Silent Hill: Downpour Set For Fall, New Screens Emerge
Silent Hill: Downpour has been confirmed by the recent issue of Game Informer, and a few more details - along with new screenshots - have arrived.
You can find the new pics over at VG247; they show off a certain darkness and grittiness customarily associated with this freaky franchise. The better news is that the game should be ready to go for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this fall and thus far, Vatra's effort is looking solid. As for whether or not it'll be a direct sequel, Konami has said Downpour will feature a "completely original storyline," which puts a new protagonist, Murphy Pendelton, in the limelight. He's actually a convict who escapes and finds himself trapped in Silent Hill and you can see parts of the town in those screenshots; two new areas, The Diner and The Devil's Pit, are shown. The plot and atmosphere have always been two of Silent Hill's most crucial elements, and it seems the new designer understands that. As for an official release date, we'll just have to wait a bit longer.
Now, all that's left is for Capcom to announce the new Resident Evil. That has to be soon, wouldn't you think?

As for teh game itself, i hope they've learnt a lesson from Homecoming and make a game worthy of this gen and not a title which should have been released on the PS2.

The game looks way better than Homecoming and it looks like it's bringing back a more solitary feel than Homecoming. Homecoming felt too amateurish and there were too many monsters everywhere. Basically it was kinda like a Hollywood movie.

These new devs really understand the look of SH. The Homecoming devs on the other hand looked like they tried to make a Hollywood movie.
I have hope that Vatra will get it right. Some will never accept a SH that isn't made by the original SH team. But since that team parted ways we can only hope that one of these new devs Konami has hired will get it right.
Love the woods/outback screenshots, there's so much that can happen in wild places like those.
This game gives off a strong SH1 feel which is great, it's my favorite of them all.

But I can do without a new RE. RE5 left a bad taste in my mouth, what with it not being at all scary, or shocking. I know that it wasn't meant to be, but the implications are there with the RE title. Maybe the next Siren from Sony Japan, or perhaps Sega can announce that theirs is going multiplatform.
Peace.

This might end up being a good game, but I'll be very surprised if it turns out to be a good Silent Hill. Like the Final Fantasy series, I guess we can expect to see some dumbed down westernised versions of this franchise too.
Finally got around to completing Silent Hill: Homecoming a few weeks ago, and the ending was the most sh*tasticly cliched thing I've ever witnessed. I'm not even exaggerating. I've witnessed M. Night Shyamalan plot twists that were better than this crap. And I'm talking about his recent movies.

Off topic, but do you think you'll update the mobile site so I can comment from my iPhone? I do most of my browsing of this site on it and I hardly use my computer /:
