Square-Enix Turns To Players For FFXIV Fix-It Feedback
They overhauled the entire staff. They admitted the game had serious problems. And with Final Fantasy XIV still headed to the PlayStation 3 at some point, Sony fans are hoping Square-Enix can implement some big-time fixes.
Not to mention the legions of MMORPG aficionados who were disappointed when the game bombed out on PC. So, S-E is taking some steps like the one just mentioned, in order to produce a superior version of what remains a potentially fantastic online multiplayer experience. Perhaps surprisingly, the developer's next step is to get gamer feedback: according to Gaming Update, an open letter was mailed to registered FFXIV players, in which Producer/Director Naoki Yoshida asks them to fill out a questionnaire, which is "being issued to give you the players another means by which to have your voices heard." He also says 2010 was a "tumultuous time for us all," where he's probably talking about a combination of things, including Square-Enix's 92% fall in revenue. FFXIV launched with significant technical issues and with the PS3 version slated to release this year (at some point), it seems clear that, at the very least, the team is working hard to make it a game worth playing.
But are you still interested? Do you think the final result on PS3 - with the aid of current player feedback - will be worthy of your money...?

I really can only see the most die hard of FF fans grabbing this due to label alone, the rest will most probably shun the piece of shite, & rightly so.
What a fall from grace. Let's hope they hit the floor soon.

Also, I consider myself a "die hard FF fan" and I won't be getting this game. No time and I'm not into MMO's enough to pay a monthly fee.

Really makes me wonder what happened with this title since they already have FF XI as a blueprint for this game. Oh well.
And while it might be off-topic, I still question S-E's decision of putting a roman numeral on their MMOs. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that "Final Fantasy Online" is a better title for such games.

But I have ALWAYS hated the distribution of brand new numerals for the online games. FFTactics is more deserving of that honor. What's the harm in calling it FFOnline? Really?!

It was enough for me to consider logging onto my first MMORPG, I've always stopped short of paying subscription fees but it looked and sounded good enough for me to consider.

And where the hell is the survey for the rest of the Final Fantasy series like Versus and XV? Somebody took the RPG out of my favorite series and I want it back! Listen to your fans and you won't dip 92% in revenue any more.
Sorry, I'm still very upset at SE for failing so hard on purpose. Hope the bags of MS cash keep them afloat long enough to give us an FF that is old school good.

and beside one of the major setbacks of the recent FF games being going into multi-console support orientation ,just take in mind that supporting one console will get mostly a better final results ,its really easy
Xbox has done one thing only for FF series its pulling the game away from its fans and roots.

I have an account for the game. Still haven't paid a cent of online fees due to the eternal extending of free trials thus far. At least they haven't been forcing people to pay server costs until it's fully fixed.
At any rate, it's almost ALL technical issues. They've already added a couple nice features that ADD to gameplay, like additional story, more notorious monsters, treasures, more armor and weapons, and more quests. I've definitely enjoyed it more than any other 2010 RPG, that's for sure. But in addition to that, a lot of issues have been fixed. Although there are still more.
But like I said, it's ALL technical. The user interface was crap (is getting better)... there's an important team oriented skill that requires timing that was broken that has been fixed, menues have been fixed a LITTLE and will be more fixed, lag times and load priorities have been fixed partially and will continue to become fixed, and the graphical rendering is slated to be more efficient in the future as well.
Really, at first, the technical problems interrupted the experience majorly. But it is definitely getting better.
I've said this before and I'll say it again... at it's core, it's a great RPG game with all the RPG elements we're used to getting from the franchise. It was just extremely hard to play at the start. Not due to difficulty, but due to a poor user interface.
Trust me... this game REALLY has huge potential. It isn't there yet, but it IS DEFINITELY getting there. I have no doubt that for people that like MMO's, this will be an amazing game. For those that hate monthly fees or don't like MMO's, obviously it'll never appeal to you, but to MMO people, I have no doubt it will be worth it when the PS3 version eventually comes. (At the moment, it's delayed indefinitely, by the way)
Since the PS3 release will likely be a good version, think of the current PC version as a BETA and a slap in the face to Windows and Microsoft. :)

And it's not really a slap in the face to Windows and Microsoft. It's more a slap in the face to all of us beta testers that really tried to play it and sent loads of feedback to the developers, only to have it all tossed aside like we didn't know what we were talking about.

It's funny, if it was still in beta then it sounds like the shape it's in would of been accepted just fine. Considering that it's available for purchase, everyone is up in arms about it.
