Rumor: Guitar Hero Isn't Dead Yet
Guitar Hero is no longer profitable and that has resulted in a disbanding of the franchise business.
But few believe we'll never hear from the series again. In fact, the cancellation announcement may not affect a new installment that was already in development... According to Jack DeVries, speaking in a recent IGN Game Scoop show, Activision is still quietly anticipating some new Guitar Hero:
"So, uh…I’ve heard rumors I’m not allowed to talk about…from…but I’m going to talk about them anyway. I’m not going to name names or anything, but…I would predict Guitar Hero comes back holiday 2012….because we know they’re developing one…"
Other people assumed he was talking about the canceled 2011 project, so DeVries clarified:
"…there’s another one that was supposed to be after that that I know of that has not stopped. They are still working on it. That’s all I can say. It was never scheduled for 2011, so it’s not affected."
It was quite the shock to learn that Guitar Hero was finished, even if everyone was well aware of the ailing music genre. Maybe the franchise just needs a little rest, that's all; maybe the fans will want to see it return a few years from now. Over-saturation didn't seem to work very well.

Well I rather play a music game over a sports game and I rather play a sports game over a puzzle/board game, but it really depends what it is. I freaking loved brain age.

Well hell True Crime: Hong Kong was almost a finished product & they canceled it; is there any rumor that suggest that it still might get a release in the future. I would really like to see an article about how TC:HK is being picked up & published by someone else because I really wanted to play that game it looked like it was going to breath new life into the series, but instead I'm still trying to wrap my head around why the hell would Activision scrapped a possible hit along with Guitar Hero(even though I don't play GH games).
