CNN's Top 10 For 2010: Heavy Rain Nabs Top Spot
While nobody in the industry is going to call CNN a top source for hardcore gamers, it's undeniable that a great many people will see their Top 10 list.
Therefore, it's kinda cool that Quantic Dream's masterpiece, Heavy Rain, sits at #1 in the 10 Best Video Games of 2010 lineup. The highly accomplished and singular interactive drama impressed a great many people...especially those with attention spans longer than that of a gnat. It's also interesting to note that Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption - a game we certainly appreciate - came in at #2 and God of War III made an appearance at #8. It isn't a bad list, in truth, as many of the year's best are found there, although you can bet many will find the inclusion of Call of Duty: Black Ops to be your default mainstream selection that doesn't necessarily take reviews and analysis into account. Also, one other thing: FIFA Soccer 11 is #7 and although that may seem strange to a lot of you, from what Arnold tells me, it's deserving of that slot. For consumers who aren't too checked out on the best of the best, it's a fair assembly of quality.
We think Gran Turismo 5 should be on there but most simply aren't qualified to judge that game in the first place, and there's not enough love going 'round for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 or Vanquish, but that's okay. Our awards are coming soon...

I have been playing Red Dead Redemption a lot lately, trying to get through it... the more I play it the more I am enjoying it... It really does ooze quality in every aspect of its digital self. It deserves a high reading...
GoWIII I would have expected to be higher on the list, that position is odd considering its production values and what they managed to squeeze out of the PS3...

I was surprised at how my parents (who hate games) were having great fun racing with their own cars and although I normally skip sims and prefer racers like motorstorm I will definitely purchase GT5
And I'm glad a ps3 exclusive got the top spot

Off topic: It official that PC players have won the battle to be the first to unlock the fifth map in Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam. For those that didn't know, each platform was competing against each other to see who would be the first to do it. The first platform to do 69 million team actions won. PC gamers unlocked it with more than double the console totals combined.

Peace.
Also, can't fault them for the rest of the list. All high quality, and acclaimed games.

I’m a bit surprised to be honest that FIFA 11 was the one sports title that got onto the list. I think NBA 2K11 with the re-introduction of Michael Jordan is a much better play … but I guess that’s just my own personal opinion? … as unimportant as it is.
As for Gran Turismo 5? … I love the game but think it became its own worst enemy with the constant delays!
Great to see also that Rockstar can still make quality games without “Grand Theft” in the title! … very much looking forward to The Agent.

The only issue I have is the complete lack of a certain racing game and the inclusion of a very popular cash cow.
