Downpour Details: Multiple Endings, Element Of Fear
Although it's being developed by a new studio, it seems Silent Hill: Downpour will have everything franchise fans desire.
You can check the digital version of the recent EGM; there's a feature interview with Downpour producer Devin Shatsky, and he provides us with a few new pieces of information. First and foremost - and we loved this about Silent Hill 2, in particular - we will once again get multiple endings, thereby giving us more reason to replay the game. Another reason would be the fact that not all side-quests are available during our first play-through. In terms of atmosphere and gameplay, Vatra really seems to be focusing on the "creepy" factor; for instance, the main character, Murphy Pendleton, will walk differently depending on how much damage he has suffered and - get this - his fear level. Very cool. Furthermore, we see something about "infinite hallways" and "disintegrating rooms" that will continually keep players on their freaked-out toes.
And although many of us define Silent Hill as Survival/Horror - a sub-genre that has either disappeared or been absorbed into the action/adventure category, depending on your views - Shatsky would rather call Downpour a "psychological thriller." Yeah, we'll go with that. This game sounds sweet and it's nice to see Vatra sticking to the concepts and ideas that first made the franchise great.

A lot of people love SH 1-4 but still don't truly get it and that's still fine, more to it's genius. They like the creepy atmosphere etc, etc and question and criticise why the main character barely reacts to what's going on and the creatures around him and praises Homecoming, or this for finally making them react realistically...when infact, true understanding of it should tell you that it was intentional before (one example out of a thousand), but that's ok!
However, they call the game Silent Hill....and it isn't. I could explain in the utmost detail why it's not, but why?
Director Del Torro spoke of what im talking about recently and compared the original team silent games to the beauty of David Lynch movies, and he was bang on....It isn't Silent Hill 2 IN 3D (film coming soon) or a Downpour with a character called Murphy who's an escaped prison convict (the fact it actually shows you scenes that explain how his truck crashed etc in Hollywood style sequences is wrong. Another example out of a thousand) coming to the hill, a normal talking voice with human reactions to everything (screaming, running, shouting profanities because he's scared etc. Another example out of a thousand) with an injury and fear metre! A fear metre?! Talk about missing the point.....whatever, i don't need to go on, but it ain't any of this that we speak. SH was the most beautiful, artistic, cleverly written, still being debated about (story), emotional experiences in game, ever.
If you're gonna get malicious, 1st don't talk to me and 2nd, learn how to debate.

I like to get emotionally encapsulated into the games I play (big mgs and ff fan), playing these kind of games freaks me out for weeks.
Btw I'm a guy and heterosexual, so don't get your hopes up gayboys.

but i wont be holding my breath, RE and AITD have gone the way of the action shooter, so whats stopping this from following?
developers are in the mindset that no one wants to play scary games, which is a load of sh*t!
tis why dead space 2 was toned down so much.

Sounds ridiculous, including the name!
The only thing he kinda got right was the genre....but even that's debatable.
But, whatever, i'm sure a lot of you are fed up with my passionate defence on SH.
I don't need to give this attention. I just thought the description under the headline was funny.
