The Darkness 2 Revealed, Prepare To "Quad-Wield"
By current standards, The Darkness looks archaic. But the game doesn't get enough credit for being one of the first super fun titles of the generation.
That's just our opinion but we figured it'd be a positive introduction to the following: although Starbreeze isn't handling development duties, it has been revealed that a sequel is in the works. Slated to arrive this fall and being created by Digital Extremes, The Darkness 2 will break free from the standard first-person shooter mold. Featuring giant Demon Arms, "stylistic violence" and Quad-Wielding, it certainly sounds appealing. From the press release:
"The Darkness II breaks out of the sea of conventional first-person shooters, with its fervid Quad-Wielding gameplay, which will allow players to slash, grab, and throw objects and enemies with their Demon Arms while simultaneously firing two weapons."
And it seems they're well along in development, because Marc Silvestri, founder and CEO of Top Cow Productions and co-creater of "The Darkness" comics, seems quite pleased with the game:
"So often disappointed when a favorite character gives birth to a lame movie or video game, us fans have come to expect the worst. And sometimes we get it. But not with The Darkness II. Yeah, call me biased [Ed's note: We did!], but this second installment of Jackie Estacado's epic saga is – in my humble opinion – one of the most brutally cool games I've ever played. 2K Games hammered this one out of the park."
We've been waiting on this announcement for a good four years now; even if Starbreeze isn't handling it, we're still hoping for something wicked sweet.

Then they can make a Witchblade game! :D
I enjoyed the first game, but I only wished that it would have stayed inside the story of the original comic. Although the story in the game was still great. I have always wanted a sequel! Dream come true!

I'm sure we'll find out in the coming months. 2K doesn't disappoint in my experience.

There was no ammo or health counter, eating hearts(hnmm)increased your darkness stamina and unlocked new powers.if ya ran out of darkness in a gun fight you were pretty much dead.Shooting out lights or smashing with the demon arm was vital as darkness ensure that your almost invulnerable(awesome).
i think L1 n R1 were powers and L2 n R2 were for guns,the HUD system worked really well.
Plus the voice acting(Mike patton) for the demon was top notch!!
first time commenting in about 2 years,i now return to the abyss.

oh yea, 2 guns and 2 of those evil arm thingys!
so cant wait for this, the original was so much fun, and one of the spookiest games i have ever played!
not scary, but kinda weird and twisted, some of the death video were just plain wrong!
for such a short and small budget game had a really good storyline to it, which is quite rare for games these days!
