Two More Classic Characters Set For Mortal Kombat

If you don't have classic characters in a new MK installment, it simply isn't Mortal Kombat.

And when you have the new Game Informer in your hands, you'll find out that two popular characters will indeed return to the roster in the MK reboot. ...well, thanks to Mortal Kombat Online, we don't have to wait; the info is already here: Goro and Jade will be returning. Goro will reprise his role as a boss (and an annoying one, too, if history is any indication), and he'll even be back in his classic Lair setting. As for Jade, she'll be a blend of her UMK3 and MKD personas and of course, her boomerang will be in full effect. Also, for the Xbox 360 fans, it has been confirmed that the developers are seeking an exclusive MK fighter for the 360 version. After all, the PS3 fans get Kratos, so... Nothing has been announced just yet, but that's only because they can't really find an exclusive character besides Master Chief in the 360 world... Okay, sorry, sorry, didn't mean it. Swear.

Anyway, they have hinted at the possibility that more characters could arrive via DLC in the future, so that'd be cool. We could just keep firing off suggestions and if the team sees enough demand for a certain character, we might end up getting our wish.

Kratos has everything to do with words "Mortal Kombat".

I was gonna say Marcus Fenix. He has his Golden Lancer strapped to his back and whips it out as a special move.

Honestly, I reckon the PS3 version is the version most will get cos of the Kratos exclusive. His character just suits the MK universe perfectly.

And Marcus Fenix? He's violent, yeah, but his character just doesn't suit the MK universe. Sorry MS, but Sony won this battle.

And apart from Fenix, there's really no other exclusive character they can get for the MK universe. Except the Kinectimals tiger, that would be freakin hilarious!!! I'd get MK on 360 just to play as Kinectimals tiger cub, trick your opponent by looking cute and fluffy, then spring onto them, maul their neck and fatality rip their head off with the tiger's eyes shining red at the screen!! LOL!! :D

lol. my brother said the same thing about a possible 360 exclusive character but added something about alan wake in the MK game too. I can actually admit I'm looking forward to a MK game for the first time in years (since MK 3).

I dig it can't wait to get this. I remember back in the day at the grocery store teenagers use to stack their quarters on the screen.

I always did like Jade better than Mileena.

Xbox doesn't really have any exclusives it's so bad they had to put gta and ff.

Jade! Yes, now I'm even more psyched for this game. Hope she looks more like she did in UMK3 than in MKD. Her MKD look is a bit too superficial/over the top for no reason.

Goro really manhandles you in MKII... It's great to see him back.

Halo too kiddy for Mk universe.

I'm really psyched for this game. I was such an MK nut back in the day. Really looking forward to seeing MK go back to it's roots, that winning formula. I sure hope they get it right.

As for an xbox exclusive character... I'm stumped... I think you guys have already narrowed it down to the only two that could make sense... and Kratos owns everyone.

I have a vision of the opening sequence with an awesomely choreographed and well rendered fight sequence between Kratos and Scorpion. That would be badass.

what are you talking about no exclusives? The 360 version will get 2010 Camero SS from Forza. Fatality could be parking the enemy in the garage with the car running. You heard it here first.

Ah-ha! The Too Human protagonist. That is just about the only exclusive character that would fit in a Mortal Kombat game. Master Chief doesn't really fight, neither do the Gears characters, Alan Wake runs around with a torch, and the cop from Crackdown might be a halfway decent fit but the Too Human guy would be better.

Not saying he is a good character or that game was even halfway decent.

I like the additions of Goro and Jade. I favored Jade more than Kitana and Mileena. This MK is going to be one hell of a reboot..

As far as 360 characters..Fenix, Master Chief, and Alan Wake only ring a bell. I can see Alan Wake in it..doesn't need any story behind him. He has a heavy duty flashlight, flash bangs, flares, etc.....Sad...lack of exclusives leaves for lack of a character to implement into such a game..

Such a problem with the 360 they don't have a character with charisma, GeoW characters looks like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles rejects,Halo? Power Rangers rejects, Alan Wake? Silent Hill Reject and no cardio.

Yeah I can't think of anybody for 360 either. It must be tough when you have no games.

I'm really looking forward to this reboot too, but THE most important thing alongside numerous cool fatalities are the stage fatalities.

We must have The Pit in all it's iterations and anything new they can think of, we must have the Deadpool, the spiked ceiling, etc. There was no feeling quite like knocking a d*ckhole off the bridge and watching him fall to his brutal death.

Ahhh the nostalgia, I was Scorpion and Reptile back in the day. Useda draw MK pictures in class instead of listening to the teacher. :)

Man the stage fatalities are great. Personally I liked the deadpool stage fatality more then The Pit ones. Nothing like watching your enemy get cooked to death and the corpse float past you..Like the spiked ceiling as well.

I'm a die hard Sub-Zero fan though..Bad Assery since the beginning of the series..

Wow though, MK pictures as a kid? Would have caused your teachers some worry if they found out: "Golly, World, what is this groovy hellish lookin' picture! So much groovy gore! Wait till I show your parents, groovy." Ah the seventies. I wasn't around then.

I was thinking about this whenever I first saw Kratos in the MK trailer. I can't think of anyone especially since most 360 exclusives are shooters. I dunno I think they won't have a choice but to only do Kratos for ps3 or stick with a multiplat character for the 360.

Lets be honest The Xbox has Alan Wake (it's a fighter what's his skill gonna be hit them with a typewriter lol). Master Chief is an obvious choice or Marcus Fenix off Gears Of War. They could use Sam off Splinter Cell athough wasn't Conviction the only one that was exclusive ?

Any decent Fable characters ?

It's really quite hard to choose a Xbox-exclusive character for MK since so many of their exclusive characters are in sci-fi settings. Kratos obviously fits with the PS3 version because he's based in a fantasy setting and holds blades rather than a gun. I think the two that would fit the best would be either a character from Fable or that dude from Too Human. Then again, who really gives a $#!+ about those characters? I think in the end, just for recognition sake, they'll go with Master Chief, gun or not.

Someone from the old xbox games maybe that system had some cool characters......Hmmmmmm!!! How about Ryu Hyabusa & I know NG is Multiplat but it did start off as Xbox exlcusive at 1st.

Another questions is, if it wasn't Kratos for PS3 who else would it be?
I'd love to see snake, I gotta throw that in there. Rachet and Clank, nah. Hey on a side note, that guy from Dante's inferno would work if he was exclusive. Cole from infamous.

Kratos is so perfect, its hard to think of others but I've got:

Twisted Metal has a lot of characters that fit.
Nathan Drake could do the job being kinda Johny Cage.
A lot of Yakuza characters can do the work too.
Nariko would be perfect.

Also if GeoW and Halo are valid choices, you could add Killzone ( I would like a helgast) and Resistance franchises.

The Xbox character should be RRoD
It's a floating green 4 quadrant ring that shoots read death beams.

When RRoD performs a fatality your 360 locks up while Shao Kahn's voice runs in an endless loop "You weak pathetic fool. You weak pathetic fool. You weak pathetic fool"

There are a few 360 candidates but none of them suit the MK universe in any way. I personally think the best bet would be the original Dead Rising's Frank West but even then, a freelance photographer whose covered wars doesn't make any sense in the MK realm, but DOA4 did include Halo's spartan into their world of pretty anime looking characters so who the F knows.

The lass from Bullet Witch could be one or one of the zombie slayer queens from Onechanbara Vortex, but both of those games were turds so i doubt they will even get a look in.

I actually don't think 360 will end up getting an exclusive character.

as long as they have scorpion and sub zero, which they do im happy!
i cant wait till this comes out, its nice to have my MK back!
kinda disappointed the combat styles are gone though, they were by far the best part of deception!
i wish they would just release deception 2.
keep the combat styles in, you know each character had 2 combat styles and a weapon style so you could switch them on the fly which allowed like 100 hit combos!

I enjoyed the conquest mode too, learning from all the characters, even had a half decent story too!

MISINFORMATION. heh... in the actual report from Game Informer it says, "Though an Xbox 360-exclusive character isn't out of the question, Boon says that none are in the works as of this writing."

They're not working on any Xbox related characters. He says maybe as DLC, but not like Kratos.
