peter Moore and shove a REAL snowboard down his throat if they dont get this right....who said we wanted a reboot anyways? More of the same for me will do for this series. (Minus the skis this time)
I remember playing SSX3 so long one time I was hallucinating from sleep deprivation...I love me some SSX!
Oh and the VGA intro to this...that one chick....that sex joke was UBER not funny....go kill yourself
