Analyst: PS3's 2011 Exclusives May Be The Best Ever
One of the PlayStation 3's biggest selling points? The top-notch exclusives, which seem to set a new quality bar every year.
And it only takes one look at 2011 to see that Sony is poised to make another big splash in the exclusive department, and at least one analyst agrees. After God of War III, Heavy Rain and Gran Turismo 5 in 2010, the lineup for the PS3 in 2011 looks somehow even more impressive, and EEDAR analyst Jesse Divnich is one of the first to put a professional voice to what many have already said. In speaking to IndustryGamers, Divnich stated:
"With Killzone 3, Resistance 3, Uncharted 3, and Infamous 2 all set to release in 2011, Sony is on track to deliver one of the most impressive line-ups of exclusive titles in the history of video games."
The article also reminds us that the PS3 is only a few million units behind the Xbox 360 in the worldwide sales tally, and most analysts believe Sony's machine has a good chance of overtaking the 360 - perhaps once and for all - this year. Furthermore, we might even see yet another price cut for the PS3, which has seen the original price tag of $600 slashed in half over the past four years. This, combined with the growing popularity of Blu-Ray, might seal the deal.
But of course, we care most about the games. And boy, there's gonna be a lot of 'em this year.

Insomniac has been producing great games and Id Software are the ones behind DOOM 3.
And the next CoD?
Does it even have a place for Top 5 shooters when Bulletstorm, Crysis 2, KZ3, R3, DNF, Brink and RAGE are in the same year?
Those games are being developed with time and care unlike every CoD.

Anyway, can't wait and somebody guess which one i'm looking foward to most.

Since MS decided to keep most of the hardware guts out of Kinect's original design, the kinect's now putting a heavy burden on those pre-squat machines, making for another hardware fail scenerio.
IMO, it's all because MS would rather take their usual almost-patented "rush it out" & "cheap-a$$ed routes once again.
Plus I wonder if these new failures will also wind burning out the Kinect itself now too somehow.
Guess we'll all be seeing how that all plays out real soon

It would be cool if PS3 finally took the lead but I'm not too worried about it. I do feel kind of bad for folks who cling to their dying system still saying PS3 doesn't have anything worth playing. Poor kids wouldn't know a good exclusive if it bit em.

I don't get how they think it's useless, surround sound is awesome, if it wasn't for Blu-Ray we wouldn't have the massive sized games we have now. I don't use Bluetooth anymore as i used to, i use the Tritton AX720's now, and man it's a beast to play with it's expensive but worth it, it costed me $120 for it.
TheShadow
Thursday, January 06, 2011 @ 11:01:35 AM
my thoughts exactly, I don't have surround in my room but in the living room there's a 5.1 surround on a 50" plasma and it blows my socks off listening at almost full blast on that thing, imagine uncharted 2 with that type of sound, I really don't get why thats useless.
Blootooth is awesome, I have the official ps3 mic and it works great wireless, backround noise cancellation and all.
Blu-ray......... Tell me how this is useless:
- more storage
- less breakable/scratchable
- 50 GB's Duel layered (I believe)
Really this is useless I guess tv's are useless too and dvd players/blu ray players, there all useless, that is what is sounds like, or......everything on ps3 is useless, THATS WHAT IS SOUNDS LIKE.
Really if ps3 is that useless, how useless is the 360.
Ponder that will you.

I totally agree with you, it seems maybe they don't like sound? I don't know if it isn't for sound i don't think we would enjoy a game as much. And don't forget the storage, i would be pretty pissed if the game was very short and nothing good would happen in it, that's why i love Blu-Ray so much, and everything else that Sony has brought into the gaming world and other companies as well.
I'll never understand them, and i don't think i would want to.

This is especially so when looking at x360's dismal exclusive lineup for 2011.
Do many gamers even know what an "exclusive" is, and why they should care?
I have a theory that the majority of gamers just want entertaining games. Games that look cool and look entertaining. Or, as an example, I know a guy, a friend, who's been a xbox gamer for years-since the beginning. He has an unbelievable gamer-score of like 80K
BUt he just isn't interested in getting a PS3. He seems happy and excited to play "hot releases" but doesn't really care if it's exclusive, or not. He brushes off games like GoW3 and Uncharted because he feels he already has a set of games that are entertaining with plenty more coming down the pipeline.
Anyway, as a guy who has always been a multi-platform gamer, I wonder what's going on in the head of the gamers out there, like my friend, who just haven't got into a PS3, yet. It's a phenomenon. Because I just don't see how someone could like a lot of what x360 has, yet, not be interested in the wealth of quality exclusive games the PS3 has.

No they dont. In fact i had someone tell
Me the other day that the xbox360 is still better than the PS3 because it runs COD black ops better, at a higher framerate and resolution. Ok its true it does run better. But apparently he doesnt look at the big picture. I can look at my library and choose numerous mulitplat and obviously most of tge exclusive titles that run better than black ops. I mean he could have atleast picked a game with merit, ya know.
The point im getting at is, hes stuck on an idea that obviously false and a terrible idea tp argue with. I assume their are plenty other people that think the same way. They dont realise that exclusives like Uncharted, or HALO are what push a system. Of course they know about the games possibly even play them. But they dont rationalize how much better most exclusives or why they are important to a system.

Black ops to me was a good game. Yeah it had its flaws and ok it sold billions. But hasnt won many awards, maybe gotten a few nominations. But U2 was a great game, it was almost flawless. Ok it didnt sell billions, but it won many goty awards! And well i think the most important thing is people are calling it one of the greatest games you will ever play! And well thats true!

I'd have to agree with that. I wouldn't put this list up against the exclusives the PS1/PS2, Genesis, NES, and SNES were getting. While I'm excited for Resistance 3, Uncharted 3, and Killzone 3, they aren't what I'm excited for most this year for some reason. Maybe it's the old man in me, but I'm kinda getting bored with shooting stuff. At least there are Disgaea 4, Ar Tonelico 3, and Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll, Journey, LBP2,and Yakuza 4 rounding out the exclusives list, as well. What I'm excited for most this year are El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron and LA Noire.

There are more genres, but I'm sure you catch my drift. It doesn't matter what you're into: 2011 will only do everything.
Although with Sony going gangbusters this year, I'm kind of wondering if they'll be able to follow it up with anything even half as good for next year... Is it almost criminal to be thinking about that at this point in the year?
Peace.

how many times has sony announced a release date for a game than delayed it to a different year?
anyway, i seriously doubt this year will be the best year even IF all those do release this year.
one has to assume next year will be better, as they always are!
i thought we would never get anything better than MGS4, but KZ2 proved that wrong!
i thought we would never get anything better than KZ2 but uncharted 2 proved that wrong!
i tought we would never get anything better than uncharted 2 but heavy rain and GOW3 proved those wrong!
and so on, and so on, so i think its safe to say whatever next year has in store for us will be better than what this year does.
as the ps1 and ps2 showed, the best of the system is never reached till its time to close the curtains.
we did not see the best on the ps2 till the ps3 had been out for a while!
same will go for the ps3, we wont see the best of this system till the ps4 releases.
which i thought wont be for at least another 3 years, but now that CFW is available on the ps3 and its as open as a PC, well, im not so sure!
eh, been a bad week for sony, there off to a fantastic start for the year!
first the ps3 gets blown wide open, and now the PSP GO has finally been hacked!
ahhhhhhhh, what a wonderful start to the year!!!!!

And you wonder why people think of you as a troll or a BS artist???
Do you remember a couple years ago that young 15/16 year lad(I'm not posting his name)that used to lie or boast about all the gaming stuff he had until he was called out by numerous gamers here.
Well, at least at his early age, he realized he didn't have to BS anyone, so he came clean, professed his prior sins here, & asked for forgiveness.
Well, we forgave him, wiped his slate clean, & he became a good addition to the posters here. (BTW, he hasn't been around for a while so I hope all is OK with him).
Anyways, back to the real deal....
unlike Ivory Snow detergent, you, yourself, are not 99 & 9/10 tenths pure.
So, other than that single 1/10th of 1 percent, everything else you've got to say is pure unadulterated bullsh*t and/or hypocritical.
You've sadly enough seem to have forgotten that us posters that have been here at PSXE for awhile now, can still remember all the other BS you used to spew on about.
Like your numerous boasts of how you always buy your games & then bring them back before the week was up just to get all your money back.
And you finally stopped bragging about it "only" because I had the balls to call you out on it every time you did. And even though you're not boasting about it any more(at least in print), don't think that I(or most of us long-timers here) believe that you're not still doing it to this very day.
So exactly who do you think you're BS'ing here????
(FYI, I'm not doing this to brag in my next statement below, but "only" in order to prove my point above)......
My regular weekly paycheck's average around $28US to $30US an hour(+ or-), & I usually buy at least 2 to 15 games a week out of each pay check. Granted some are older titles, but the others are newer titles during price drops, or new titles bought during "Buy 2-Get 1 free" deals(preferably).
Besides that, I also get 3 other checks tri-annually that usually total somewhere around $8,200(+ or -) each year too, and for which I take at least $3K of it out solely to buy games.
Well, I just got one of my big checks for 4,900 this past Tuesday, and after paying off all my bills, I was able to put $1200 aside for gaming.
I wound up hitting all the gaming stores in a 60 mile radius & spent slightly over $1100 so far on 58 games, plus 3 more hand-helds, along with a bunch of accessories to add into my future console collections too).
Now with that said, I "STILL" can't ever buy all the games that you keep claiming to buy yearly, and certainly not those inflated AU prices you keep claiming you've bought them at.
Even your own countrymen who also post at PSXE, keep claiming you are way off on your prices.
Sooooo, I say, unless you've hit a world-wide lottery without the media getting a sniff of it, or your father is a filthy rich Bill gate's type of guy, or you're a million more times stealthier than Willie Sutton ever was(go ahead & Wikipedia it, I'll wait), then once again on every one of your so-called game buying posts....
I call "BULLSH*T"!!!!!
So it's not that amazing either, that why 99.9/10ths of all of your posts tend to wind so incredibly moronic & incorrect.
So MR. Zero credibility...why yes, you are truly a legend...but only in your own mind....
but surly you're own mirror must hate that you've become one.
And I feel a bit of sadness about that.

Let's not forget about the console MMOs that are coming to the PS3 this year:
DC Universe Online
Free Realms
The Agency
Lets also not forget about some very noteworthy downloadable titles:
Pixeljunk Shooter 2
Journey
Threre are also a number of lesser known titles coming to Western shores from the Land of the Rising Sun. Or "Dark Horse" titles if you will.
Yakuza 4 and Disgaea 4 have been mentioned already. But there are also:
Hyperdimension Neptunia
Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll (also known as Trinity: Zill O'll Zero)
Ar Tonelico Qoga: The Knell of Ar Ciel (also known as Ar Tonelico 3)
It's going to be one heck of a year.

Still, though, I plan to definitely make room for some must-play games. Out of the exclusives this year, I'm really only interested in Uncharted 3, ICO/Shadow of the Colossus Collection, The Last Guardian (if it arrives) and maybe Twisted Metal. Sorcery looks kinda cool, too.
On the multi-platform side of things there's Mortal Kombat, Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, Bulletstorm, Batman: Arkham City and Deux Ex: Human Revolution (which I'm still debating on).
Meanwhile, in the downloadable department of things, there's Journey and Beyond Good & Evil HD.
I think that small list will EASILY fill what little gaming time I have for 2011. Doesn't help that I have a huge backlog to catch up on, either. Either way, though, 2011 will be OWNED by the PS3. M$ and Nintendo don't stand a chance.

On the other hand if anime/manga isn't really your cup of tea then so be it.
No shooter pretending to be an RPG? I guess that rules out Mass Effect 2.
And I suppose you could try the PS3 version of Dragon Age 2, assuming that Bioware isn't giving it the same treatment as Mass Effect 2.
And of course there is the upcoming PS3 release of The Witcher 2, which I believe is looking quite promising.

As for Dragon Age i have the 1st one, hated it. Controls like an MMO. The Witcher doesnt look to different in all fairness.
I would get White Knight Chronicles but i have heard bad things about the story and the active time battle looks very slow.
Ressonates of Fate looks ok, but once again looks like it could turn very cheesy. But it looks like my best bet at the moment.

The gameplay in White Knight Chronicles 2 said to be faster and a vast improvement over the original. In terms of story I personally found the first one to be not so bad. For me it didn't really get interesting until roughly the halfway point. And it did have some good moments. I for one was a bit shocked to hear some of the details about the nature and history of the Knights later in the game. Overall I think the story of WKC essentially serves as a foundation for bigger and better things to come.
So if you're not going to pick up the first game you still might want to keep your eyes peeled for a localization of White Knight Chronicles 2. Word is that that game is actually going to come packaged with a copy of the first game that has been updated with the vastly improved gameplay of the sequel.
While it may be true that a localization for the game has not been officially announced there is some reasonably strong evidence pointing to that possibility.
And there is also another title you might want to keep an eye on. It's the joint effort between WKC dev Level 5 and the world famous animation studio: Studio Ghibli. Ni no Kuni. This game has not been officially announced for localization either but I think it's a distinct possibility since Studio Ghibli has many fans in the West. And as far as I can tell Studio Ghibli is one of the few Japanese Animation Studio's to have achieved mainstream popularity in the West.

As for Killzone. One of the criticisms leveled at Killzone 2 was that it didn't do particularly well in terms of story and characters. Nevertheless I still wholeheartedly support the Killzone franchise because I believe it has a tremendous amount of potential. I've read the lengthy storyline of the Killzone universe and it's actually very interesting and could easily spawn a really good game story. It's just a shame that it hasn't really happened yet.
On the other hand the people at Guerilla Games have promised that they are going to do better in terms of story this time around. So there is every reason to believe that Killzone 3 is going to be something memorable.

Killzone 2 was way overhyped. I find that game almost horrible for trying to get the trophies in that game. Like "The Profesional" Trophy is impossible for me to get since I cannot land headshots easily with the games mechanics. The way tthe the character looks around isn't smooth, but slow. Other times my stupid teamates kill all my opportunities to get trophies since the AI is extremely intelligent in that game, too much swearing, action gets out of hand easily, not to mention bogus realism, where a headshot even after the helmets are popped can take several bullets to kill them. KILLZONE IS A GOOD IDEA THAT NEEDS THE BOOST. I Hope they release a demo, of killzone 3 so I can see if they improved on the game or not.

And a extremely minor 1 to 3 second lag every so often as the story would progress, but I'm guessing that maybe it was the on-the-fly saves or passing checkpoints?
Overall, KZ2 was great, & I can't wait to hop-scotch over & about those KZ3 oceanic icebergs

One of them should of come out in 2010, so sony has an exclusive "space/alien" shooter every year and not 2 in the same year.
I'll still buy them both though, love both franchise's
