Leaked L.A. Noire Trailer Shows May 17 Launch Date

Well, it seems those supposedly informed retailers were wrong.

The image you see here comes from the leaked L.A. Noire trailer. Rockstar has already removed the video for copyright reasons, but not before many sources snagged the important information: it seems Team Bondi's innovative and potentially evolutionary title will be available on May 17, not April 5, as recent retailer evidence suggested. That trailer will officially go live on Monday but some naughty little monkey posted it to YouTube earlier this morning. Rockstar acted quickly but you can't avoid the searching gaze of hundreds of interested sites, you know? All we know about that trailer is that it's called "Serial Killer," and shows Detective Cole Phelps working on the case. Apparently, that MotionScan technology is in full effect and is awfully impressive. The May 17 date is nearly 6 weeks later than the date predicted by GameStop and Amazon, but it does fall in line with the expected "Spring 2011" date already offered by the publisher.

So yeah, come Monday, everything should be official. Make sure you check out that trailer when it drops; it should be something special.

Looking forward to that trailer. I wonder if there will be any worthwhile preorder incentives cuz I'm gonna be ready to rock this adventure right away.

I want to see this game, I haven't watched any trailers or anything about, this game. The only thing I know about this game is that it was originally meant as a ps3 exclusive, but that is no longer. It's been many years, so I hope this game will be very good.

I just can't get over the fact that it went multiplat, I mean everything about this game looks great but there's always going to be that feeling of "what if?". I don't want to sound like a mindless ps3 fanboy but it's a fact that blu-rays have more space and the ps3 is more powerful, anyways I will try to reserve further judgement until I read some reviews.

I think it will still be great, for many games this gen we just have to try to stifle the what if? questions and enjoy what is there. It's a shame MS couldn't be bothered to actually make a next gen machine that uses next gen media, but our hands are tied by them when it comes to third party games.

Ya you're right, it's best to just enjoy what we get, and there is still a lot of good quality multiplats out there. But I still wont forgive MS for taking old tech and putting a new label on it, I mean they really are that kid whose holding the whole class back.

They didn't have to use Blu Ray, they could have made a proprietary media that holds a decent amount and still charged whatever they wanted. You can't even say they fill those DVDs because for some reason there is a bunch of copy protection on them even though the bloody games can be pirated easily right off the internet.

I think they saved enough money making it out of cheap plastic and outdated Chinese jet engines to warrant something better than a last gen media reader.

Of course not. I agree with you. But video game technology has a long way to go to fully realize the human imagination so, in a sense, all games are shy of their 'true' potential. Great developers work around hardware. Having the weakest system last gen did not stop the PS2 from having the best experiences.

I understand what you're saying and I agree that good developers can make great games regardless of hardware. All I am saying is that having better tech does help and I think it's up to the console maker to try and reduce the technical restrictions as much as possible, which MS clearly didn't.

If M$ had put in an HD disc drive (say, HD-DVD), they wouldn't have been able to launch a year ahead of PS3, which would have meant they wouldn't have had their head start and probably wouldn't have become the default system in the minds of the gaming media.

Which means they would be running a distant third at this point, like they deserve to do.

So, yes, I wish they had used an HD medium instead of DVD-9.

I'm buying this game. Rockstar has never disappointed me when it comes to open world and the simple words "serial killer" has my brain racing a mile a minute.

I'll hunt him down and make him pay if it's the last thing I do. You with me Phelps?

Darn, it's 8 days late(my B-day is on the 9th).
When I pick up this game depends on the other titles in my collection at the time and how close the next most have game will release.
This could be a day one purchase but it isn't that high on my 'Most have list' for this year.
But I will get it, I promise you all that.

Okay, so... Dead Space 2 next week when I go to pick up my car.
Killzone 3 at the end of next month.
LBP2 when I get through that.
SOCOM 4 in mid-April, along with perhaps Yakuza 4.
L.A. Noire in mid-May, and then everything else that doesn't yet have anything resembling a solid release date as well, not to mention any older games that I want to pick up. AC2 *cough*
That's a pretty full release schedule. I think I'm going to hate E3 though. How utterly ridiculous is this year?

disappointed its not releasing in april, but eh.

I'm always excited about R* games, like GTA or RDR, but somehow I'm not so sure about L.A. Noire. I hope they will release the demo so I can get a little taste.
