Black Ops First Strike DLC For PS3 Gets Release Date

If you've been playing Call of Duty: Black Ops since it released, that means you're knee deep in multiplayer fun.

It also means you're on the lookout for more downloadable content, and PlayStation 3 owners can finally celebrate a date: March 3. As posted over at the PlayStation Blog, Treyarch and Activision have announced that the Black Ops First Strike Content Pack for the PS3 will be available worldwide early next month. It includes four all-new multiplayer maps: Berlin Wall, Discovery, Stadium, and Kowloon. You'll do battle on both sides of the old Berlin Wall, brave the freezing temperatures of Discovery, survive the chaos on the Chinese rooftops in Kowloon, and fight off the zombies in Ascension mode in Stadium. The more the game expands, the more people will play, and that's sorta the point. Chances are, the fans will just keep playing until Modern Warfare 3 arrives later this year and even then, the die-hard Black Ops fans won't want to stop. You could just play CoD year-round.

PS3 fans still wish Activision and Treyarch paid more attention to Sony's console, but at least this is a nod.

Does anyone play this game anymore? Even my hardcore Cod fanboy friends have stopped playing it. I fear for the future of this franchise.

Crap Ops has convinced my sons the the COD franchise is not all its cracked up to be. They have returned to MW2 but hackers have destroyed that experience. They are awaiting MW3 but that is up in the air considering the changes at Infinity Ward. Who knows what it will be like.

I bet mw3 will be exactly like mw2...and mw...and black ops.. just like how they are all the same game just a different coat of paint. I bet your sons will realize this once mw3 comes out.

kevinater321 i see what u mean but u can say the same for many sequels such as dead space 2 and yes even uncharted the core game hasnt changed......though i think cod needs some major changes already 4 games now that are very similar

@Kevinator, they realize it now but they hope that MW3 will make some changes. Most likely it will only confirm the worst. But I always remain optimistic.

@godslim: The core gameplay hasn't changed, but they keep improving both Dead Space and Uncharted with each entry it seems, along with adding new stuff. If anything, CoD seems to be taking steps backward in quality, and they barely add anything new.

You know you're a sucky CoD dev when you have to rely on zombies to bring in fans.

Friggin Treyarch. Take you Ascension mode and shove it!

No problemo, Sony FPS fans will be busy with Killzone 3 still. But I'll tell my zombie loving friend about this.

Edit: CoD fans can now look forward to a sustained flow of ripoff content that won't be at all distasteful!

I will say one thing. As much as I enjoy the COD games, and as much as I talke up Treyarch before black ops released because of how much I was impressed by W@W, Treyarch has become as bad as activation and worse than IW. There like the T.O. Or Chad Ochocinco of video games all this money got to em I believe. Now we got a game with servers that are flooded with bugs that Yreyarch simply won't address and more packs for $15 bux with 3 maps and a zombie map! Ugh!

i've recently been playing black ops like a noob. i find people in corners and trap them, which is fun if they have a microphone. i also find new ways of killing your team-mates. i wont be buying the map pack. its just not worth my money.

Not picking up maps for a game that is hardly played. I usually complete the campaigns and attempt to platinum these games but I have yet to finish a veteran run. Thats my way of at least trying to get my money's worth. Killzone 3 will definitely delay that.

$15 for 4 maps is just taxation period. Let alone for a game I rarely play..I mean..Uncharted 2 gave you way more bang for $5. Killzone 2 dlc gave you 2 quality maps for $5 and eventually all 6 for $12...some devs will never learn...

About time us PlayStation 3 users get some love from Call of Duty! I can't wait to get my hands on this. So in non-Black Ops news did anyone read the Modern Warfare 3 plot by the Video Game Enthusiast? It was very interesting, the whole MW3 plot is here http://mwarfare3.com/modern-warfare-3-plot-by-a-video-game-enthusiast-124. I can't wait until Modern Warfare 3 is released!

I would have bought these maps if they would have came out earlier this month. Only because I am just so bored with this game and there hasn't really been any good games that have came out yet. Now their not releasing this DLC till next month, well my friends you just lost my money. KZ3 is my next game and the crysis 2, depending on how good R3 multiplayer is I may not even look at MW3. Plus activision always releases shit on the 360 first, which really pisses me off and a big reason why im not buying the DLC.

I'll be playing Killzone 3 with the Sharpshooter.

And no more COD games for me from now on. Acti can forget about seeing any more of MY money. I made the mistake of paying for BlOps, but amazon has a good trade-in value of about $31, and I'm seriously thinking about trading it in.

all this "people don't play black ops" is crap. I'm sorry but everytime i log on there is at least 400,000 people playing. Doesn't sound dead to me. It's a fun game and the map packs will probably be fun too. But for 15 bucks... No thank you. Save that money for Killzone3.

So let me get this straight, I'm supposed to pay $15 for a map pack with only 4 maps, when KZ3 is coming out at least a week before it? Even if I did own Black Ops, I highly doubt I would buy this at all.

Yet I still have a feeling that I'll be seeing this pack in the top downloads section of the PSN for quite some time, just like all the other CoD map packs. Some people just don't know when they're getting ripped off it seems.

I would be all over these new maps if the game ran properly on a PS3 - Black Ops is broken and no amount of patching it seems can fix it - Treyarch strikes again - I hope this clusterf*ck of three studios can pull off a miracle with MW3.

I'm not paying 15 bucks for a map pack, i did that before it was such a waste. If i ever decide to play Black Ops and get the maps i'm getting the maps off my buddy with game sharing.

But when Killzone 3 comes out i'm going to be playing that more. But my first priority is to get me a new PS3 first and foremost.
