Sony Reinforces Move Goal: To Cater To The Hardcore
If a gamer was forced to choose between the PlayStation Move and Microsoft's Kinect, Sony would ask one question in reply: "how big of a gamer are you?"
We've heard this business philosophy before and Sony continues to stand by it: as reported by the Wall Street Journal, the makers of Move say they will continue to focus on the hardcore crowd. Director of Hardware Marketing, John Koller, has confirmed that they're "layering on more and more core titles" in 2011, and he's talking about games that specifically cater to the big-time avid players. Of course, such players tend to be interested in the deeper, more complex, more immersive games, especially those that feature realistic action. Koller adds that the technology behind Kinect "can't match the greater precision of PlayStation Move," which is something we've heard before. In regards to Kinect, Koller said- "The limitations are such that you can't create all the games you want to do." Upcoming Move games include hardcore stuff like SOCOM 4 and Killzone 3.
Microsoft has reported that they've shipped 8 million Kinect units in the first 60 days of its release, and Sony says they've shipped 4.1 million Move units since the new tech launched in mid-September. Koller admits Microsoft's number is "impressive" but also adds that Sony is "happy where we are in the market."

What about a game similar to Demon's Souls? Absolutely brutal, while forcing you to take your time through it, or another similar swordfight simulator (Woah.. I hate alliteration)
A turn-based RPG, where you use Move to select your battle commands. That would actually be slack, but perhaps it would require certain movements to get the most out of the attack.
How about something to rival SMG? Like LBP designed around the Move, rather than incorporating it simply as a multiplayer option.
Even more like Echochrome 2. They could make a killing with innovative PSN titles like Flower.
Maybe it is simply too early to be expecting this, and we should wait until the end of the year, but I want to see Move being utilised as Sony wants us to think that it is being. Oh well, at least we still have more options than Kinect :P
Peace.

I also agree that Move is far better suited for a wider variety of gaming.

So who cares if this Kinect-kraze spurs major 360 growth over the coming months. It doesn't matter. The quality software and premium game sales is what counts, and from the looks of it, Sony has that top secured for some time going forward. Besides the mass market trend brand isn't doing the real multi-genre hardcore fans any favors.

I know Sony will bring more out for the Move just like they did with the PS3 on launch they take their time they don't rush which is why i love the company they feel quality is way better than what they're numbers are at least that's what it seems.

Where the kinect fails, the move shines. It's just like any other technology the breaks the barrier of hardware limitations. It'll only be limited to ones imagination and creativity, not by the ability of the hardware. Once we get something that'll wow the audience and make an convincing argument regarding it's hardcore gaming ability, the flood gates will open.
The move is impressive. There's no question about it. It's fast, accurate and comfortable. It has software downfalls, though. Nothing I've played has been as glitch free, although I've only played with sports champion and most glitches are acceptable and noninvasive to gameplay.
I hope Sony puts in a good effort with software because god knows the hardware is ready for some abuse!

I don't think the same can be said for kinetic. I feel PS3 owners are waiting for more intriguing titles before they make their purtchase. Where as 360 owners have just gone for kinetic just for the sake of it. I have a 360 and a PS3. I bought myself the PS move as admittedly I had cash on the hip but wanted it for those hardcore games.
I was asked if I wanted the kinetic as a present from my brother. After seeing it in action I declined it. It was on show in a game store and there were these teenagers trying it out. there was this cursor on screen and this lad with his hands trying his best to move the cursor. It was this boxing game very similar to what you would find at home on the Wii. when the game was ready to start the bout, the user was asked to place both hands above their heads to start. which he did, but it failed to start. you could see he wasn't doing wrong, its just it was so unresponsive to his actions he was performing.
I can't say if this is the case generally with all games but it was enough to put me off. It has to be a 'try before you buy' rather than be a 360 fan and just buy it.

I have my fingers crossed for Playstation Move Heroes to be a hit with critics as well as comsumers/gamers. I want it to be a damn good game! Same goes with Sorcery when it releases this year as well. Big titles like those, that succeed, will encourage to all other awesome "under the radar" games to surface.

The hacker/modder/homebrew/tech communities have been snatching them up for use in other non-gaming applications.
Plus another thing you all need to remember is...
how many of thousands+ of those Kinects that MS reported shipped, were actually given away at the Ellen show, Oprah's show,Jimmy Fallon's show, Jimmy Kimmle's show???????????????
Plus....all the pre-release free Kinect giveaway parties MS sponsored, the Times Square Kinect release.
And not to mention all the Kinects given out to all the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Plus all the contests, including Burger King's.
