Bond Returns To Theaters And Games In Late 2012

James Bond 007: Blood Stone really wasn't a bad game, even if it fell shy of the high expectations.

It was also the only option for the fans last year, as the new Bond film was postponed. But now that production has started on a new film, it's no surprise to learn that another video game based on the legendary spy is in the works. Bond's license holder, MGM, has been involved in bankruptcy issues but now, the new movie is confirmed for November 9, 2012 and in addition: "Yet another James Bond videogame, which also had been held up because of uncertainty, recently got the go-ahead." We assume the interactive adventure will be out around the same time as the movie, but the report didn't include an estimated launch date. Recently, we've seen rumors that studio Raven Software was working on a new Bond title, and it would revolve around stealth, but that hasn't been confirmed as of yet. We hope it's true, though; Bond definitely needs a heavy dose of stealth, right?

Well, maybe that's just me. Anyway, I actually went ahead and finished Blood Stone after reviewing it, just because it was decent - albeit flawed - fun. It's worth a play-through for a budget price.

I had a great time with Blood Stone. My favorite part was the melee system. The driving parts I thought kinda sucked IMO.

driving bits were awesome...if you managed not to crash every 10 meters. the car control was flawed but had some awesome moments.

I really haven't played many Bond games since the first goldeneye. But if this one is more of a stealth/splinter cell type game, and gets decent ratings, I might give it a try.

GoldenEye 007 on the Wii was the game to play between the two (Blood Stone). Graphics weren't great but the game play was great and so was the classic storyline.

oh god thats all we need another rushed half asked movie tie in game!
you would think these people would catch the message by now!
games follow movie license, so there budget and time schedule is restricted they suck.
games follow a movie but not restricted to the license so they can have a larger buget and dont have to release the same time as the movie so they can take there time.
you would of thought these people would of caught the drift by now!
iron man 1 and 2 followed the license that sucked!
Transformers 1 and 2 followed the license they sucked!
transformers revenge of cybertron did not follow the license it ruled!
batman AA did not follow the license it got GOTY!
seeing a trend develop here?
bond QoS followed the movie license and it sucked!
bond blood stone did not follow the license and it was ok.
get the trend yet?
heloo people!!!!!!!!!

You know this announcement basically makes the dev cycle something close to two years. If Among Thieves can be made in that time, I have hope. Then again, Activision is the publisher so... perhaps Black Ops is a better quality standard.

And just because it has a defined license doesn't automatically equate to epic suckage. Look at Wolverine... It apparently wasn't too bad.

dude, you cant compare ND to a crappy third party developer!
what took ND 2 years would take them at least 5!
you got to remember ND have some of the industries best programmers!
isent the new bond movie due out early 2012?
sounds more like 1 or 1 and a half years to me.
Wolverine was bad, one of the buggiest games i have ever played!!!!!
not saying 100% of the time, just 99.9999999999999999999999% of the time.
hey, prove me wrong, hopefully this comes out and is better than blood stone.
but i wont be holding my breath!
and they actually were not running off the movie license, they were completley independent from the film team unlike most movie based games.

The movie, as stated in the article, is due out in November of 2012. So that is just short of two years. But, I'm just saying that Uncharted proves what can be done in two years, not what WILL be done. It's called hopefulness, and yes, I still have that.

You're probably right though. It'll simply be another cash-in attempt, made all the more likely with Activision at the helm.
Peace.

with developers like ND anything can be done in 2 years.
the point i was trying to make is the best developer antivision has, take them and make them 500 billion times better and there still not even close to what ND can do!
they could not make uncharted 2 if they had a unlimited budget, 50 years to make it and there lifes depended on it!

Bond done right, incorporating all of the elements of the films, would be utterly fabulous. TPS, melee, stealth, driving segments... basically Uncharted in an action setting rather than adventure with a more serious protagonist. Where could they go wrong?

Add in L.A. Noire-like elements in needing to interrogate witnesses and track down clues... My god that would awesome.

Good to see Bond's got another film coming. Hopefully it's more subtle like the older ones than what we've seen lately. Maybe I'm imagining things in that respect as it's been yeeears since I saw anything before Casino Royale. I just get the feeling that the older ones focussed more on the suave side of Bond. I'm rambling.
Peace.

That Suave side of Bond was a Hollywood creation. Daniel Craig's Bond is much truer to the character of Ian Flemming's books, IMO. I personally much prefer the latest 2 Bond movies to the ones that preceded it. Brosnan was okay - the scripts not so great. I like the new Bond - more grit, less hair spray. No gadgets. Angry. Tough.

Eh... Never was much into Bond. If I get my hands on this, I'll give it a shot. Not going to look hard for it though.
