Skyrim GI Scans Arrive, Definitely Won't Be A MMORPG
We told you that next month's Game Informer would feature The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and those scans have already hit the Internet.
We've got one of them for you here, and you can see the rest over at GamingEverything; they're well worth a glance. You might spot some new tidbits of information before your greedy eyes fall upon next month's issue. But there's one specific detail that has started to make the rounds amongst RPG fans: it had been rumored in the past that the next Elder Scrolls iteration would be a MMO. The games are pretty darn close to that style of gaming, anyway, and it was believed that fans would actually approve of the shift to an all-online multiplayer venue. However, if you're not one of those people, you'll be happy to know that these scans prove Skyrim is indeed a single-player adventure; it's no MMO. For those who prefer to think of role-playing as a genre best experienced in solitary mode (and I'm one such gamer), this comes as good news. Besides, there are plenty of other options if you desire the massively multiplayer setting.
Be sure to set aside a large chunk of time when the fifth Elder Scrolls drops. Like, maybe a few hundred hours or so.

But really, I think an Elder Scrolls MMO is a good idea, just make sure it isn't a part of the numbered series. With the brilliance of Bethesda at the helm, I really do think that it could take a chunk out of the WoW market.
Peace.

But, that's not to say an Elder Scrolls MMO wouldn't work, it just has to be a separate game and NOT an additional option on an existing game. The damned thing is restricted enough on that DVD anyway.

This may help me to get back into something more RPG-based than in the past. I am missing a good fantasy adventure of sorts... bring it on...

In other games (such as Star Wars Galaxies) the player has to manually tag him/herself as attackable by other players, and this is a setting one can turn off anytime.
In an MMO on the other hand, you would have done that mission of yours along with friends you've come across and liked while playing, helping eachother out and having a laugh while doing so. THAT is the core of what mmorpg is all about.

Honestly I hope it's closer to morrowwind than oblivion. Altho I wouldn't mind it having better combat than both of them.
Honestly tho after bethesda specifically told me they knew about bugs and had no plans to fix them, I'm not buying anything else from them until it's in the bargain bin.
