Will Twisted Metal Assault The Spring?

For some reason, this is a project that just doesn't want to see the light of day.

Ever since its big unveiling at last year's E3, Twisted Metal has gone quiet again; it just isn't seen in a lot of headlines, and updates are few and far between. Most blockbuster titles are consistently in the news for months and months before release, but for some reason... Well, at any rate, it seems the game might actually arrive sooner than expected, if an updated release estimate is to be trusted. A reader has pointed us in the direction of PlayStation.com, where the game in question now has a "Spring 2011" launch date. This is upgraded from the "TBA 2011" label it had before. The only problem is that at last check, it didn't seem likely the anticipated title would arrive before fall. But who knows?

That's sort of a running mantra with Twisted Metal: who knows? Maybe a huge release date announcement is just around the corner...

I keep forgetting about this game..I need to see more..it hasn't really grabbed my attention as much as the other exclusives have...

I love most of the Twisted Metal games (except small brawl, ew)...Black being my favorite, they made it even darker and even deadlier. I remember the E3 when they had Sweet Tooth transform into the crazy missle launching death machine at the end of the trailer and everyone went nuts. TM Black Online was a sleeper hit too, but at that time, no one was really online yet, and Sony JUST released the ethernet adapter. Glad to see TM making a comeback.

I hope it's true as well. I follow David Jaffe on twitter and it seems he's always hard at work on this game so, it's getting close regardless. But for
Some reason I still don't see it releasing before fall. Probably sometime before or close after Uncharted 3 is my guess. I assume we will see a launch type deal at E3 this year and it will be in our hands shortly after. That's my prediction!

Well, in reality, it's not that we want old school greatness per-se, but much of what made gaming what it is, is missing today. A perfect example of maintaining that old school greatness and innovating with new generation visuals and ideas is Demon's Souls. Another would be MGS4.

Then there's the new games all together that don't fall into today's traps, such as Heavy Rain. So that counts.

Twisted Metal looks like it falls into the straight up old school category with a nice little note to remind us of simplicity...the thing that can be as good as anything complex.

I'm ok that it hasn't had a lot of hype yet. I'd rather they start advertising and hyping closer to launch so that people don't forget about it.

Often when a game gets hyped way in advance I put it at the back of my mind and end of forgetting about it because it's just so far off that other games take over.

I just don't want them to waste their advertising budget, come out strong a couple weeks before release.

Not only do I agree but I'd like to add sometimes a game gets tainted by it's long wait (gt5), because I think people get tired of waiting and games end up not exceeding all the expectations.

That is actually bad advertising. Too early is poor advertising as well as too late. 2 weeks for an unknown title among new consumers is a bad idea...for established fan base, it doesn't matter as GT5's numbers and week advertising speak for themselves. That game did great w/o getting the crazy support most triple AAA's gets. I hope TM comes out towards the middle or end of summer. Too many games already coming out for spring.

No chance it will make it that soon. Jaffe is probably so hard at work on it though that he's too busy to begin the hype. I'd peg it as an xmas title. Maybe he's taking my advice and ditching the live action scenes for pretty cutscenes.

Seems like David Jaffe is a kind of reserved about his projects anyway. He updates his twitter alot but he's always very vague. LOL. Plus you just don't see very many interviews with him. There are some including the one done on this site but nothing like other developers. Oh well, can't wait for this to drop

How about June. Nothing big is planned for that month. That would be great, we can enjoy E3, then we can go play Twisted Metal. Its the perfect plan.

All that means is that it could be so much more fun the longer it has time to sit and be polished up So I say take your time Jaffe......Er'Just not TOO much time.

It's feasible. But TM can really be released at any time because there is almost no direct competition for it. There are no other vehicular combat games. Of course, Sony wants to make sure their releases are good and spread out so let's see:
February: KZ3; March: MLB, Yakuza, Motorstorm; April: Sorcery, SOCOM; September: Resistance 3; November: Uncharted 3.

ICO/SotC, I'm thinking maybe October. TLG, December, if at all. inFamous 2, I'm thinking will release pre-August. R&C: A41, I'm going to go with July. So, late May or early June would work for TM.

im sorry guys but this game does not interest me. I played 2 and 4 on my ps1 and kinda liked them but for the life of me I cant get myself to want this... I bet it'll get 8.5s like every ps3 exclusive does. Not necessarily from psxe but from everyone else.. well idk, I see this one making it to the bargain bin by early 2012 so maybe ill try it. But then again my ps3 isnt online so why would I? Its like my friend offering to lemme borrow cod blops and I said na, if I had internet I prob would... maybe. I go on this sight on my phone, never once on my comp. I really need web tho, im a sp gamer but I do have fun online.

Would be cool for Spring but personally I wish it came out in Summer, it seems like more of a badass Summer game.

But if it's Autumn then that's fine too.

the games not that far away, i remember reading a tweet from david last year saying the games just gone into beta.
it will be done by the end of the year, and i cant wait to get back to the good old car combat that made the playstation!
cant believe how much of a dive the genre has taken!
ps1 and ps2 was riddled with car combat games, nowadays i can literally count the car combat games on one hand!
