Rumor: Evidence Of Modern Warfare 3

After the Activision/Infinity Ward debacle, many wondered if the studio would be capable of creating the next Modern Warfare.

But it seems Activision has restaffed the once stripped-down developer, which may or may not be operating at full capacity now, and many assume they're working on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Oddly, nobody has confirmed the game's existence; all we know is that IW should be cranking on a new title, and Activision's Sledgehammer Games is obviously working on some CoD installment. But perhaps we don't need the official confirmation for MW3, 'cuz someone is already playing it... As found by Game Sector Network, a player known as "egonadrian" is in the alpha testing for the third Modern Warfare; you can see the pic in question through the link. It seems pretty clear but as usual, until we have a press release in our inbox, we can't confirm anything. If it's true, it probably won't come as a huge surprise.

At this rate, it does seem likely that we'll have more than one CoD title in 2011. Well, they can try that, but they should be wary of what happened to the booming music genre; it looked unstoppable at one point but after massive over-saturation, it crumbled. So... Oh, what am I saying? Couldn't happen to CoD, right?

Haha I don't know why I'm complaining. I haven't dropped any cash on the series since COD4, and I don't intend to ever again.

well it makes sense, considering that all they have to do is take the old textures and paste them onto new maps. And then after that slightly alter the soldiers textures and add some new guns and a few new killstreak rewards and perks and then presto MW3

I've taken a look and I honestly don't believe it. First I have to state the obvious, if this was real it would not be a Alpha test. It would certainly be a Beta. Alpha test are usually done in the studio of the developer and not by selected gamers.

Second, I have a friend who mod'd his ps3 and you can actually rename titles of the games you're playing on the xmb.

I'm not quite tired of CoD yet, but f it continues at this rate, I might just puke. Yeah, I'd love to know what happened with Soap and company after MW2, but is an entire installment needed for that? Why not just a simple add-on? DLC? Oh, wait... I forgot that IW is a money whore...

As much as i like black ops... i don't think i'll be buying either. There are other FPS' that are way higher on my priority list. Killzone 3, Brink, and Bulletstorm.

I never thought I would feel this way, but I think I'm tiered of CoD. I used to like it a lot for being one of the first games I've ever played back in 03, but now the series seems to have lost its flame since MW. MW3 is probably going to be the last CoD I buy until they make some actual improvements.

COD games aren't that bad, sure they aren't Killzones or Uncharteds but they aren't Rogue Warriors either. And I don't understand the hating on Activision, I mean how can people be so angry at a company for trying to milk as much money out of a product as they can, that's what companies do, so blame our capitalistic society on that one. As for Kotick...well he's an egomaniacal a**hole so yeah hate on him all you want.

It's not that CoD games are bad. It's that after the original MW they have provided absolutely nothing new other then different campaign. The online is always the exact same. Which nobody wants to keep getting the same game year in and year out *coughmaddencough

Todays society is based on capitalism and is all about profit, therefore companies will do whatever they can to maximize profit. How does that not make sense?

You are right, They are milking the shit out of all these... idiots out there who keep buying every COD installment and then say its the best game ever, when really has not improved on anything other then a bit better graphics then COD4MW.

What will people say if Modern Warfare 3 smashes Black Ops sales records? It appears that Activision could care less about a handful of gamers who think their game is crap. I must admit that I'm tempted to buy a used Black Ops or MW2 just to see why so many people are buying it. I really don't like 1st person shooters that much (besides Bioshock)so I'm clueless as to why the games are smashing sales records. There's got to be a good reason.

Given that the game is a multiplat with the fan base it has it wouldn't be surprising to be honest. Besides there are far more 360 owners who play the game. That is a fact.

The game is addictive to those who just want to pick up and shoot. Most of us here have had the original MW which was very good. Yet each installment after that has been the same thing over and over. It's not a crap game..It's not the best either..It's just a game that doesn't offer anything new to warrant the hardcore gamers to keep buying a copy of each installment in the series.

Int he call of duty series of all games it the modern ones that people tend to like more, since black ops wasn't entirely up to date, but however it seems black ops might have lots of sales, but i bet if mw3 comes out the gaming industry will shoot up sky rocket high!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL. we all knew it was coming eventually & if the rumor isnt true we can still look forward to another COD either mid 2011 or late 2011. i wont be buying another COD if my kinfolks want it i will buy it for them.

hopefully with the amount of money they generated from series now they ADD MAJOR IMPROVMENTS cause the only difference i can tell from the series is the setting for each installment.

the modern warfare series is better than the CoD's treyarch made. i just hope IW wraps up the modern warfare series with an excellent ending to the cliffhanger in their last game. even though their camaigns are short, i really enjoy them and still replay them to this day.

Never got into the modern warfare storyline. Just didn't interest me or suck me in like a lot of other great games out there. Sure, it's a good story for a military shooter, but having the action on 11 all the way through only hurts the game. That's why MW1 was my favourite. It had a good mix of slow pace and fast pace moments. I liked that balance.

I'm neither. MW's storyline was just so convoluted and mixed up that you can't understand anything. 3arc was just ok, but nothing very memorable. In my book, only MGS was able to execute and deliver spot-on conspiracy stories.

it exists, theres no doubting that but i dont think will be seeing it for a while.
id say sledgehammers game would release first which is suppose to be a MMO doubt it will be MW3.
than theres suppose to be a game stared by ghost, which ill bet IW will be working on and probably will release 1 year after sledgehammers game.
than theres treyarch, theres no way there hanging up the COD torch, especially after BOs performance!

Are we meant to be jealous of this person playing or excited about a new modern warfare leak? Was activision expecting a huge hoard of posts and buzz over this thing?

All I can hear is crickets and the sound of people not caring.

Hardcore gamers are over CoD. Casual gamers will only know about a new MW if it's advertised on tv or on billboards. I for one no longer care for this franchise, and even tho I got MW 2 and Black Ops, it was purely for splitscreen multiplayer on each console, one for PS3 and another for 360. Now I have one on each, I'm done.

I also can't see how the games will improve on anything from here on out. CoD doesn't need a sequel. It needs a major overhaul. New graphics. New physics. New gameplay modes. Vehicles!!! Realism, perhaps. An overhauled multiplayer that gives newcomers like me chance, or perhaps make more fun minigames that require staying alive the longest without shooting a single bullet. Missions or MP games about patience and accuracy, not speed and reflexes.

Or I can just ignore anything CoD related and go back to playing top notch single player games. I miss the good ol days of great single player games being bigger and better than any online shooter.

What's the point in buying any of these if they come out with a new one so often, effectively stamping out the online community and expecting u just to jump on the next one. No thanks, I'm fine with Mag, that is actually supported after release.

I played in the Mag Beta and it was fun but not super exciting. I was expecting more. Mag's multiplayer can't touch Uncharted 2's multiplayer.

Yeah, Uncharted 2 always leaves me with a smile on my face. But leveling up takes AGES.. And while its fair, the perks don't really seem to offer too great an advantage (which is both a PRO and a CON).

Me likey pushing up to destroy a tower and healing up my whole squad to power through :)
