A Half-Million Sample KZ3, Guerrilla Preps Patch
If you track back to later last year, Guerrilla has been testing Killzone 3 for quite a long time.
And the most recent test, the multiplayer public beta trial currently available to download from the PSN, may prove to be the most fruitful. This is simply due to the sheer number of participants: around a half-million, according to the latest update at the game's official site. We found the private beta to be pretty damn solid last year, but Guerrilla has noted new bugs and issues that need to be addressed. A patch, which is already available in Europe and might drop today in North America, should fix most or all of the following problems:
- Connection problems
- High load caused the database to fall over
- Score posting
- Flickering screens
- Ribbon stats not updating
- Vulgarity filter
As for raw numbers, Guerrilla reports that over 500,000 players have already participated in over 350,000 matches and there have been 55 million kills. This is all in the first week of the multiplayer beta's availability, so that's pretty impressive. A single-player demo will be up on the PSN next week - February 15 - and the hotly anticipated PS3 exclusive will hit store shelves on February 22. Are you ready?

I'm really excited for this game! I got my gun attachment pre-ordered and the game pre-ordered! Sounds like my Gamestop is doing a midnight release as well!

On a side note, is it just me or KZ characters feel/look a bit stubby (short and wide)? Also, it takes a lot of time to really kill someone. KZ2 had good hit detection, I'm guessing GG needs to work on that for KZ3.

You are kidding, right?
I mean the part about the taking a lot of time to kill someone in KZ3? Not sure how much KZ2 you played, but it's probably 3 times easier to kill someone in KZ3 now.
In fact, that's actually a complaint by some on the Killzone forums... that it's too easy to kill and be killed now.
As for height, I think it's just Sev that appears to be a little too short in KZ2. I think they needed to raise the camera height a bit. Hopefully this is fixed in KZ3.

Some parents need a good whoppoppage. lol I can see a mature 13 year old playing it...
But EIGHT?! Even if the content of the game itself is permissable by some parents (strange to me, but whatever), the different user names, clan tags, and especially emblems some people put up there are SOOOO bad. Some of these kids need a good smackin'... er... stern talkin' to.

Not going to play the campaign demo. I can wait 13 days for the whole game. I'm with others in that my only gripe is that it's a pain to get revived and always end up looking the opposite direction...only to get shot in the back..

Needless to say, I stayed logged in so it will (hopefully) be still up and running when I get back home. *crosses fingers*

One thing im surprised about, this can be good or bad depending on others opinion, is how accurate the ISA LMG is ( the one with the iron sights ). I don't recall it being is steady as it is now. Actually, quite a few guns feel steadier.

Of course everyone has to calibrate their Move before playing, so I suggest playing with the deadzone options and the turn speed.
Since I hit the sweetspot settings wise, I dont really want to go back to the DS3. And I think the Sharp shooter will make it that much more awesome and controllable!
Dont just pass it off as a gimmick people, Move REALLY works if you get around the learning curve and stick with it. Zooming in and shooting enemies from across the map is an amazing and surprisingly easy thing to do with the Move. I have yet to test the 3D functionalilty with Move though :(

It does take time to get used to a totally new experience when we're so used to using a controller, but I do think it's worth it.

Most people here know I'm not an FPS fan, but man are the controls on this game good. My only complaint is that the jet pack doesn't really let you fly very far, but I guess you would be a little too powerful if it did.

Btw, for those who have played the single player demo, is it the demo shown at E3 last year, or something completely different?

The 22nd is the day I lose $60 bucks.
I do have one problem with the beta, It's still a great experience. I'll get use too it but It's not what I expected. The "heavy" feeling, it's just not their, at all. I loved the heavy feeling of KZ2 but it almost feels as... if...it's... as light as COD... I hate saying that but I was hopeing for some heavyness. They said some of it would be their so they can make everyone happy. But, It's just feels like it ant there at all to me.
I hate comparing it too a game like COD, KZ is on such a higher level.
I downloaded the update last night(I live in the good ole' USA, GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!)

hard to believe this games coming out in 2 weeks time considering the amount of issues the online demo has been having.
ive played 200+ games, and only finished 60!
really wanted to enjoy it till it finished next week, but im sorry i got better things to do than spend 30 minutes raking up points then have them disappear in the last minutes because of unreliable servers!
when will sony stop being such tight asses and give us dedicated servers?
if one of the smallest publishers in the industry can afford it, than surely one of the worlds largest companies can foot the bill!
come on sony, for once take a leaf out of M$s book and stop being so god dam tight ass!!!!!!!!!!
