PlayStation Blog; 20 PS3 Exclusives That Can't Be Missed
Maybe you aren't fully checked out on all the PlayStation 3 exclusives scheduled for 2011. Maybe you'd like a list of the top 20, with brief descriptions for each...you know, so you can get your purchase plans in order.
The PlayStation Blog has posted up a list of 20 PlayStation 3 exclusives for this year, and that includes downloadable titles for the PlayStation Network (Journey tops our PSN "most anticipated" list) and PlayStation Move Heroes (check our new preview). Obviously, big-name games like Killzone 3, inFamous 2, Resistance 3, LittleBigPlanet 2 and Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception are there; these should be gigantic for Sony and the PS3. It's also interesting to see those Ar Tonelico titles, along with the likes of Hyperdimension Neptunia; the JRPG genre on consoles has dropped off significantly this generation, but these experiences should open the eyes of fans of the sub-genre. Lastly, for the more artistic-minded, we can't overlook the ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection and The Last Guardian. You may also notice how many of the upcoming titles support both 3D and Move; Sony is really supporting both technologies. There appears to be something for everyone, doesn't there?
The only loser in this scenario is the wallet. Maybe you'll have to sacrifice getting that new car, or something.

worries me because legitimate consumers could be cought in the crossed fire, and don't even talk about the dev's, people that work need to be paid, its difficult for people to undestand this?
sorry i dont know if it can be talked here, i am not a forum guy myself.

with a hude ps3 fan base it means if piracy does succeed a huge number of people could use the piracy. i would say benefit but im not sure it is a benefit.
but either way, more people able to pirate, means its a bigger problem. thats just logical. so if a good pirate thing comes onto the ps3 it'll be a big problem for sony otherwise, just like xboxers, some would turn to piracy.
i wouldn't because i wouldnt wanna eff up my 300 quid machine, but there are some people who think its worth it.

You're missing point. Just because it COULD become a serious problem doesn't mean that it WILL. And I seriously doubt that it will. Pirates are in all likelihood going to constitute only a tiny minority of the PS3's user base. Not nearly enough to cause any serious problems.
The PS3 platform is packed with millions of loyal fans who support their developers and would never pirate a game. On top of that the PS3 is also making steady penetration into the casual market with the Playstation Move, it's increasingly strong and diverse software library, and of course the growing popularity of Blu Ray. So the legitimate user base of the console is only going to get bigger.
And yes, piracy has been rampant on the Xbox platform for years. But the platform is thriving regardless. And there is no real reason to believe that things will be any different for the PS3.

No doubts that the xBots... oohhh, haven't said that in a few months, will be a little green with envy this year I would say... if they aren't... then I am sorry, they are not true gamers... just wanna bees...
Just to mention, I have gone into this deeply I have to say, the "FailOverFlow" team that tore the PS3 security to shreds blatantly stated that Sony HQ made critical mistakes with the way their random key generator works... in short, in doesn't, and it was a fundamental mistake made by Sony's (and IBM's) cryptology security team... It has kept the console safe... but sadly, not anymore... as anything can now be decrypted and changed, that includes the "EBOOTS" and any Sony FIRMWARE that is released... therefore whatever Sony releases can be decrypted and changed...
It is a disaster in some ways, but can I say this... and I know it may be terrible for some to hear this, but it does accelerate PS4 development, and frankly, whilst the PS3 can still do quite a bit today, compared to cutting edge PC technology it is loosing ground quickly.
In fact many PC owners I talk to lament consoles saying that because console technology falls away relatively quickly after its initial release, they receive "sub standard" iterations of multi-platform titles. The shooters are a good example, where polygon counts could be so much higher for PC's, and yet they suffer at the hands of "dumbed" down multi-plat console conversions.
Some titles differ in quality... "Battlefield 2" looked superb on the PC, when you realise the amount of AA and texture detail you can have compared to the console versions you suddenly realise the age of the consoles. So does a game like "Dirt 2" for example. Some of the multi-platform engines can scale, and scale rather well to use the extra graphical horse power PC's have... but it is still a "compromise" of sorts.
Granted both Xbox and PS3 have some tricks up their sleeves, they can make games looked smoother and better if developed exclusively for as developers can ring the necks out of them... but that advantage can only go so far today...
We will see the best of the PS3 this year... but 2012 and 2013 may be very different... what then!
Q!

Strange the blog would ignore that one if it is coming out....maybe, because there has been no announcement, they can't speak of it yet.
Also bummed Ni No Kuni isn't on the list. Still, same rules apply.

As for Ni no Kuni, I don't see why they wouldn't localize that. Studio Ghibli does have many fans in the west.

Most fans of JRPGs like the accessible middle ground like Final Fantasy, Suikoden, Xenosaga, Chrono series, stuff like that. And none of those great series are on the horizon. But Ar Tolenico is closer to that and yes I have made reference to it on here a number of times.
If they announced Suikoden VI or Legend of Dragoon II, or a good Final Fantasy, this place would riot in the streets with happiness.

"Looks like" being the key expression here. Let's hold off on passing judgement until the game actually get released here. And I've also heard that the recently released english trailer for the game doesn't do a particularly good job of representing it. I've heard that the game is actually quite dialogue and character driven. And I for one am very curious about it.

Just be patient. Look for the deals. And you'll get a more games for a lot less compared to those who drop around $60 to get it on release windows.

Although frankly I don't see why it wouldn't eventually be localized. Atelier Rorona has done well in the west in terms of sales after all.

If you're only interested in one single title and are not open to anything else even within that title's genre, you need to expect to be 'disappointed'. But as far as I'm concerned, that's their own damn problem. ESPECIALLY with the quality of the lineup.
If you're a gamer or a PS3 fan period, you weren't left out.
My post was more getting at the fact that the list contains a broad range of game genres, styles, and most of which are at AAA calibre.
I mean, geeze, if I'm a fan of a particular series I can't be disappointed every year a game from that series isn't released...
EDIT: After re-reading the referenced list, it could also be possible that they picked what they anticipate to be the most popular or high end pics for the top 20 as I'm sure more than 20 exclusives will come out this year. Of course, what deserves to be top 20 is subjective, and if that IS what they did, I probably wouldn't agree with some that were left out.
