Eidos Talks "Multi-Path, Multi-Solution" In Human Revolution
Although Deus Ex: Human Revolution won't arrive as soon as planned, we're still looking forward to the promising project.
For more information on the gameplay and overall structure, visit the PlayStation Blog, where Eidos Montreal Level Designer Steven Ciciola talks about their emphasis on the "Multi-Path, Multi-Solution" style. This exists for "practically every challenge" in the game so in other words, regardless of the goal or obstacle, there are always multiple ways to reach the solution. He uses the example of the Police Station level shown at GamesCom, where the player can settle on one of four possible ways to approach the situation: Combat, Hacking, Stealth, and Social. That really sounds a lot like past entries in the series, and we're overjoyed to hear it. And in truth, there are more than 4 ways to go about it; you can mix and match and use a bit of all types, if you so desire. Added Ciciola:
"There are so many different ways to progress through that I couldn’t possibly list them all; and chances are there are even methods to progress through that we haven’t even thought of! While at first glance that seems like a nightmare for a level designer, what ends up happening is our level designs promote multiple playthroughs in order to try out many different styles of play. All we have to ensure is that we’ve provided the tools and the environment for the player to just explore, imagine, and act-out their creative solutions."
We just can't wait to give this one a try. Having so many options in a story-driven adventure is always a plus, and the newest Deus Ex experience really ought to be something special. If you're not familiar with the series, we strongly suggest you give one of them a try...provided you don't mind dated technicals.

I only hope that the folks at Eidos aren't talking out of their a**es when they speak of the variety and diversity present in the gameplay of this.
Peace.

I'm surprised Squeenix hasn't forced them to make it an all action military FPS.

This has pretty much always been the appeal of Deus Ex. It's a sci-fi franchise in first-person view, and it features most all the elements of a RPG.

I bought Deus Ex GOTY Edition from Steam for 5 bucks, still barely touched it. One of my friends tells me its the best story he's played in a shooter, pretty much any video game.
Nice to see developers still thinking of the single player campaign lovers. We still exist and we do love our good stories!

MGS4 does not let you talk to your opponents and try to convince them to give you what you want.
nor does it have all the gadgets you get in this.
MGS is a stealth game thats more or less how you have to play it.
you can go in guns blazing but it makes things o so much harder.
this you can go in guns blazing, stealth fully or try and talk your way out of a shootout.
no game has ever offered that!

If you liked "Invisible Wars", then I's definitely advise you to find the first one, "D.E. The Conspiracy" (for the PS2) since it was considered by most to be the best(on consoles, that is).
Then the original Xbox got the slightly watered down 2nd game, "D.E. Invisible Wars".
Then later on the original Xbox too, they decided to make the 3rd one, as it's own stand-alone game without the D.E. designation, called, "Project Snowblind", which had a Multi-player theme added(it still had the bio-augmentation & most of the same elements that the first 2 game had though). It's also considered by many as the "spiritual successor" to the D.E. series.
Hope that helps ya.

Thanks for that tip.
I never realized that the PS2 also got Project Snowblind because I've never seen that version in all my marathon gaming safari hunts, either in stores or on-line.
But now I WILL definitely be hunting it down now.
Look out eBay, 1/2 price-comm, Amazom, and many more.....here, I come!!!!!
BTW, I wished that they hadn't canceled D.E. Clan wars due to the low sales of "D.E. Invisible Wars", because I would've loved having that game in my library too.

Well actually, the original Clan Wars game was turned into Project Snowblind after they decided to change thing up.
Here's some bits of info on the Clan Wars/Project Snowblind saga from back around 2004 ....
