THQ Would Love To Keep Working With Schafer And Co.
If you're a fan of studio Double Fine and Tim Schafer, you really ought to reward them for their latest projects.
Double Fine gave us Costume Quest last year and we're expecting Stacking this year, and if you want to see more, THQ says you should give the games a try. THQ boss Danny Bilson says he wants to keep working with Schafer and Co. because he has a ton of respect for them; said Bilson:
"I really wanna do a lot more with Tim [Schafer]. I've always been a huge Tim fan. Grim Fandango to me is one of the greatest works of art in gaming. Stacking I fell in love with. When Tim brought that in, I was like, 'Let's do this game! This is fantastic!'"
Right now, THQ only has a two-game deal with Double Fine, to handle the two games mentioned here. But it's important that that the publisher see some bucks for their efforts, so they can continue to support Schafer's visions. "We've gotta get some hits rolling so I have more money to spend, to be honest with you," finished Bilson. Yeah, well, Schafer has never gotten his just due in the industry and that may never change.
By the way, what do you think of THQ's new logo?

I sure hope that isn't so, because I think it would be a waste of his talents.
Not that smaller games are bad, but as a collector, I just don't want DL games.
BTW, I could kick myself because I had a PS2 copy of Grim Fandango in my hand along with another title. And at that moment, I only had enough $$ to buy 1 game, so since I know, and wanted the other game, I put G.F. back.
And now I can't find any console version of it anywhere. And other than lots of the PC version still selling today, it seems like F.D. doesn't even exist anymore in consoleland.

Hate to say it because I like innovation in gaming, but Schafer should probably take on something that is more likely to please more people and then put that patented Double Fine edge on it rather than try to reinvent the wheel every time they make a game.
