Killzone 3 CES Trailer Highlights Emphasis On Story
Killzone 3 is only about 6 weeks away but you know what? That's too long of a wait.
The latest trailer from the Consumer Electronics Show has been making waves recently, and you can see it below. We've seen plenty of gameplay over the past year but this is the first serious look at the plot, which features an epic clash between the Helghast and the ISA. You can bet that unlike most FPSs, the story will be a focal point, and that alone is worth applauding. Check it out:
Not bad, right? Guerrilla has talked a lot about the evolving plot and characters, and how they wanted to put the plot front-and-center. Of course, the gameplay should be top-notch, as evidenced by those aforementioned vids and the awesome beta test, but to have such a compelling single-player campaign in a shooter...? Wow, do they still have those? Shooters with, like...writing?

Nice to know that some companies out there still appreciate the single player campaign lovers. CoD and Activision clearly don't care for story, at least not to the same degree as Sony studios. Had no care for the characters or story in Black Ops. CoD is clearly multiplayer only, and it sells. Can't wait for the day the servers shut down, 8 million Call of Duty games selling for 20c each on eBay.
Heavy Rain was the last game that sucked me into the story, incredibly deep. Here's hoping Killzone 3 can do the same. If this trailer is any indication, I say it will... BIG time!!!

If this really is the end of Killzone, at least we know that Guerilla aren't skipping out on anything. I don't like FPSes all that much, but this cannot be missed for the world. In fact, I think it just moved up to a D1P.
Peace.

MW2 or Killzone 2 and guess what......most people went with MW2, du-du-DUM.
Now im not sure if they mean Pc but if not (which would not really be that fair and they were talking consoles) then some people need to go to the doctor ASAP.
KZ3.....best looking game till UC3

im sorry, i just have not seen much improvements over KZ2.
the game is just as corridor shooter as the first one, even though the developers say they have opened it up which contradicts all the videos they have shown.
the story, well its hard to judge that without playing the game.
but, well, KZ1 and 2 were not assassins creed so ill bet this will be the same.
there was not even a story in KZ2, it was just go find this dictator and bring him in.
why?
why are we on this alien planet?
why are we attacking them?
why did we kick them of vetka?
why did they choose helgahn as there new home, why not another planet?
why do they have to wear those masks?
how did they harvest the environments to create those lightning guns?
KZ2 has as well a written story as Tomas the tank engine!

Humans expanded their sphere of influence from Earth, colonising a whole bunch of planets, including Vekta and Helghan.
The difficult living conditions on Helghan causes the people living there to adapt to the living conditions.
For some peculiar reason, the Helghast begin to think that the ISA is not paying them the attention they deserve and launch an assault on Vekta. The leader at this time was Scolar Visari, the dictator to whom you referred.
The ISA forces on Vekta turned them back, but not satisfied with that, and fearing another attack, followed them back to Helghan to end the war and bring Scolar Visari to justice.
The lightning guns were explained in KZ2 to be made from a mineral that conducts electricty. The name of it escapes me at the moment.
As for the masks... they need them to breathe off-world as they've adapted to the air onworld. But that then begs the question of why do the ISA forces not wear masks, which could be explained by the air not being poisonous without prolonged exposure. The helmets onworld are probably more along the lines of war masks.
It may not all be in the games, but if you look outside, you will quickly find a wealth of information released by Guerilla about the timeline.
Peace.

as ive said many times story is EVERYTHING in a game!
tis why i love assassins creed 2 and infamous so much, because they have a fantastic story!
no other game out there has grabbed me and not let me go till i find out everything about it!
story can turn a mediocre game into a fantastic one!
that, and a open level design is all KZ3 really needs.
KZ2 was far too closed, a corridor shooter and thats what made it repetitive which is what made it boring.
allow people to take the battle wherever they want, whenever they want, open it up like what ND did with uncharted 2.
let me take my enemies out from above, behind, left, right, underneath, in front everywhere!
also add some tactics in there, have a few sequences where higs walk buy and if you shoot at them than 50 soldiers come to help.
but if you let them go by, than they group in a small area and you can take them out one by one and instead of having to kill 50 soldiers you only had to kill 5.
KZ is suppose to be a war game, so its suppose to make me feel like 1 im at war and 2 im in a team.
KZ2 did neither of those, i felt like i was a loaner with 1000s of other loaners conveniently there at the same time as me.
they did not feel like a army, a army is suppose to be conjoined and backing up each other.
thats one thing MoH did really well, its actually the only game ive ever played that makes you feel like a soldier!
you actually feel like part of the army, part of your battalion and you actually feel like you can rely on your team mates.
they need to try and make KZ3 feel the same, after all it is a military shooter so it should make you feel like part of a team.
KZ2 lacked soul to me, it just felt so empty.
