Rockstar Hints At "Massive Number" Of Red Dead Ideas
Red Dead Redemption was a massive game with massive appeal. Easily one of last year's best, it garnered a huge following and that huge following has only one question: "when are we gonna hear about a sequel?"
Well, after the rip-roaring success of Rockstar's latest epic open-world adventure, it seems very unlikely we wouldn't see another installment. And although they're not talking about it right now (we imagine they're knee-deep in development on Grand Theft Auto V), they do drop a little hint that tells gamers the team is always thinking about new stuff. In speaking to the Official PlayStation Magazine (as cited by CVG), Rockstar VP of product development, Jeronimo Barrera, first says they're quite pleased with how RDR has been received, and that such a reception has proven gamers want a "game about the wild west." Then, when asked if they had any material left after editing and tossing out potentially good ideas, Berrera said:
"For all the games we work on, we have a massive number of ideas that [don't] make it in."
So maybe they could find a place in a sequel...? Although we remain mostly confident that Rockstar will eventually start toiling away on a follow-up to the gripping Western tale we had all been waiting for, no such project has been confirmed. But in the meantime, what ideas do you have for RDR2? What improvements or alterations would you make?

I thought the single player was fun and mostly worth the $60 so I can't complain too much, but I'm not sure I'd buy a sequel. The game got massively boring and repetitive about 3/4ths of the way through. I couldn't wait for it to end.

I'm personally more keen on how GTAV is going to turn out. I wonder if country & desert backdrops are going to be in this time around like San Andreas?
Regardless, RDR2, GTAV? Both should be epic.

I can't wait to see whatever it is they come up with in the way of new characters and story.
Thanks to RDR, I have even higher expectations for the next GTA.

I can wait for a new RDR but I would want to see/have GTA V before that. Even then GTA will need to bring something new to the table..

Although I guess it would be kind of a boring story from a Canadian History point of view....I can just picture the dialogue....
"Freeze, eh? and Drop that Beaver....No, You can keep the Beer and Maple syrup...Okay, Thanks, eh?"

Now, I could be remembering wrong, but I thought it was a cool idea then, and I think it'd be a cool idea now.
That, and a GTA/RDR option for the game to run in real time, with the disc running in sync with your PS3's internal clock and timezone.
Dunno if it'd work, but it'd be kinda neat. For someone like me, anyway.

But wait. The Official Playstation Magazine had Rockstar on the line and didn't ask a single effing question about Agent? What kind of crap is that? They haven't got past the title screen in a year?

It was either that, or get completely side tracked shooting every animal that crossed my path.

If there was a sequel, would you want to play as a new/different character or would you want the Marsten story to continue?
Any new ideas for the story of the sequel?
Plus, what new aspects would you want to see in a sequel?

Upgrade and run the ranch. (micromanage the homestead. Buying horses, selling crops and so forth would be a massive timesink for the hardcore gamer.)
Bigger world (The world of RDR was massive but left no surprises. I want hidden villages. Interaction with the Indians, riverboat rides and fishing spots. Would it not be great to discover a deserted town or village when hunting only to find surprise quests within.)
More weapons. (Bigger guns with mods.) enough said

When I asked if players wanted the Marsten story to continue I was referring to Jack Marsten, John's son, so I didn't spoil it for people who havn't played the game yet.
If you don't know already, the player is able to play as Jack after John dies.

I definitely feel that John's story was finished by the time the end of the game rolled around, and as such there is no need to continue it. At no point did I feel inclined to find out what sort of a life Jack had, so I'd prefer an all new character, and a new setting. Imagine an Old West game set outside the Old West, and instead somewhere like... I'm not good with American geography OR history, so... Connecticut?
Nah... Red Dead Revelations is good.
Peace.

not a spin off or DLC like red dead nightmare, but a whole new game like RDR.
hopefully now they have the engine in place it wont take them 5 bloody years to make it!
just one thing.
please, for the love of god put in some missions that are actually fun!
i really, really want to finish the game so i can see what happens, i hear its got one of the best endings in a game ever!
but i cant force myself to do it because the missions are so god dam boring!
just like GTAIV Oprah is more entertaining than the missions in those games!
taxi driver galore, go pick this guy up take him here, go find this, go find that.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, I think Red Dead is going to be R*'s "serious" series, so I don't expect to see too many off-the-wall missions.
Peace.

its freaking huge!
i just wish R* would stop with these boring as bat sh*t taxi driver missions!
they create the most technology advanced games out there, but my god are they boring!
when a guys saying he would rather watch than play a R* game you know theres something seriously wrong!
thats how boring R* games are!
worse than watching paint dry!!!!

But yeah, the "taxi" missions get on my nerves as well. It's not that I have anything against them per se, but they need to be spread out more with a greater diversity between them.
Peace.

thats why there games cost so much and take so long to develop because every game they do they more or less start from scratch.
yea they have the RAGE engine in place but thats about it!
i cant understand why they dont start reusing worlds, for GTAV use liberty city, for the new RD game use RDR, for the next MC game use LA.
not every sequel has to be set in a different environment.
they would make a much larger profit doing that, and better yet we would have to wait 2 years for the next game instead of 6!
so,so,sooooooooooooo cant wait for agent especially since its a ps3 exclusive!
but its going to be a looooooooooooooong time till we see that!
id be surprised if we see any footage before next years E3, dont forget they still have LA Noire and max payne 3 to show off.
id say LA Noire this september, max payne 3 Q3 next year and agent mid 2012.
than they have GTAV to cram in there, which would probably be the last to release since they have not announced it yet.
well thats what common sense would tell you, but that does not exist at development studios anymore.
