Mass Effect 2 PS3 Uses Same Engine As Mass Effect 3
Well, this is interesting.
Many role-playing fans love Mass Effect and both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners are looking forward to the third installment, set to release next year. PS3 owners will also get ME2, which will arrive on Sony's machine in January complete with a bunch of extra content. But did you realize ME2 is similar to ME3 in a way you might not have expected...? According to a recent BioWare podcast, both ME2 PS3 and ME3 use the same engine:
"We’ve actually created the engine for Mass Effect 3 and use that to make Mass Effect 2 PS3. So we took the content and the story and all the other assets that made up Mass Effect 2 and we put them in the Mass Effect 3 engine. And that‘s what we are actually delivering."
So come January 18, when you're playing ME2 on your PS3, you should know you're playing a game that uses the same engine as ME3, which you'll see at a later date. Well, that's the upside of being forced to wait almost a year for a game, right? And we won't have to wait again; EA has already confirmed the simultaneous multiplatform release of the upcoming entry. Are you one of many who are on the sci-fi bandwagon created by BioWare?
