Grab The GT5 Wheel For Only $89.99
Gran Turismo 5 was co-holder of our illustrious 2010 Game of the Year Award (along with Heavy Rain), and we issued a full editorial explaining that decision.
So if you have yet to try one of the most ambitious, unbelievably in-depth experiences of the generation, we may have tickled your buying bone. Or, if you've been playing it with a standard controller, you heard us say that GT5 simply isn't a driving simulator without a wheel...and you sorta felt guilty. But wheels are expensive, right? And you just dropped a whole lot of cash during the holidays, huh? Well, Buy.com has the answer: you can purchase the Logitech Driving Force GT Wheel (essentially, the official GT5 wheel) for the low low price of $89.99! The wheel usually costs $149.99 in most retail stores but with this big discount and free shipping, you can slash about 40% off the price tag, which means you can experience the new GT the way it was meant to be experienced. Remember, there's no knowing how many they have in stock; when all the wheels are gone, so is this deal.
Polyphony went to all that effort to create the most realistic racing simulator out there. The least you could do is play along. ...no, seriously. Get a wheel.

The wheel does have a minor deadzone in regards to the force feedback. It's generally not notciable.. You really can't go wrong! I personally love the quick tuning controls, especially when something in the setup is just pissing me off!

The Logitech wheel is awesome, but I did feel like an idiot for the first 15 to 20 minutes before I got a handle on things. Now, I don't want to play without it.

Store SKU # 379422. This stand works perfectly and folds completely flat for easy storage... AND its only $29!
As for the wheel I think it is a great deal at this price; just picked up one. The only drawback I can see is that it is not wireless and needs a USB connection which is kind of short (so I also stopped by Frys to pick up a USB extension).
The wheel is improving my lap times and improving my license test medals from bronze to gold by allowing me to partially break and accelerate. Its helped me a ton. enjoy...

But, there always is a but... You have to get used to it.
I always played with a controller and used the little car in front of me. With a wheel, in my opinion, it is stupid to have a little car in front of you. So I had to really learn to drive bumpercamera, it took some time and a lot of frustration because my times were slower then with a controller. Now it is changed, my times with a wheel become much faster.

There is no comparison to playing with a DS3. You can feel every bump in the road. You can instantly tell when your front tires are breaking free and you get that "oh sh!t" feeling when the wheel doesnt resist you at all and you stomp the brakes hoping to get your front tires to grip before you hit the wall.
You can feel the curb gently nudge you back onto the road when you get a little too close.
If you like racing games at all you should buy this. The DFGT works on PC as well, so you can use it with GTR Evolution and whatnot.

I like using the paddle shifters, so i'm always shifting sequential anyway. I can drive stick just fine in real life, and i love it, but paddle shifters are just fun.

Compared to a DS3, it feels that way. Yeah, its not 100% perfect, but with a DS3 you'll never feel a bump yank your wheel while you fight to maintain control. It feels like a completely different game with a good wheel.

I have since tuned a Honda s2000 to perfection, reached level 10 in a matter of hours, and any and all negative opinions of GT5 Prologue using a standard controller, are out the window.
GT5 is amazing. With a wheel.

It is a bit of a challenge setting it up but if you're mildly resourceful you'll be able to figure out a solution to mount the wheel ergonomically. I knocked out the drawers out of a small mdf dresser and locked it to the top, with the pedals underneath, its kind of ugly but it works.

a friend of mine got it a few weeks ago from wireless 1 for 40 bucks!
was over his house the other day and its already broken!
the pedals wont register, the wheel works everything works but when you get in game the pedal wont register.
plus when i used it at the motor show a few months ago the pedals were so soft you could honestly push the pedals down all the way with a feather!
and i thought the G27 pedals did not have enough resistance!
i honestly would not even spend 5 bucks on this POS!
honestly, if you want to get a wheel look around on ebay or other sites, or retail stores for a G25 or G27.
its stupid, some places have the G25 more than the G27 some are the other way around.
but i got my G27 for 340, not bad for a wheel with a RRP of 600 bucks!
seriously, its totally worth the 600!
its not 100 times better than the driving force gt, its not 1000 times better, its 10000 times better!
worth every penny!
spend the money now so you dont have to pay it in a few months time.
better paying 400 or so now and never pay again than pay 90 now and another 90 just to get it fixed every few months!

theres no freaking feel in the pedals what so ever!
a product breaking after a few weeks is more than OK?
wow, you really do have low standards!
no wonder quality of products have gone down the sh*tter as of late.
hell my father still has his toshiba laptop from 20 years ago, both of us bought ourselves new ones a few months ago and have been into repairs a few times already!
not to mention cars, my mother still has a 92 honda civic never had any problems!
my father had a 98 WRX till this year again never had any problems, bought the latest model and for the last week the electronics are playing up.
& this is a Japanese car, the car thats suppose to be bullet proof!

Just because your friend got a bad wheel does not make the product as a whole bad. If you go and read the product review on the wheel then you see that far most customers are very satisfied.

I got my big check today & was out all day on my tri-annual hunting trip buying games & hand-held's at every video store within a 60 mile radius, so I completely forgot about this wheel till I just got back in.
And now they're all out of stock...GRRRR!
Oh well, at least I was able to pick up 58 games to add to my backlog, plus 3 more hand-held systems.
