EA Fires Back, Calls Activision's Claim "A PR Play"
It's the industry's soap opera.
After Activision implicated EA in the latest update to the ongoing lawsuit, EA has responded to the new claims. In an e-mail to the LA Times, EA spokesperson Jeff Brown called Activision's recent claim a "PR play:"
"This is a PR play filled with pettiness and deliberate misdirection. Activision wants to hide the fact that they have no credible response to the claim of two artists who were fired and now just want to get paid for their work."
Activision now says EA induced former Infinity Ward bosses Vince Zampella and Jason West to break their contracts and form their own studio...a studio that could make products EA would publish. Activision has been talking about EA and the new Respawn Entertainment leads for some time; it's clear the Call of Duty publisher believes they've been conspired against.
Yes, well...who knows how this is going to end?

I feel some remorse and regret coming from Activision, firing them and watching the talented West and Zampella not only continue their careers elsewhere;but, join a successful gaming company as well.
It's like the last kid to get picked by the team captains in gym class, because he's a geek or "not cool". But then he does exceptionally well in the game, and the one who didnt pick him, wants to be his sponsor after seeing such success smh.
Activision,*sighs*,these two laid down the foundation towards that huge success, and you cut them at the ankles. Though, they still manage to walk. Not only walk, but walk down the road of success, and overcoming all obstacles in their way.

Seriously, if Killzone 3 or Resistence 3 or Battlefield 3 had 4 player split screen and online multiplayer like COD or Halo, or Motorstorm Apocalypse or Modnation Racers, I would ditch COD and Activision so fast it'd make their head spin. Would love a 4 player Killzone 3 deathmatch with friends all on the same couch.
If West and Zampella wanted to leave or Activision wanted to fire them, then Activision are simply being giant corporate douchebags for sueing. They shot themselves in the foot and are sueing the makers of the gun, simple as that.
I hope this will be the end of COD titles, and hammer the final nail in COD popularity. Only reason I buy COD games is to play with friends, cos it's ALL they play. Bad Company 2 was by far the better game.
Unfortunately, this may not happen because Call of Duty has become the Coca Cola of video games, which means it's here to stay. And I don't like soft drinks!!!

It is obvious once success enters some peoples lives, then money comes into play. And once money comes into play, greed manifests. And with those two combined, the art itself becomes diluted.
Thus, the call of duty franchise will indeed suffer with the loss of 'pella and west. I hope these two guys do exceptionally well at EA and show gamers that integrity and hard work does pay off. And that you can enjoy and create great art, without becoming jaded by money, greed, and most definitely, jealousy.

They are over saturating the market because of their greed. I could care less about all of their accolades.
That franchise to me is like tattoos, everyone is doing it know because it's "cool". I am going against the grain here i know lol. but this is what the world needs more of, everyone can't play the role of a robot.
It is why I admire West's and 'Pella's courageousness and not backing down in the face of adversity.

Once people start to realise this (a year or so from now) COD will lose its momentum and go the way of Guitar Hero, seen as just another cash cow.
Modern Warfare 3 will still sell well, on name alone. All it has to do is have a solid online multiplayer similar to Black Ops but with modern maps and weapons, and hey presto!! Another 1 billion dollars in the pocket of Activision.
Since I got COD4 on PC, MW2 on PS3 and Black Ops on 360, I got all systems covered. Didn't bother with World at War. Not gonna bother with MW3 either. No longer necessary. I got my 4 player split screen party games already for both consoles.

While it's here, anyone else agree COD4 was the best and it should've just been left there?
Same with Guitar Hero World Tour. Last of the great Guitar Hero's.
And Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4, last of the great Tony Hawk's.
If people can see those getting stale, won't be long before they realise COD is just the same.

i kinda like black ops online better than modern warfare 2. none of that damn nuke that everyone camps for and killstreak kills dont count towards the next streak. a lot less broken than mw2, not to mention the hacked lobbies that they dont care about fixing. modern warfare 1 is still better than the two though. i'll pick that, bad company 2, and mag any day.

I know with all of their talent, dedication and focus, the final product will be nothing short of greatness.
And little does Activision know, is that this frivolous "scandal", is only fueling to West's and 'Pella's fire.
This inner fire within them will only spark some genius software in the future. Great Post
