Buy Killzone 3, Gain Early Entry Into SOCOM 4 Beta

If you're into shooters and you plan on playing both Killzone 3 and SOCOM 4, we have good news.

Zipper Interactive will be conducting a beta test for the latest SOCOM installment, and fans have been wondering how to gain access. Well, we know of at least one way: buy Killzone 3. Zipper's Chris Roper made this clear in speaking to IndustryGamers:

"To get early access to the beta, look for the SOCOM 4 callout on the front of all eligible copies of Killzone 3 (including both the standalone and Helghast Editions). Inside the box you’ll find a PSN code that you’ll be able to redeem for your early access as soon as the beta goes live. To find out when the SOCOM 4 multiplayer beta begins, be sure to check back at SOCOM.com once you pick up your copy of Killzone 3, hitting shelves on February 22nd."

By the way, both games will be compatible with PlayStation Move, so if you like how Move works with one, you might be more inclined to try it with the other. We suggest grabbing that official rifle accessory if you plan to give it a try. Although KZ3 and SOCOM 4 are bound to be very different experiences, fans of the genre should appreciate both for various reasons.

For now, SOCOM 4 is slated to release some time in April; we'll let you know when they solidify a release date. We'll also let you know when they've offered other ways of getting into the beta.

I'm not much for SOCOM but I do care for KZ3. I think Amazon has a good pre-order deal going on. The game is like $4 off and comes with free downloadable content (multiplayer maps etc)

I just hope i can get KZ3 during the launch window. My family and I are moving to a university come summer. I decided to change my degree from a BA/BS in programming to a BA/BS in 3D computer animation and game design. I'm going to be short on spare money and $60 will be hard to swallow no matter what it is. Though, my B-day is in Feb .... so all hope is not lost =)

Clever. It's pretty much the same thing that was done with inFAMOUS and the Uncharted 2 beta. I guess that must have worked out well for everyone involved.

Since the ps2 days socom has always been my favorite online mp game. Nothing tops socom2. And foxhunt is probably the best map ever created! Anyways its no doubt ill be getting KZ3 on day one so this is a huge added bonus. Cant wait for both games!

As for the gun im real excited about it to. Im looking forward to trying that out. I dont know that ill use it over my controller but it should be a great alternative. Considering how impressed i am with the way move works with MAG w/ out the gun attachment.

I just read that OPM gave it a 9/10. (source:CVG)


"For those who will be playing Killzone 3 on a 3DTV with a Move controller, OPM calls the experience "remarkable", while on gameplay terms "Black Ops is the only FPS on PS3 that can match this" --OPM

umm Black Ops? serious?

They also claim the voice acting is off and the story lacks "emotive punch"

On the bright side they claim the game is amazing in 3D with a Move controller

I hope SOCOM is worth the effort/wait. Being an original Socom player I've been disappointed with the series' progression. They had a Halo/COD type following back in the early 2000's and let it all slip away. Friggin moes.

Socom 4 is the last chance I'm giving this series. They let every other game be it original or sequel blow by it and take their market share.

I wish them the best but hope they deliver a dynamite game like they need to.

I don't think Zipper will let us down. Their support for MAG puts every developer I have seen to shame.

I still enjoy the gameplay in Confrontation now that the bugs are mostly worked out. Slant 6 kind of dropped the ball on that game but it's been vastly improved.

With Zipper back behind the wheel of Socom 4...I'm expecting good things from this one..

I was going to get KZ3 anyways, I'm not usually big on Beta's as I feel they usually ruin people on an experience of a game more then anything, but for Socom I'll make an exception.

Any news yet whether either one of these games will be bundled with the Move Assault rifle or is that going to be sold separately still?

Give me a KZ3 or Socom 4 bundled with the Assault Rifle and the New BT headset and I'd be okay with that...they could throw in a Sony 3-D TV for free to sweeten the deal if they wanted. I'd be okay with that too......

I know i can't wait to get KZ3 and Socom, i love Socom 2 a lot when i used to play it, it's my top favorite of the socoms. Confrontation is alright but it feels a lot different from the feel of the old Socoms which is understandable because those are old games now and a different developer made the new one.

So Socom 4 is on my purchase list and I'm glad that Zipper is making this one.

I've actually never played a SOCOM game before and have naturally never been a fan of the series. Even so, I can definitely see myself giving SOCOM 4 a try.

Sweet, the two best shooters of 2011. I'm not sure where Homefront sits, but I'm picking it up on day one, so we'll see. It's looking awesome.

They should change the name of this socom 4 to another because this game dont have nothing to do with socom.
Slant sux killed socom im a big fan of socon and i can tellyou that it's impossible to play this game right now because of the gliches and hackers. this jailbreak killed socom.
i just hope that sony dosomething about it because now everybody is able to modify any game the way they want.

I know that zipper is making socom 4 but they dont care about socom die hard fans want . this socom 4 has cover system like uncharted " never on socom " if u got shot and get cover u got all ur healt back " never on socom " Air strike?? i dont remember that , a shoulder view and fps view like call of duty , plus that i didnt see a way to switch from shoulder to shoulder "garbage"
And when im saying that people modify the game im talking about infinity healt . means they dont die no matter what , 1500 bullets on a gun , super jump and all that bull....
People modify the game to cheat not no make it better so this need to stop or im going to stop playing ps3. it has to be a way to stop all this crap. Socom confrontation is a online game only so they should keep updating the game not leave it like it is right now "unplayable"
