Knights Contract Signs A Release Date
Namco Bandai had a great offering in Ninja Theory's Enslaved: Odyssey to the West but despite critic recommendations, it only managed to sell a less-than-anticipated 335,000 units.
Perhaps they'll fare better with Knights Contract, which was one of the more impressive titles that debuted at this year's Tokyo Game Show. In development for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the promising action game has now landed an official launch date of February 22. We did a preview of the game immediately after TGS and based on what we've seen, Knights Contract could be a big-time sleeper hit for 2011. You will take on legions of baddies with the immortal executioner, Heinrich, and the capable witch, Gretchen; the latter actually has control over the burly scythe-slashing hero. Described as "stylized and over-the-top action," the game features a ton of bloody, mind-numbing action with co-op bad-assery. Heinrich, who you will use, is invincible but if Gretchen dies, it's all over...sort of a unique twist on the traditional Game Over premise. We have high hopes; those visuals are pretty impressive, at least as far as the CGI is concerned.
Game Republic appears to be on the right track; now they just have to deliver the gameplay quality.

The design of a game is so important to me. If the characters/enemies AND environments don't look great and stylized beautifully then the game's not attractive. It's kinda like how you judge a babe before talking to her.If her hair isn't "well designed" lol and she's wearing a pink top and green jeans then....yeah not that attractive, unless it's Halloween. Excuse the rant.
The scythe looks great, would be cool if it could also be used as a hammer though. It already has flat spiky side which could be used as a hammer. The enemies in this game so far really impress me, reminds me of Nightmare Creatures!!!
