FFXIII-2 Trailer Now Available In HD With English Voice
When it was first announced, all we had was the Japanese trailer. And because there was plenty of dialogue, some viewers felt they were missing something important.
Well, you can view that Final Fantasy XIII-2 trailer now in high-definition and with the English voice; Lightning narrates and although she doesn't really give us any hints about the sequel, it does help. However, if you have not finished FFXIII and you intend to at some point, there are some definite spoilers in the video. You probably guessed that if you caught the Japanese version but we just figured we'd warn you.
There's just something about that trailer that irks us but at the same time, it has that classic Square-Enix polish. We have asked what "evolved" means and the more we think about it, the more we think the developers are heading in the wrong direction. But who knows? Maybe they'll surprise us all and deliver something that plays like an RPG; maybe it won't feature the real-time combat found in Versus XIII.
Until we catch the gameplay details, FFXIII-2 is up in the air.

But did anyone notice something. Check out the date: "NEXT WINTER"...Winter 2012. WHAT...THE...HELL.
In the Japanese trailer it said Coming 2011.
Or when they say "next winter" they really mean Winter 2011, since we are currently in the winter season (well most of us...lucky Aussies! & penguins!)

The english and japanese voice overs both sound good to me. Can hardly tell the difference. Maybe back in the day you could easily tell how bad the english voice overs where (for example: Samurai Showdown the movie).
It seems like people only like them now in days because it is japanese and never give their american counter parts any credit. Maybe it is a otaku thing or japanese pride situation. Either way, I still have no freaking clue...

While there is some truth to what you say, I've personally always preferred subtitled foreign language movies to dubbed ones. There is something about the original performance that somehow doesn't always translate to an English dub. I'm not saying that's always the case, but it definitely *is* the case many, many times.
As an example, have you ever seen Das Boot? I've seen it in German with subtitles and dubbed. I saw the German with sub-titles first, and saw it was coming on again years later and decided to watch it - not knowing it was the dubbed version. I didn't hate the dubbed version, but it felt hollow. A year or two later, I purchased it on DVD, and was uber-annoyed to find out that what I thought was a subtitled version turned out to be the dubbed version. Now the thing is, that the dub was done with a good cast of actors, but it just didn't capture something that the original had.
On the flip side, there are plenty of Anime where the dubbed version is superior. Then again, there are plenty where it's not... Some of it is personal taste, some is the quality of the cast, and some is the quality of the voice casting. I always hate it when the folks casting the voices think that they know better than the original director and can take a voice in a different direction.

BTW, any news on WKC2? All this talk of RPGs has me wondering whether there is any more info on that one? The last information I can find was indirect confirmation of localization and suggestions that Sony will release WKC2 internationally once two major DLCs for WKC2 are launched in Japan.

I really hope the trophies and online guild stuff is re-evaluated for WKC2. I wonder if the US will get the revamped first game with the second as well. If they do I'll play that through again with the improvements for sure.

I know what you're saying, believe me, I do. But, I also think it might be worth it. It isn't as hard as you think, and doesn't take as much time as you might think. The quests escalate in the number of guild points and XPs you get, so you can level both quite quickly in the end. It does take too long for my liking, but I really want to rebirth my avatar and beef up my Georama.

Plus I really don't want to return to that FF13 universe. Since its due out this yr in Japan, we'll have to have new details on gameplay soon. I'll make a decision then.

If FFVII has 6 titles, they all take place in the world of FFVII. If it has a different roman numeral, it's a different world with different people. That's all you need to know. Gameplay often changes no matter the Roman Numeral. In the end, judge each game as it's own entity.

There are also a lot of names based on weather and element patterns, and variously cool versions of summoned monsters to help you (Ifrit, Shiva, Bahamut)
These are all part of the charm that fans have friendly arguments over, which had the better Bahamut, which had the best story, which had the best villain, which had the best battle/support system? and on and on.
Hope that helps too.

But I think I'll wait for a few reviews, particularly from here. Either that or wait for a price drop. If they can make the characters interesting, I'm all in. So... we'll see.

Also, while that armor looks nice on Light, I hope she goes back to some semblance of her other outfit once she's done pledging allegiance to this new government/army and it inevitably screws her over. (Final Fantasy E.S.P. in action people)

There is also the possibility that she joins some faction down on Pulse that is less technologically inclined and more mideval-style.
Imagine that, the whole game is an explorable, wide open world with villages and city-state governments and stuff down on Gran Pulse.
